Medihome care services
The problem we are trying to solve is the problem of inaccessibility to good medical services due to conditions such as old age and Disability.
People die while trying to get medical attention as a result of the large crowd and queue that we face at the government-owned hospitals.
We are also building a system that supports and encourages chronically ill patients.
We are building a platform that brings professional medical practitioners i.e Medical Doctors and Certified Nurses to the homes of old and disabled people.
We currently work manually where our medical doctors and nurses plan scheduled visits to homes of old and disabled people to perform medical diagnoses and treatments.
Medical Doctors and Certified Nurses closest to the patients are used to perform these scheduled visits
We now want it to be tech-powered where family members can now schedule a paid visit to their old or disabled family members right at the comfort of their homes.
We are removing the stress and risks accompanied by going to the government hospitals as a result of the crowded populations that also need medical attention
We save lives by saving them time for treatment and the stress, discomforts accompanied by moving old and disabled people from one place to the other.
Our solutions will help save lives as Medical laboratory test samples can be easily gotten from our patients.
Our target populations are the old and disabled people who will love to use our services and improve their lives.
We will have them request a medical doctor or a certified nurse closest to their current location from their mobile phones.
They can also perform other functions such as tracking visits, medications, viewing test results, viewing health history and diagnoses, etc.
We currently live in the area of Lagos call the mainland and have seen how so many young men and women leave their parents on the mainland and go to the island to live expensive and busy lifestyles without time to check up on their old parents. Many a time we also realized that getting medical attention at the government hospitals is very difficult for the old and disabled people because of the long queues.
Our CEO being a Professional medical practitioner decided to assist them by going to their homes after his daily work schedules and during weekends.
This got the attention of other people who knew that they could leave their loved ones in the hands of a certified medical practitioner .
That lead to the invention of Medivent Managers. We currently have about 5 practicing specialist doctors on our team. We also have access to standard laboratory facilities and even pharmacies.
We believe we can reduce deaths caused by delay or inability to access medical services
We also have a techies cofounder that has worked on a startup company from zero B2B clients to over 90 clients helping us build an online platform to make this service available to the whole of Africa as a whole.
- Improve confidence in, engagement with, and use of healthcare services globally.
- Growth
We actually applied to solve to able to get advise both legally and medically as we intend going to different parts of Africa and the world to offer our services.
We will also need financial assistance to improve our reach and our work equipment and tools.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
Our solution had helped remove stress and the pain of moving ill family members from one place to another. It has also prevented the stigmatization sometimes subconsciously done to old and disabled people.
Our solution has improved the lives of our patients and made them happier. We see this solution as a disruption in the traditional way of getting medical attention and a better way of attending to patients.
Our patients can get diagnosed and lab tests samples can be gotten and results delivered back to them while they are at the comfort of their homes.
We have a projection of taking care of over 10000 chronically ill old and disabled people in the next 5 years.
We intend to work with all the medical regulatory bodies in Nigeria and other African Countries for licenses and support to make these dreams a reality.
We will also partner with manufacturers of medical types of equipment and materials to make them easily accessible to our patients.
Concerning the technical aspect of the project, we will work with our partners to build a good and sustainable tech platform that is easy to use by their relatives and family members.
We measure our progress by the number of happy patients we are able to take good care of and provide good health and wellbeing.
We will not forget the number of partners we can get into the project as a progress yardstick.
Our focus problem is the inability of old, chronically ill people to get access to professional medical facilities.
We were able to analyze and come up with some of the reasons that this might occur. Some of which are:
Segregation and discrimination that chronically ill people get because they have been confirmed to have a limited number of days, months, years to live based on their diagnosed medical conditions. This discrimination can come from even their loved one i.e family members who don't want to see them or be stressed about them anymore.
Lack of constant check-ups for old people. Many a time old people get sudden sickness due to the weakness of their body systems. These sudden illnesses could have been prevented or diagnosed earlier with constant medical checkups that our organization provides.
Low Self-esteem of Disabled patients: We have made a little research and found out that a lot of these people are ashamed, depressed, and frustrated with their situations, especially those that were once whole and became disabled probably as a result of someone else's mistake. Some don't even want their family members to see their current situation because of possible rejection and to avoid people seeing them as a burden.
Unreasonable appointment dates: During our research, we found out that chronically ill patients would be given appointment dates that are not feasible. Gaps between appointments would be as long as two months with little or no proper medication. Most time the patients die off before the appointment date because of reasons such as depression, heart attacks, High Blood pressure, etc.
At Medihome care services, we are building a system that provides easy access to professional medical services such as Diagnoses, medications, Laboratory Tests, Dressings, etc and also counseling services to improve their lives
In the short term, we intend to make sure our patients are well taken care of and all the things that may seem hard to access in general hospitals like professional doctors. We also want to make medihome a household name for the old, disabled, and chronically ill patients.
In the long term, we intend to provide maximum services to our patients such as Laboratory services, Pharmacies, etc. We will partner with a lot of medical practitioners to be able to achieve this goal. We will work toward reducing or possibly stopping the stigmatization given to old, chronically ill, and disabled people in Africa. We will move from our country Nigeria to neighboring countries such as Cameroon, Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Chad, Ghana to other parts of the continent.
We are going to be making use of software i.e web applications, payment gateways, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), and a mobile App to reach out to the family of our patients.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
- Software and Mobile Applications
- 3. Good Health and Well-being
- Nigeria
- Ghana
- Rwanda
- For-profit, including B-Corp or similar models
Currently, our team consists of professionals from different medical fields such as doctors, nurses, specialists in different fields, tech experts, and they also come from different tribes and religions.
We have a community of passionate and hardworking people who want to support old, disabled, and chronically ill patients.
Our business model relies on the payment of patients for our services which include consultations, treatments, tests and goods which include medical materials such as medications and other things like medical devices etc. as may be requested or required by the patient.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
We intend to do a lot of marketing and partner with a lot of other professional bodies to be able to expand our services and goods to be sold.
Over the last two years, we have been able to have great patients who value our work and have worked with our medical practitioners to provide us with the funds after each service is rendered or goods are sold.
That's why we are moving to use technology to make it easier to provide a faster means to reach out to our patients and get feedback from them.
This feedback will improve our services and then when our customers are happy they are more willing to pay for the services.
We have been in partnership with a couple of medical centers all over the country that have been referring our services to their patients who need them.
At the moment we haven't gotten any funding but payments for our services and goods like medical devices have been helping us build financial sustainability.
Working directly with top Partners with all medical facilities across the nation approved by the government in caregiving and our top-notch services has helped us get the right funding we need to keep the business moving.
