Vision Heirs INC. Hybrid Non Profit
- Yes
- Connecting small business owners and key stakeholders such as investors, local policymakers, and mentors with the relevant experience to improve coordination, collaboration, and knowledge bases within the small business ecosystem
- Advocating for and shaping policy that supports small business owners and/or place-based efforts in their geographic areas, including increased access to resources, removal of structural barriers, and access to infrastructure such as broadband
Our Solution is building eco communities piloted 1st in Nashville ,TN ( Nashopoly ) to go across the state and to other states for transformative owned resources to get families out of poverty.
I am dubbed " The Homeless CEO " due to my vast traumatic lived experience in chronic homelessness we exist to change the trajectory of recidivism in homelessness .
In doing so our solutions are carried out by our program participant's In Transitional housing for revolving self sufficiency) :
1. Financial / Eviction / Homelessness Literacy
2. Food Security ( Farming )
3. Whole Family Restoration ( Unique holistic Therapy for whole family , restoring a 2 parent home )
4 . Innovative Jobs Creation , Mental Health , climate solutions are built in .
5. Rent to own ( Affordable , Sturdy , built to suite post program ) this can look 2 way's Hotel style for the duration of the shelter program . )
Then once curriculum is completed second phase is transition into permanent housing .
6. Create a platform for changing law's that assist traumatic housing disparities and reverse the stigma of being a renter , or criminalizing homelessness .
Our RTO homes will start off as affordable rent ( 30% of income ) for our clients accepting a dying stock of section 8 that allows for purchase via Family Self Sufficiency via HUD .
This Blueprint can be duplicated anywhere once implemented it is overly needed in this national housing crisis !!!!
The specific problem we aim to solve is actually what we call , The Whole Damn Pie ( to be made a report / documentary ) named by one of our Homeless CEO board members , housing is the nucleus of every family it should be a basic human right but it is so far detached from that overly needed reality.
Our lived experience is equal to the largest real poverty simulation I can imagine that's not for entertainment but really happened sparked by the housing crisis of 2008 and snowballing to date with no end in sight !
An example of this happened to Metro Nashville Public Schools there was a 75k loss of funding due to the mysteriously " Lost " but really gentrified children to that exact magnitude & greater amidst COVID 19 pandemic .
Our family of 7 was one of those we lived the gaps a barriers of systems we are here to enhance to cap the revolving door of poverty and loss of family home unit's .
The benefits of our proposed solutions are multi - faceted they are everything that social services is not!
The Problem is zero oversight of service providers , poverty , no home ( and the national definition not empathetically recognizing real homelessness is you not having your own safe decent sanitary dwelling ) .
Our Solution is the multipliable blueprint to real poverty solutions that are not a cost burden to participants it's rooted in revolving philanthropy .
I want to start by saying our biggest alignment to this challenge is being historically excluded , especially economically .
As in mentioning our competitors above they are established and are poised to be at the front of the line for all funding even funding they are super big for . ( think they don't even need it but they can so they do )
This is no different from the population we serve so we are all in the same boat needing the same tool of funding .
We know this by not only living it but within attempting to solve the problem of homelessness and eviction which are both in a crisis right now greater than 2008 - 2016 gentrification periods .
We are hear to create the correct data to pain the correct picture of what is happening to these families .
I remember during that time period that my family was gentrified we 1st did not know what was happening to us
( We Provide across the board Pub ED w/ empathy ) .
Also , there was a 75k dollar amount of children that just poof & vanished none of this is data & is about to happen again on a astronomical level post pandemic .
The communities we aim to change the narrative in are severely under invested in unfortunately in my real experience we are given survey's about improvement only for plans to be used without us , never properly carried out .
Our target population is large 2 parent families in all of the 10 HUD regions they are current and former tenants , and any family facing eviction we are here to prevent it, poverty , or homelessness . ( No one is attending to this very incognito population )
We provide services for job creation inside the transitional housing program curriculum to curve the return to homelessness ( homelessness recidivism non criminal / because in many places homelessness is criminalized / also apart of the undocumented data we'd love to produce ) , virtually giving folks the tools they need without barriers and gaps that currently exist .
