Schoola
Underperformance amongst primary and secondary school students in northern Nigeria can be attributed to a lot of factors. From lack of quality learning materials to the insecurity challenges affecting our schools.
Students complain of outdated curriculums and obsolete delivery methods.
Another problem is that over 70% of the 13M+ students out of school come from this region. Poverty and lack of initiative from parents greatly affect parents.
Technology has shown clearly, especially during the COVID lockdowns that access to quality education is possible. But middle-low end schools don't have budgets to deploy technology due to setup costs.
Our solution is an operating system schools use, to create or formulate (verify) quality and curriculum relevant digital content that puts the school in the pocket of learners.
This increases student engagement and improves their performance. We use incentives such as points, ranks and leaderboards to reward the students for completing school work on the platform.
The solution offer students a fun, engaging and interactive platform and schools with the tools to measure progress and performance all year round.
Our platform is content agnostic (supports multiple curriculums) and smart tools (AI and Analytics) to automate and monitor students performance.
Northern Nigeria accounts for up 70% of the 13M+ children that are out of school in the country and the growing insecurity challenge has posed yet another threat to education in this region.
Add COVID lockdowns and the status quo before 2020, education in this region is under attack every day as even children who attend school now face the challenge of missing classes and disruption in learning.
Children in public and private schools in Zamfara state and environs for example have not been attending school for more than 7 months now in fear of banditry and kidnapping attempts.
We live in the part of Nigeria where education is under attack everyday. Underperformance is on the rise here and we believe only technology will save the day.
We are a well matched team that comprises professional teachers and software developers. I have 8+ years of experience working with K12 schools. I work closely with schools and my team to build the product. Nasir is a core python engineer that leads our development team. He has industry level skills and has built solutions for multiple startups and organizations including Julius Berger Plc.

Since the COVID lockdowns schools have made technology adoption a high priority. The problem they face now is finding the right solution for them at the best cost.
We have provided the most affordable and sustainable way for our current schools the we get referrals mostly from schools that have used our solution longer.
Funding and partnerships that will help us reach more schools is the reason we are applying for solve so we can solve this problems more communities.
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. expanding client base)
Gen Z learners are unique and the old way does not apply to them. They live in the social media generation and expect content to be fun, engaging and interactive.
These kids don't want brick and mortar and schools (pubic and private) do not have the budget for the technology that will drive engagement and performance. Add gadgets and internet connectivity to the technicality and you understand why schools almost always resort to the traditional methods.
Schoola helps schools become smarter and serve their leaners better by automating teacher processes (reducing their workload so they can get creative), using artificial intelligence & performance analytics to measure & improve learning outcomes.
Our platform puts schools in the pockets of their learners and can put same school in the hands of more learners without the need to build more infrastructure (physical buildings and furniture).
Our goal for the next 12 months we project to be in 261 schools with 100K+ students on the platform.
Our vision for 5 years from now is to serve 5 million users.
Our most important KPIs include:
1. Number of daily active users
2. Number new schools
3. Increase in students performance
The Schoola platform has a well written plan to turn our most active schools into online schools that can be accessible to all. Private schools in Zamfara for example can offer remote classes or students that are stranded can join any smart school from any part of the country to keep up with their mates.
We leverage on cloud-edge technology to built our platforms and artificial intelligence to help teachers generate content faster.
The mobile app is specifically built to help students keep in touch with their teachers and classmates.
