CARECol
- Informality in the provision of quality care services for elder people with functional dependency due to mental and/or physical disabilities.
- Lack of proper training and certification for the care workers.
- Absence of adequate compensation for workers in this area, as well as social security.
- Unemployment in the country.
- In 2050, between 27-35 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean will need help to perform their daily basic activities.
- 86% of women in Colombia assume the care of elder people in their households.
- 34% of women can't work outside their households as they are taking care of their elder family members; producing alarming labor market effects.
Our solution, CARECol, is a Colombian agency with a social cause that provides free certified training for unemployed women in vulnerable conditions in order for them to work in the Care industry. Once trained and certified, this women come to be part of our database. The goal is that people who need a worker, enter our app or website, for a small fee fill out a survey on the needs of the elderly in a state of functional disability, and the algorithm is responsible for matching the client with the profile most suitable for their needs. Our agency promises free quality education for workers, guaranteed quality of service for clients, and fair remuneration with decent working conditions for employees.
MAIN ASPECTS:
- Quality service: We offer FREE online training and certification in partnership with "El SENA" for unemployed women in vulnerability conditions that desire to work in the care industry.
- More jobs. Fair payment: With our platform we will incentivate the growth of the labor market by offerring more jobs. CARECol willl serve as an intermediary between workers and clients, guaranteeing fair remuneration for employees.
- Customized: We offer an app with a customized algorithm that evaluates the clients needs, and pairs them with the care worker that perfectly fits.
As CARECol we focus on improving the working conditions and benefits of people who lend a service in the care area, our solution serves various participants. At first it will improve the capabilities of care service workers as we attempt to train these people into offering a better service for their clients, in the same way, it also serves the clients we have as our service would be better than other companies. In addition to a better service, we as CARECol will ensure our workers conditions and benefits.
- Employees: Women in vulnerability conditions (african american, poverty situations, single mothers, unemployed).
- 14,5% of women are unemployed in Colombia.
- There are 12,3 million single mothers in the country.
- 5,36 million informal workers in Colombia.
- Clients: Family members of elder people with functional disabilities due to mental and/or physical health conditions.
Actually the added value that we offer in respect to the competition is the facility to find a compromised person to develop the home labors. That person already has the legal requirements and is totally trained to perform the service in the best way. We act like an intermediate between the customer and our employees.
Our team leader as well has great insight from the problem we are trying to solve as both her grandmothers, from dad and mom's side needed care workers in their last years alive, and she lived the agony of her parents trying to find the right people.
- Improving access to training & certification, portable benefits, and labor organizations for care workers.
- Concept
Our hearts ache for social causes like the CARE Economy and the opportunity to use our creativity, abilities and talents to help contribute to this issues,is a dream come true. We have seen how the Care Economy issue is a global challenge, and starting from our country, there's a huge percentage of the population that don't get paid fairly, don't work in the right conditions, or that are unemployed, that will definetely benefit from our solution.
We hope Solve can help us find partners that can provide us the certified training we need, as ell as monetary and mentoring support for the development of our tech interface (algorithm) and App.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
Our solution is innovative as it provides a customized experience for clients as it automatically matches the perfect fit worker for the needs of the client.
We expect that our solution changes the care industry and make the way our agency works the new way the Care Economy works from now on.
In the next year we hope to start prototyping and doing trials of our App and algorithm, as well as contacting potential investors and partners.
In the next 5 years we aspire to launch already the agency, and welcome the first group of women that will be trained and certified to work with us.
As we are still in the concept stage of our solution, we don't have measurable indicators in use yet.
We plan to measure the opinions of our clients via reviews and rating of the workers we send, as well as exams to our trained women so that we can assure the quality of the service they will provide.
Furthermore, we will measure our growth in number of women's life impacted with our solution, as well as the number of elder adults served.
- With the training provided and linking those women to our database, we will be offering jobs and contributing to the labor market.
- With our agency intermediation we will offer the security the workers need in terms of payment.
- With our APP we will provide clients with the trust they need to give their loved ones to the care of someone else, improving the quality of life of the served adult, as well as the family.
Blockchain and Mobile applications for the use of our APP, as well as the devolping of the algorithm to customize the clients experience.
What a blockchain does is to allow the data held in that database to be spread out among several network nodes at various locations. This not only creates redundancy but also maintains the fidelity of the data stored therein—if somebody tries to alter a record at one instance of the database, the other nodes would not be altered and thus would prevent a bad actor from doing so.
The idea is that this technology helps us have a great database, and everytime a new worker gets certified they become part of the system in a very effective way.
