Model of Integrated Healthcare for Rural Areas (MIRA)
•Challenges in accessing comprehensive, equitable and quality health services by rural and remote communities
Primary Care solution that coordinates and optimizes already available health services in the community for greater access, linkage, and coverage to address systematic challenges faced by communities as a result of lack of coordination, collaboration, and partnership amongst and between service providers
- Rural/remote communities members (majority women, children, and elderly): increase direct access to healthcare
- Civil Society: Advocacy, communication, and social mobilization of all role-players
- Healthcare providers: public and private (public, private, traditional): increase service uptake and mitigate risks of disease burden and mortality in rural areas
We have over 10 years of implementing community-based solutions and community development programs. Our team complements is representative of the communities we serve. We have program managers with a proven record of project management and business acumen. We are well vested and known by key role players in the health system in the areas we serve.
- Improve confidence in, engagement with, and use of healthcare services globally.
- Growth
We are looking to diversify our funding sources but also have an opportunity to strengthen the use of technology which has grown during the covid-19 pandemic. At solve we believe that we will have an opportunity to see our work at scale without focus on specific health areas as it is the care with our current donors but Solve support will help us to consolidate health programs in rural areas across different streams
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
Model for Integrated Health Care for Rural Areas (MIRA) is an approach to coordinate available facility-based resources with community-based resources for greater health care coverage and services for all. So far, different implementing Partners function in silos with very little to no layering, integration, and coordination. Through working at community level, MIRA will ensure adequate coverage and optimize access and uptake of health resources for the greater good. MIRA will function as a healthcare hub that is community-driven with participating from all service providers, community and civil society.
The impact goals for MIRA project are:
- Increase access to equitable and quality health care for individuals, families, and communities in rural areas
- Create strategies to reduce barriers to access whilst ensuring quality health services. These strategies will be considerate of the culture, lifestyle, the social organization of the community whilst appreciating knowledge and dynamics of rural communities
- Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages (Goal 3)
- Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls (Goal 5
