Women contribute 88% of the agricultural labor force and the majority are rural women farmers, they have access to land but lack the finances to venture into farming.
According to FAO report 2021, 80% of Ugandas land is arable but unfortunately only 35% is cultivated. This has led to food shortage, massive poverty and general economic underdevelopment.
Budget Agro saves we train, finance rural women farmers to invest in commercial farming to increase quantities and qualities of production. We also support putting their crops in a pool in tonnes, we market it to bulk buyers such as the World food program, UNHCR, which offer relatively high prices compared to middlemen traders.
This enables them to increase production, contribute to UN SDGs of Zero hunger and No poverty.
Rural women farmers in Central Uganda, in Mpigi, and Wakiso Districts. They are currently underserved because they have access to land and they currently do subsistence farming due to a lack of finances and knowledge to venture into commercial farming.
Our solution addresses their need by organizing them into saving groups to save as a requirement to train, borrow finances and venture into commercial farming,to produce more and sellmore.

We currently have 45 women, rural farmers, in our saving group in need to borrow finances to venture into commercial farming and the finances available cannot finance all the financial needs.
So we need funding to energize our pool of funds to finance rural women farmers to venture into commercial farming and contribute to the UN SDGs of Zero hunger and No poverty.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
Our solution provides improvement because rural women farmers have access to land but couldn't access finance credit from financial institutions due to lack of collateral.
Bulk marketing of their crops also enables them to get high prices from their produce to eliviate poverty and pay government taxes.
Our impact goal is to impact the lives of 40 rural women for this year and we shall achieve this through the creation of awareness of what we do to get more women into the saving group to save more.
We also have the sell of shares so that we create abig source of finances for lending to women farmers to produce more and sell more crops.