Our solution will be built into keeping families housed this is the goal across the board . Along with this is a philanthropic covering built into our curriculum .
Our families have the option to complete our transitional housing program if in need and if they don't need the Rapid Rehousing they can still use our catalog to create / find jobs .
For an example each person can create a job no matter their age , there's a house publisher on stand by for 10 books.
So , far the reach to this population is done in partnership with FACES of HUD Housing Unity Project there are 40k participants to date and growing . However , we want to do more right now our capacity is one person attempting to get to all those people .
The rest of us work and can only part-time assist with the work . ASAP we seek to employ our participants as customer service champions to help productivity .
Implementing this will be life changing for so many our only block right now is not equally having access to the tool of community dollars .
- No
Yes we plan to expand to all 50 states we live in the capital of music city this is our headquarters and the birthplace of the blueprint .
To all who have been displaced & pushed out of a city that they come back and build ( taxpayers we call them working homeless / untapped homeless population / travel greater than 30 mins back into town to work EX : https://www.tennessean.com/vid... )
We dream of an inclusive city in all cities where poverty not only has a voice poverty has a choice to do better absent of endless gaps and barriers .
The headquarter is a pilot we hope to present rather urban rural and we seek to provide the transportation for our families if they do end up on the outskirts for what ever reason .
The market opportunity is astronomical growth & opportunity for our families as our curriculum would give each participant a stream of income doing something rooted in their life purpose .
Current social services do not ensure that their clients are taught to fish so they never hunger again , that is exactly the narrative we are here to plant in fertile ground !!!!
Yes , this is exactly what our sustaining Innovative Jobs Solutions LLC. is for we will have a catalog of careers and we will also give an assessment to customize a families plan's & goals .
While in our program ( transitional housing / individual services ) this is built in so families do not fall into chronic homelessness they own and work for their business without barriers because of our program .
Mission Statement:
Vision Heirs INC is a social services agency that mobilizes resources toward whole family restoration primarily for low income critically disadvantaged larger families that are working homeless suffering traumatic housing disparities .
We believe housing is the nucleus of every family and we want to bring real solutions by way of permanent housing .
To build this capacity we only need access to bottom up funding , and blighted properties this also creates jobs .
Our theory of change surrounds the lack of data , oversight and legislation around our problem . https://docs.google.com/docume...
Issue: Implementing real poverty solutions
Gentrification/High Rent
Who needs affordable housing? FAMILIES!
Rent Control
Preempted by TN legislatures
We need to make TN a purple state!
70-80% owned by major conglomerates around the country
Studying Pre-emption Doctrine is necessary
Barnes Fund (?) as a potential resource [Metro Council]
Money initially created for investing in affordable housing
Needs to be adjusted to where no one can access funding except entities who are working on affordable housing
Rent Control-TN Legislature
Opportunity zones: They don’t do anything for BIPOC
Only benefit the wealthy
No affordable housing is included
Co-operative/ Non-extractive economies for property ownership
Real-estate co-ops
Community land trusts
Intentional communities
Income-based housing, instead of “affordable”
Commodification of homes
Buying and selling for the purpose of profit
Housing should return to being a basic need, NOT a source of profit
Businesses aren’t owned by local residents ( We specifically have that built in to change the narrative for our lacking families )
Community Benefit Agreements
We have to look at organizing efforts from blue cities in Red states
Context matters- We are in Da deep Souf it is still very inequitable for BIPOC !!
Statewide electoral changes are necessary for this to happen
Private partnerships (community orgs, private orgs, and nonprofits) are necessary to shield ourselves from state preemption
We can start off helping a small number of clients we want to gradually increase this over time until eventually everyone is in a home that are the larger families with children .
With Housing being the nucleus of every family we seek to Build Partnerships to build this to scale , paired with Innovative Jobs Solutions , we restore families to a 2 parent whole never separating them as homeless shelters aim to do currently , and lastly food security along with temp to permanent real affordable and climate friendly . ( Think of EARTHSHIPS )
Getting start up capital would be a drop in the bucket for us to overflow in solutions .
- Pilot: a product, service, or business model that is in the process of being built and tested with a small number of beneficiaries or working to gain traction.
