Lifelong Mobile App
According to UNESCO, over 56 million teenagers in Africa need alternative pathways to acquire life and tech skills for employment and prosperity. In the same vein, the African Development Bank once stated that the majority of youth in Africa do not have stable economic opportunities – one-third are unemployed and discouraged, another third are vulnerably employed, and only one in six is in wage employment.
Addressing African challenges in education will surely need a multi-dimensional approach and tackling the very root of the problem will require paying particular attention to providing skills training to improve young people’s productivity. There is no doubt that the education that young people receive and the skills they acquire will ultimately expand the range of employment opportunities and levels of earnings they will have. Sadly, these skills are not taught in our traditional schools and most organizations and platforms that teach these skills are focused on graduates rather than catching them young from secondary schools and even below.
The Lifelong mobile App is a mobile learning platform that is accessible upon sign ups with its unique user friendly design that allows users between age 8 to 18 to learn life skills and tech skills.
Users are expected to sign up on the platform, followed by a quick knowledge assessment that would led to level placement. The app is designed to cater for 3 levels of learners; Beginner, intermediate and advanced for life skills training and for digital literacy skill training. Each level has 3 months allocation with assessment at the end of each topic covered in that level.
Some key features of the app includes: Personal user account, Course details, Content management, Lesson notes and videos, Text chat and discussion forum, Interactive assessment, Speak to your mentor chat box, Analytics, Notification, Video conferencing, Whiteboards and collaborative whiteboards, Screen sharing, Breakout rooms, Hand raise, Ratings and reviews, Gamification element.
