Art of Healthcare is a service based solution which involves creating a nurturing environment where women will have access to professional development which centers their emotional and physical wellbeing.

This service based solution involves business education, connection, but most importantly the physical and emotional empowerment needed to sustain a healthy business.

According to a study by the National Institute of Mental Health, 72% of entrepreneurs are directly or indirectly affected by mental health issues compared to just 48% of non-entrepreneurs. 49% of entrepreneurs deal with mental health issues directly while only 32% of others experienced them. 

Entrepreneurship is rewarding but can often be overwhelming. For Black entrepreneurs in Baltimore, MD the difficulties of owning a business are compounded with social injustices which create unfavorable outcomes such as poor health practices, mentally and physically. 

Starting a business comes with many advantages, which includes economic independence, innovative solutions, and economic diversification, to name a few, but there is a wellbeing risk of entrepreneurship. One of the major side effects of starting a new business is There are side-effects of starting a business is high stress and left unrecognized or unresolved leads to burnout. 

Burnout can lead to stagnation of ideas, isolation from business collaborators and partners, and physically ill. This can negatively impact the health of the business as well.

Entrepreneurs have to begin creating a culture of health while simultaneously building a healthy business. The two are correlated. 

This solution will offer focused professional development which focuses on the whole entrepreneur  through wellbeing support. 

With 72% of entrepreneurs being impacted by mental health issues it is important to have community based and placed services that focus and center the wellbeing of Black entrepreneurs. Black entrepreneurs are not only facing the exciting yet daunting task of entrepreneurship but also the inequities which exist in funding and the overall health system. 

Art of Healthcare is an innovative service based solution to support the entrepreneur. This service based solution will provide and connect entrepreneurs to personal and professional development wellness resources which will support resiliency, mental agility, physical stamina, and joy. S

The target population is Black women small business owners who are starting, growing and scaling their business in Baltimore. They are underserved because often they are overlooked due to their intersection of race and gender. They often lack support that is needed when starting and running a small business. 

To further understand the needs, the solution will include hosting focus groups in the form of meet ups that are conversational. Also surveys will be conducted to allow for more in depth answers. 

The solution being proposed is culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target audience.