- Early: A team of individuals without a registered 501(c)(3) status or a registered 501(c)(3) organization without or a nominal operating budget, building and testing its product, service, or business model.
Zero as far as housing goes , Year 1 we look to at least serve 25 by getting actual access to the tool of funding , year five we look to have duplicated this to at least 10 us cities .
* Please note that partner group has 40 k participants we are trying to service further on each one of these levels by providing jobs and housing both .
Our stakeholders are those in poverty who are facing homelessness or are already there , we are not only here to publicly educate but we are here to build a community of real solutions .
We have not been ignored by the city I am not sure exactly why ?
I write to them in the most clear concise way with a ton of the solutions they are asking for and the same organizations that do the " work " null of real solutions stay at the front of the line for funding no budging .
I say that to say we can only hope that the rest of our community starts to SEE us & know how important our resource is , LIVED experience is in demand still we are obstructed in housing social justice .
Proximate leaders should literally be our middle name why ?
Because via empathy we have literally live this " system " failing us in my case I worked in the " system " was supported until I uncovered further truth's about peers misuse .
We are her to be transparent with our client they are treasure & assets to US , while the world looks at them and their surrounding as expendable ( by experience ) .
We envision a total flip of the poverty narrative to a financial literate space for each member of a family by giving them REAL access to tools we were blocked from inside discrimination and politricks .
Doing this looks like restoring families to a whole , providing apprenticeship type philanthropy so participants can earn , live and build out of temp to permanent spaces while also attentions climate change & food security !
This is all built into the plan to truly wrap around services like never before in complete humanity never dehumanizing humans never hiding their strengths but highlighting them even to the participant .
I say that to say this was our very experience in a Safe Haven family shelter they knew how I was and stalled my exit because I was building while homeless while dealing with the murder of my baby brother .
I fought for a year to get in transitional housing because of the misunderstanding of our living in an uninhabitable space .
Our families VI-SPDAT (Vulnerability Index - Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool) score was 15+ of a minimal 9 still we did not qualify for transitional RRH or SHS ( Rapid Rehousing / Supportive Housing ) I had a case work who told me his wife would love to get a hold of me for truancy in the pandemic because in the uninhabitable space we could not turn our cameras on in virtual school .
Without oversight , this is happening to 75k parents in Nashville , TN the Capital of TN in 2016 these families literally just disappeared I'd love to produce that data that also went completely quiet so no one will know that was happening to us .
Another housing situation I witnessed and could not help the client who was legally blind she was a fellow social justice organizer with the same folks that discriminated against me she was blind with 2 small children .
If we were set us she would have had somewhere to go and grow , the normal process sent her to the fairgrounds which is very dangerous for a single female by herself with small babies.
We are here to fill in the gaps for the undeserved hidden jewels that have zero real resources they are in our communities but like above in explanation this is exactly what we run into is dead ends and revolving doors on purpose .
Think about it if there is no problem some folks well of easy money will dry up by using our vulnerable & traumatic enough real life situations this is exactly our WHY !!!!
The people deserve to THRIVE inside of real poverty solutions meaning no returning to the problem human services has a revolving door .
We are here to make a multitude of doors to freely choose from vs. being pushed quietly out of a city you come back to build and pay taxes in while homeless .
I know unfortunately this is repetitive in our answers but this is how deeply disadvantaged & blocked from funding we are .
This is how I will explain this I was the 1st employee for a white run organization they had zero issues building & attaining ( already having access to funds )
I witnessed them misusing those funds they just disappeared with zero consequences or oversight of the funds .
I say that to say I am blocked as a black female found that saw something I was not supposed to witness also again very unfortunately this is normal in the deep South. ( I mean zero offense but this is very real and true )
On that note prior to the blackball I built across the country , we are the same jewels we aim to extract , we however will have a solid foundation of true DEI.
Year one : The first year of impact looks like us proving our blueprint via pilot Headquarters in Nashville , TN .
We want to work together / partner with stakeholders in our community to build capacity and scale from Nashville to other cities urban and rural .
We want everything that a city does not , what could we mean by that ?
