The Drop rate of those who learn differently that go and have gone undiagnosed and are more likely not to be engaged or at the grade level they are supposed to be at the time they decide finally school is not for them. So students with learning disabilities that are not treated fall behind because the classroom is not designed to meet their needs and their abilities are simply not being properly tested. Leaving this type of student out of the lesson plan and not engaged or even finding school and the setting not engaging and welcoming to them and how they learn, and their thinking process
It is an app that can be used on all smartphones or pcs. So the first thing the app does is have the user take a test to see where they are at in math and reading comprehension. The results are sent to their teachers and used to address in the classroom how to help with potential visits to doctors depending on the issue. After that, the user will ask a series of questions regarding their goals their interests whether it be music or sports. The app will then customize a learning system based on the test scores and attractions to keep them engaged and address their learning disabilities. The app is personalized to carry the student throughout any learning situation including college and beyond and various career options.
The solution will serve those with learning disabilities who are not getting attention where they have the ability to find their place and pace in the most standard learning environment. For the first time with custom learning situations that are tailored to their diagnosis and that help them be able to work at their own pace and keep up with all traditional learners if not better. The solution will keep each learner engaged by personalized each lesson in school to their everyday life and likes, along with a way to understand why they learn differently and how it is not a hindrance, but there is a way for them to use it as an advantage.
It will impact their lives by giving them tools and options that will help them learn anything and in any setting that just caters to one type of learner. It will also be a great aide for their teachers and even mold to base more ways and methods to help future students who have the same issues with learning the traditional way that way too often leaves the student who learns differently out. Living situations and unaddressed classroom issues can make anyone not want to learn or feel there is a point to thrive in anything beyond or even in the classroom.
It targets to serve students of color who are in underserved areas like those in urban areas to those who are in rural areas such as reservations. Many of these students do not have access to enough qualified teachers for their issues so that an impact can be made in their learning process and how they develop as a student. Both rural and urban settings have this problem. The target is students who are low achieving and display learning issues. The age will be age 10-14, and the goal is to develop preventive methods before the time most likely when people like them drop out. The age group is a vital age range in terms of what happens emotionally and physically for both males and females. They will be entering another critical phase the last one before entering adulthood. The solution will address their needs by giving them access to programs that aid in what they did not know they had a deficiency in and that was the reason for their poor standings in school. It will give them a personalized plan that allows them to see themselves in the school setting and thriving. Lastly, it will give them the first chance to see what they can get out of school and decide how what they get out of school can help them past high school whether in furthering their education in college or getting a job or both.

I am applying because as an untraditional learner like myself and one with a lack of education it is harder for me, and in the position that I am even though I am going back to school to get help. I also have a huge barrier as a person with disabilities, a person of color, a daughter of an immigrant and a woman. I saw this as a chance to open a door for others not just like me but meet them on the other side of the door that may not know about me and others like me and are willing to help that have the same passion and drive to not just get funds but get the solution as of right as possible to provide effective change. I see this as a chance to learn for other ideas I have that involve technology to help humanity. That is the only reason why I have and will apply to MIT and MIT related the chance to use science and the arts to benefit humanity at the highest level possible and it not being about titles or resumes.

It does not just stop with being an aide in the classroom, it aids with everyday life and makes everyday issues ways to improve learning skills both in math and reading but also with improving cognitive skills and vocational skills. Also in the later emotional intelligence. The app is not just for the period of being a student under 18 but a student of life. Using a core focus of Cognitive learning it allows each user to understand themselves and how they relate to the subject and situation. I do expect it to change the market and allow others in the market to expand on the importance of cognitive learning with persons with learning disabilities.
Year one is intense development stages where the focus is on finding human capital getting key people to help realize this goal.

Find partnerships with schools and technology companies to launch the product and perfect it and have it in the hands of target learners
One indicator Is to measure my progress by having a target number of people to know how my actual people the product will serve and how much technical assistance I will need to maintain the purpose of the product and make it capable of producing at all times. Another indicator is the increase of people I find to help me and build an even stronger idea.
I think the theory of change about this app is that it is formatted to the user and their everyday life to make everything a learning lesson to enhance their learning ability in everything, not just the classroom. Also, it becomes a tutor and aide knowing the user’s weaknesses and strengths so a plan created just for them to help the user succeed is ideal. I think taking a cognitive focus it goes to the core of the issue.
I think by creating a Cognitive learning-based app that allows each learner even with sensory issues have a plan tailored for them by answering questions that are beyond the normal reach of testing that is out there for those who learn differently is groundbreaking. Not to mention the app being able to use even for grocery shopping and that trip being able to help the user with their current course work while keeping them engaged is amazing. As we learn something new what we were before also changes to what we are with that new learning so the app changes according to the user’s new skillset and a new stage in grade or learning scale however that will be measured whether. The goal is to help the user know they are a learner and can learner at any level and that school is not a place where they should be limited or feel limited. I know first hand with undetected learning disabilities you feel trapped and things others look forward to like going to college whether a four-year or two year or vocational seems not to be a working reality or even handling the budgeting for grocery shopping.

Diversity and inclusivity and equity are the backbones of the development and the reason for this product. I am a black woman daughter of one immigrant parent, and I learn differently. My sole purpose is to enhance as much as I can the lives of others and work with others that strive to do so also. I think by having a diverse set of people to work with you does not just generate better ideas but you generate better situations for a better humanity.
I will be providing value to the targeted population by increasing their ability to learn at all levels. It will increase their chance of staying in school and getting a proper job during or after school ends. I will be providing them with a service that helps them deal with their learning disabilities and emotional issues that might also be a hindrance to how they perform or they are capable of. I will be providing this service via an app. They would want or need this product because it is a way that allows them to develop in a space like nowhere else available on the market or in the schools. They will want it for the scholarly and vocational benefits it will provide along with a new method for them to better understand their way of thinking and link it up with a world of thought that has left them behind.
