Ecochar recycles coffee grounds wastes to make energy
In Algeria The non-recycled Organic and biomass wastes in which are the main cause of
pollution, deforestation and wildfires, about 235 000 tons of coffee grounds
Wastes and about 150 000 tons of pomace olive wastes every year which harm the
Environment realizing methane emissions and destroying the landscapes
ECOCHAR is a social enterprise that offers an alternative for wood charcoal and fibers,
and reduce related pollution problems, by recycling and upcycling coffee grounds and
biomass wastes to make high quality energy products such as charcoal briquettes,
heating logs and bio fibers
The recycling of these wastes will benefit the environment directly which means the
environmental and the forest managements also the wastes agencies in Algeria also the
national environmental associations and the internationals NGO’.
(Beneficiaries)
Also my clients ( restaurants, hotels, supermarkets will benefit from our final products (charcoal briquettes heating logs and firestarters)
Our team consists of environmental , mechanical, polymer, chimical engineers and students and what makes us the perfect combination for the project is that we represent diversity in our fields and way of thinking and that's what brought success to our entreprise
- Establishing care work as a broadly respected profession, including reducing stereotypes around gender roles.
- Pilot
Our challenge for now is to turn from handmade Production and manual work to automatical production as the demand of our products increases
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. expanding client base)
Based on our researches on the similarity in the chemical and physical properties of
wood and coffee grounds we were able to create high quality alternative products to
wood made of coffee grounds wastes. Our Technology lies in our ability to recycle a
large amount of solid wastes mainly coffee grounds wastes in an environmentally
friendly process. This production line and process works on the recycling of fumes
resulting from the those wastes to produce energy, and the final products such as
charcoal briquettes heating logs and bio fibers can be recycled after use as fertilizers .
That’s our policy to be a zero wastes startup
Tackle the illegal exploitation of forests for wood and charcoal by making an alternative product for them made of coffee grounds wastes and biomass wastes and that’s how we tackle deforestation and wildfires also wastes pollution with one solution which is ecochar
- Amount of organic and biomass wastes collected - - Amount of products resulting from the recycling and the amount of sales
Mission: Recycling and valorization of organic and biomass wastes to make clean
energy products and fibers
-Vision: Be a leader of organic wastes recycling and an important actor in achieving the clean biomass energy transition in Algeria.
We developed en eco friendly sustainable Production mine for our recycling process

We try to become financially sustainable thought re investing the big part of the income into our entreprise .also trying to catch aa government funding since we have a label of startup delivered from the algerian ministry of startups
We won so many entrepreneurship competitions and bootcamps as best innovative startup but we didn't receive any funds we just received paid cources and training with about 5000 USD
