Data show that 1 in 4 Nigerians (mostly the younger population) suffer from depression and anxiety, but many of them don’t seek professional help due to poor awareness and the high cost of therapy.
As a certified mental health first responder myself, I conducted a series of user interviews to ascertain that this is a pressing challenge that people are willing to make financial commitments towards solving.
BridgingSpace offers the following solution:
• Freemium messaging to talk to therapist by providing users free access to therapists on BridgingSpace App as well as access to premium audio chat sessions & High Value Content (HVC)in social platforms such as clubhouse and Instagram.
• Virtual therapy which gives users quick access to counselling at their convenience via professional therapists.
• The online support group (which will be handled by a licensed therapist) gives users an avenue to share their experience and learn from others.
• Lastly, the mental health self-care & newsletters gives users daily tips to maintain good mental health.*
Young people who are in universities & white collar jobs as well as women affected by Gender Based Violence, Postpartum Depression & Relationship Issues.
I and my Cofounders have known each other for about six months now. We met at a startup accelerator program. We are deeply passionate about mental health wellbeing. This affords us with the opportunity to use our combined years of industry experience to do more faster through our user interactive interviews and continuous engagements with our target population.

BridgingSpace offers teletherapy services via licensed therapists, maintains EMR, sets schedules, provides an online community, offers mental health self-care & a flexible pay-as-you-go plan.
BridgingSpace is a social impact cause that utilizes technology as a means to solve critical problems in mental health which has the potential to do the following:
BridgingSpace will serve as an effective channel for individuals who have mental health related issues in order to break.
stereotypes and stigma related circumstances while promoting healthy communities.
Enjoin families, peer groups and the public to be more focused on the psychosocial health of their community and have them talk about mental health challenges they may have encountered in schools or among their peers. This could be achieved through focus –driven approaches that come in the form of one-on-one counseling, group rehab or anonymous counseling.
There will be a better point of care system through effective referrals to BridgingSpace’s linkages and paraphernalia because individuals take responsibility and are in full support of our work.
Effective channels for
communication, partnerships & collaborations will include support groups, for profit & nonprofit organizations.
We accept and understand that although mental health is a critical and important component, it is often a neglected part of “Health” as a whole. Thus, this will serve as Contribution in helping to achieve “health for all goals”.
By raising awareness, restricted access to the means of suicide will be removed.
Encouraging the social media to inculcate and speak up by using stories of hope through spoken words and storytelling mediums.
Reports on suicide and other Mental Health Cases will involve the use of non-sensational language to avoid poor misinterpretations.
Building life skills amongst young people will serve as support and aid in curbing the scourge.
Identifying suicide risk through evaluation indicators as soon as possible in order to provide timely management and support will come in the form of counseling & therapy
