It is for women, the unorganized group-centered approach to give solutions for financial and business growth
1. solution: provide small investment to restart their small business during the post-covid-19 period. Give INR 5000 as a grant or loan to one vendor
2. solution: impart financial literacy according to their level to manage their finance and business
3. solution: create awareness about covid-19 and motivate them to adopt preventive measures during the business in the street and with families
Specific problems of women street vendors:
1. No investment to restart their business during the post-covid-19period. Now our Govt allowed street vending businesses. During the lockdown period, they spent all their saved money to feed the family, family expenses, etc. Now, No money to restart their business and earn money for livelihood. They are unorganized and have no assets in their families. The Govtbankers and private financial institutions are ready to give loans/investments because they have no assets, even no proper houses. So the families are suffering by no income for their small business which creates poverty and hunger in their families
2. Most the street vendors are not aware of the financial management o stand solve problems financial problems in the business
3. Unaware of covid-19 and no knowledge to prevent and control the virus themselves
All the information about their problems was identified our survey and group discussions with the group Also, we collected data from Govt sources and articles in the news papers and magaines
- We will arrange and provide a loan/ investment of INR 5000 to one vendor. We organize women vendors grouping each location. they will coordinate with us for investment, repayment, etc. totally of 100 vendors will get the support
- Lack of financial literacy, they lost their investment/ income by using an inappropriate financial system. So, we will give financial input and management, etc to them through orientation and training. So after the training, the vendors will effectively manage the fiance and run the business profitably
The solution serves 100 women street vendors. the women are economically and socially very backward. They are living in the slums and rural areas. They are the main provide income source for their families. All the vendors in Pudukkttai and nearby sub-urban areas
We understood their needs and problems through surveys and group discussions. We live in the same district and observed the problems. So far no financial institution or NGOs are giving support to them
They belong to a low caste as per the Indian system, all are Indians and all of them are women, economic poor, and their income is irregular. most of them are semi-literate. age between 24 to 45, many women are young widows
