Trees' Guardians
We are facing the worst drought in the central part of Chile.
Trees are dying in our streets and squares because constraints in terms of water consumption and also because lack of public gardeners during the pandemic.
I propose a simple soluction where people of the city can take action for those trees.
So, picture this: hundreds of people (children, youngs, adults) sponsoring a tree near their house to become guardians who take care of them, water them, worry about all the details.
But also to take pictures and share experiences with other users.
Users can georeference the trees for which they are the guardians to create a community of support of nature.
I have seen children and young people are very motivated for take care about trees and nature. I think this simple idea could be interesting for them. But also for people in general.
Everybody knows about the importance of trees for our world.
There are many people that love trees and would like to take action in terms of the care and protection of trees in their neighborhood or community.
The Trees' Guardians Social Network is a funny way to create community for supporting trees in the neighborhood and schools.
Many people need to see that more people are participating in an initiave to be motivated. This social network can ignite and generate momentum to take action for trees.
This is an idea, a draft.
I've got experience in Project Management and Systems Development, but my expectation is somebody (a company, an ONG, an University, a Municipality) can take this and working togheter for designing, developing, implementing and deploying this soluction to save trees during this severe drought in Santiago de Chile.
- Support local economies that protect high-carbon ecosystems from development, including peatlands, mangroves, and forests.
- Concept
My expectation is somebody can take this idea to transform it into reality.
I can support!
I'm going to be very happy supporting each stage. I've got experiece of that.

- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
I' haven't seen a social network for this topic before.
I think many people could be very motivated for accessing to Trees' Guardians and create an account.
My view in the long term is to motivate schools and municipalities of Santiago to create communities to take care for trees in Santiago.
We can monitor the number of users in the time and also because we are going to georeference each tree in the platform it's easy to review the results.
The idea es to take care about trees in a funny way creating community.
I think it can gain momentum in terms of community for neighborhoods, colleges, universities and municipalities.
It's an important change regarding mindset of people taking advantage of the motivation for nature care.
The drought in Santiago has been devastating in relation to the trees in squares and streets. People want to take action in a community and fun way.
But there are no coordination options available. Trees' Guardians take that spot and gives tree lovers the option to be protagonists of the solution.

Very open!
The more diverse the team, the better design and implementation.
Trees' Guardians works as a Social Network.
We need funds to create the software and atract people as users.
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
As a Social Network, we need a big amount of users to be financially sustainable.
It depends on the sponsor we could have (a Municipality or a School) how can take advantage of the platform to sale advertisement.
There are not examples so far, but all we know how a social network works.
