Home Learning Station
Today. it is hard to enable home-based learning without the right tools. Kids my have a computer, but no audio or video. They might have audio, but not source of video or interactive computer. They might have all the technology, but no proper space to use it, or they might lack the skills to use it. There are many issues that make at-home learning challenging, when, in reality, it should be simple, engaging, and convenient for everyone- the child and the grown up.
I propose offering a free learning at home kit that would include easy, one-button access to video and audio sharing, a private learning area with green screen, virtual reality and more tools to make home learning just like the classroom and better. The pop up room could be set up anywhere, and, be, ideally, soundproof
This kit should be provided to all schools to provide to learners when they are home-based learners, they have a home learning day or supplement their learning with tutoring, special classes, and more.
Determine tools to include in the kit
Raise funds
Establish guidelines for schools to provide resources
Provide examples of use and set up
- Enable personalized learning and individualized instruction for learners who are most at risk for disengagement and school drop-out
- Concept
Because I feel this is a modern-day challenge that can be overcome with the proper tools. I have a great deal of experience in online learning (of all ages) and the variety of challenges learners (and teachers) face, and the one issue I see most consistently is access to the right technology and the skills to use it
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
With professional and personal experience, I recognize access and skills to home-based learning technology to be an ongoing challenge. I expect the solution to be a practical answer to the barrier to education equality.
Ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all through provision of home-based learning technology.
- ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes
- ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education
- ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational and tertiary education, including university
- substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship
- eliminate gender disparities in education and ensure equal access to all levels of education and vocational training for the vulnerable, including persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and children in vulnerable situations
- ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy
- ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including, among others, through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development
- build and upgrade education facilities that are child, disability and gender sensitive and provide safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environments for all
My solution is guided by the dynamic learning project: theory of change
I plan to use data and processes from the DLP: https://digitalpromise.org/initiative/dynamic-learning-project/
As is stated on the website,
"During each cycle, coaches provided each teacher with consistent personalized support through five steps in the DLP coaching model: (1) identify a classroom challenge(s) to be addressed; (2) brainstorm possible strategies; (3) select personalized strategies/tools; (4) implement selected strategies/tools in the classroom through co-teaching, modeling, and/or observation; and (5) reflect on progress."

I am only a team of one, but if this solution is accepted and it grows, I would welcome a diverse talent pool where diverse members are welcome, supported, valued, and respected
Providing, communities, districts, school systems, and families, easy access to home-based education solutions through grants and other sources of funding. The Home Learning Station will be provided just like any other publicly provided resource for kids.
- Organizations (B2B)
Through donations, grants, and service contracts, the work to provide Home Learning Stations will be funded
When the Home Based Learning solution gets off the ground, it will become more financially stable. The project is only at the planning, concept phase, which is not funded as of yet.
