Public hospitals all over the world are often being flooded with patients that need medical attention especially now due to COVID-19 and they often have to wait for hours before receiving medication or a doctor's consultant.
Clinics and hospitals often have long queues due to too many walk-ins and patients not booking appointments.

Many people are suffering from mental health conditions such as depression and many of them can't afford therapy.
LOWER RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS, DIABETES ETC
Serious health issues in Africa that, if untreated can cause heart diseases, kidney problems and are some of the causes of death.

A.I AS A SERVICE
Empowering African healthcare providers with the power of Artificial Intelligence that can diagnose lower respiratory infections, diabetes and other diseases for early detection and treatment.
Providing an easy way for patients to search for doctors and healthcare facilities and clinics that best suits their needs as well as book appointments easily with those facilities.
Our platform would also simplify the way doctors interact with their patients by providing an easy appointment management system, a dashboard analysing patient's health details overtime, medical records, therapy sessions and online course analysis.
Our platform would also enable hospitals, to find patient medical records and history in the most efficient
We live close to a public clinic and I see people in queues as early as 6 o'clock in the morning, before the clinic even opens. Those people and so many other Africans will benefit greatly from Aldabra AI by saving them hours and hours they would have spent in queues. It will also provide state-of-the-art healthcare to Africa, by allowing everyday nurses and doctors to become data scientist and leverage the power of artificial intelligence and big data.
We've all been affected mentally one way or the other, by the pandemic and other existential crisis. So we know how it feels and what it took to get out of such mental problems.
We're conducting suvyes and based on the results we've been able to point out important factors for our solution to work.
We are a group of three young developers and data scientists who have experienced the poor health system in Africa and we are looking forward to a future of better healthcare system in Africa since we are underprivileged.
- Build fundamental, resilient, and people-centered health infrastructure that makes essential services, equipment, and medicines more accessible and affordable for communities that are currently underserved;
- Prototype
Applying to solve means we would be getting the global reach needed for our ideas and for our voices to be heard.
We also hope that this platform would provide us with the much-needed growth, access to a much larger pool of data needed for analysis and training of our models, financial backing, and an opportunity to learn and get technical insights from already established Healthcare Information Technology Platforms/Organizations. Gaining access to a wealth of knowledge on how to run a successful startup and manage the growth of the solution in an efficient manner.
We believe MIT Solve is a step closer to achieving our dreams, and that is providing cutting edge healthcare care systems for Africans and The World.
- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
Our solution is truly innovative as it leverages several APIs to serve a web, mobile, and on-premises interface. The APIs themselves can be integrated into any healthcare system, facility or provider. This also enables it to be used as an enterprise application.
It also looks to offer AI as a service along side it's SaaS offering. This would optimize analysis and help to predict and detect early diseases in patients.
This type of technology would be the first of it's kind in Africa.
As aldabra.ai we believe that health is the ultimate wealth. The pandemic has shown us that we all should be very aware of our health needs and lead healthy lives to achieve true happiness, enjoy our lives with our loved ones, to contribute meaningfully to our communities.
Unfortunately, proper healthcare is still accessible to only a few in Africa as inequality, unemployment and poverty are massive problems. Private hospitals are often expensive and most Africans cannot afford medical insurance.
Our impact goal as Aldabra is to improve the state of public hospitals that most Africans have no choice but to rely on. We strive to bring efficiency and world-class solutions to the place where they are needed the most, to the people that need them the most. Solving real problems that numerous public hospitals in Africa are facing.
In the next five years, we aim to build a solution that will reduce waiting/queueing times by helping public hospitals efficiently schedule appointments, check-ups and walk-ins. We seek to enable doctors to work together to diagnose patients quicker with the help of machine learning and their expertise, building an intelligent network for all healthcare workers in Africa to co-operate. As the need for mental healthcare is ever increasing, we aspire to provide a platform for therapists to offer their services at affordable rates to users remotely over video conferences and chat.

27% of South Africans with severe mental disorders receive treatment. We are building a SaaS platform that will help increase efficiency in healthcare facilities in Africa, improve the mental health of patients and empower African healthcare practitioners with data science and A.I tools.
We will achieve this by allowing patients to book appointments and queue online, providing access to therapy and courses to help with mental health issues. Helping healthcare practitioners to find digital medical records, register new patients, analyse patient physical and mental health data over time, and diagnose patients' illnesses with help of data science and artificial intelligence.
The theory of change is around reducing the waiting time which according to a study done in Canada can cause patients to often rely on urgent care for non-urgent health issues https://rdcu.be/cJ9cI. We found that in data presented by the South African College of Applied Psychology (2018) suggest that one in six South Africans suffers from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and only 27% of South Africans with severe mental disorders receive treatment.
our core technology would leverage the power of several web APIs as well as with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. This would allow us integrate well with hospitals and healthcare facilities with existing system that just needs parts of our functionalities and features.

Our team consists of two South Africans and a Nigerian. We came together with the intention of building a solution to eradicate the poor healthcare system in Africa. Throughout last year we became really close, despite the fact we lived across Africa.
Diversity has been a major factor of our bond and we've embraced what makes us different and truly African and over time we've shared our cultural, social, and ethnic views.
For us this is a journey to bridge unique minds across the continent and we hope to involve as many Africans as possible (from different demographics, ethnic groups, gender, race, and sexuality), as well as open our doors to global helpers. We believe this is a step to achieving stable healthcare system for all Africans.
We look to embed this in our hiring and recruitment process and policies.
There would be monthly subscription fee (this would be for an enterprise version) for clinics and healthcare facilities, allowing their patients, doctors, nurses etc use the aldabra ai software for free as part of the package.
In terms of customer value, each hospital doesn't just provide financial returns, but also presents a new opportunity innovate more data of medical records and history for the use of research and AI, and for network of healthcare facilities.
- Organizations (B2B)
Sell the product to hospitals and public clinics across Africa on a monthly subscription model. Raising investment capital from sponsors and investors through pitching and social media marketing campaigns. Seeking service contracts with governments' health sectors.