We want blighted properties , humans in poverty , dilapidated hotels , community land trust , the very same incentives and opportunities offered to BIG box companies causing the local gentrification .
We witness these programs promise to help the locals then when they " Help " it is never what was promised . ( This exactly why we want to show this data on a statistical fact basis as the data does not exist)
We'd start our 1st eco system from this headquarters complete with all 4 pillars of Vision Heir INC. ( Building Partnerships , Eviction / homelessness prevention , Innovative JOBS Solutions , and Whole Family Restoration mental restorative treatments with family team building )
Year two -five : Take this and duplicate proven results born from a chance given to build , some have done it so long in Nashville with little to no result we change this narrative in the work we do .
I've totally been framing this the entire application which I pray does not count against us as it is really real life for us day in and day out .
Each person serving in our org must be the opposite of what my experience was in being a unknown token black person . Specifically , the grants would speak of how privileged the saviors were building us black leaders they had 50k income and up to our poverty . ( And they won every single grant saying THAT )
Once I finally figured out I was infuriated every single thing I saw behind the scenes of many " helping " but really not helping at all non profits I VOWED to never ever operate like that EVER .
Not only is it discriminatory it was dehumanizing and almost the mental death of me as a black woman intentionally .
I must speak on this because it is a part of our story , Each board member is formerly homeless not at any particular financial advantage over the participants.
We have an ALL people can philosophy apparently we don't come in privilege but we each come in real life lived experience to guide others not as attorney's but to provide options to remain housed .
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH TRUIST FOUNDATION & MIT SOLVE :
This would be the very spark we need to an entire very innovative trailblazing revolution we seek longevity type growth to scale with the entire Truist Foundation and MIT Solve .
Many places that we pitch for funds do not look at us as capable as I was researching MIT SOLVE & Truist Global innovations we fall right in place with all the overlapping social impacts with a strong social justice backbone .
We want to krank out tons of leaders from our severley undeserved commnunities , we are not greedy either this help will spark our sustainability in the most major way .
We are tired of being seen streotypically and not heard I truly feel THAT is the true alignment with THIS platform we will be seen for the treasure we are and the treasures we will unveil in our own communities that are buried by barriers literally !!!!
To me I can see us being so very HUGE to this platform and our development this can go to the moon , just by us getting the tools we need .
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development, etc.)
- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and national media)
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
Funding is the biggest tool we need in conjunction with legal services for our clients especially towards real legeslation change inside housing disparities , from witnessing so many families living in their cars with no help available because they have a car.
We envision ourselves as one of my favorite movies " THE VESTA ROSE AGENCY " a bunch of repurposed sterotyped misfits that are literal jewels and can turn the economy around with a small spark !!!!
Remember the 80's song WE are the WORLD we are the children that's my generation I really do feel we are of those innovative world changers that see a horrible problem that needs SOOOOO many solutions .
We are the proximal non savior's that will teach our tenants to fish so that they will never hunger again .
Vision is literally our name and we are here to bring real life solutions to real life people that deserve a second chance at life , that is exactly what a partnership with us will look like .
Generations of unending whole family restoration and economic stimulation so families will stop loosing homes and literally help themselves out of poverty barrier free !!!!
Habitat for Humanity , American Job Centers , Metro Nashville GOV the Mayor's Office ( participating in the creation of a much needed office of housing for Nashville , TN ) , Job Corps , Safe Haven ( was just transitioned out of their RRH program in Feburary release date was 09/2021) , Corner to Corner The Academy , MOMS , Claiborne Family of Faith Worship Center , Red Baby Publishing ( House Publisher ) , TSU Agiucultural Center , FACES of HUD Housing Unity Project ( RV Tours & all 10 HUD reigions ) , All Universities in Nashville to start for capacity building and research / data creation , HUD , MDHA , THE Housing FUND , BARNES FUND, Nashville Promise ZONE , Martha O Bryant ,LEAPPAD ,Building Youth Partnerships , There is a rural area that is a 500 acre old childrens home that is our ultimate goal to make an eco community blueprint model .
All of these are in the capital of Nashville and or the Deep South we need a chance to give a chance we would LOVE to be able to collaberate with these agencies to build statewide capacity each city !!!!
