CarerConnect app: find a freelance carer close by
Seek to solve:
(1) People, who have spent much of their time for caring their family members like children or elderly, find it difficult to seek alternative full employment, due to the gap in not remaining in formal employment. This disrespects and undervalues their care provision experience.
(2) The app seeks to offer them an invaluable job opportunity to utilise their current free time and past care experience. They can work as freelance carers, serving their neighbourhood.
(3) The app connects people who needs care provision nearby – just like Uber.
(4) This increases the supply of experienced care providers.
(5) The freelance nature solves under-employment.
The app mainly seeks to include those who have actual life experiences in caring for family members, or children. This makes homemakers and energetic grandparents, who already have some experience with children, particularly fit.
Like Uber, providers simply register and join as freelancers. Then consumers can then seek those nearby.
The recognition of past real-life experiences as employable experiences – e.g. a mother who has already raised two children to the age of 14 and now has free capacity for work with their children getting mature – is pivotal:
(1) It shows due respect to the value of care provision, and thereby, elevates the standing of care providers. This solves the problem of care providers being undervalued. They also do not need to worry that their significant past experience and time spent on caregiving will not go into waste or hamper their employability.
(2) The real-life experiences make both (a) verification easy for us, and (b) references easy for consumers. Just upload evidence of children or family caring, verification of past experience can be done. Consumers can also judge by themselves regarding the experiences of the care providers – e.g. the homemaker has already raised two children to the age of 17 with proper standing, and is now free for service.
(3) The app offers the opportunity for freelancers to make use of their past care experience, without the hassle to go for re-training. This helps those underprivileged and marginalised who have left the workplace for a long period of time, or are unable to afford re-training. In other words, easy re-employment opportunities for them.
1. By having a Care provision app that works like Uber, this increases the supply of temporary care providers at affordable price.
2. This absolves the need for formal employment with a care provision companies, or renting a place for care provision – thereby reducing the costs of care provision. The freelancers can provide care at their own place or client’s place.
3. Reduction of costs + increase in supply of care providers = more affordable options for those in need.
4. Offers an opportunity for energetic retired people, like grandparents, a meaningful chance to work in their spare time = Not wasting any usable workforce in the society.
5. Offering an income to many freelancers = a chance to benefit from the slash economy.
I have a full plan of execution and specificities in my mind. The plan will enhance the user experience.
Asia, where I come from, is home to many leading tech companies that specialise in apps that connect people to specific services, like delivery or healthcare. With a strong culture of building and executing connection apps in my community, there are many invaluable and unrivalled lessons that will make the implementation efficient.
- Enabling new models for childcare or eldercare that improve affordability, convenience, or community trust.
- Concept
Want to solve the problems - especially helping (1) those who have spent their time on care provision and now finds it difficult for re-employment, and (2) those who find formal care providers too expensive without affordable options within the neighbourhood.
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
I'm not aware of any care provider apps that connects freelancers to those in need. My idea, innovatively, recognises past care experience in life as homemakers. The social value of this recognition is unrivalled and significant.
Just like Uber that gives people a chance to work freelance with their private car + broaden options for consumers, my app seeks to give people an opportunity to work + have an affordable option within their neighbourhood without the hassle to send their family members to a distant care centre.
Implement my app in Asia, Europe and the US. Change the way people can make use of their past homemaking skills - like child caring. At the same time, broaden the supply the care providers - experienced, trusted and trained by life.
Number of users.
Whether lifestyle changes can be observed. People now use Uber, rather than taxi/cab, in many communities. The theory and goal are the same: "Can my app drive the same change?"
A connection app with well-designed, human-centred, user-friendly, features that allow (1) past care experience to be verified, (2) provide consumers trust and confidence and with amply reference to the care providers' experience, (3) effectively connect people close by.
