IntelliED Analytics
Enabling educators to leverage a data-driven approach to improve learning outcomes and equitably accelerate growth for learners in the new normal.
IntelliED Analytics allows educators to effectively gather student data using their mobile devices under low-resource setting and provides insights regarding attendance patterns, academic performance, co-curricular data, time spent on online learning resources, and classroom engagement, etc., thereby providing a holistic view of students. IntelliED uses Machine Learning models trained on prior student performance data to predict future outcomes so that educators can address learning gaps and forehandedly devise personalized learning strategies for struggling students especially those from vulnerable backgrounds.
The tool helps educator set-up an Early-Warning-System (EWS) with custom metrics that notifies them in real-time whenever a student seems to be falling behind so that educators can quickly develop additional strategies and resources to help students get back on track-before it’s too late. With IntelliED’s built-in clinical research-based Social-Emotional-Learning (SEL) evaluation toolset, educators can better understand social-emotional-learning progress, as well as improve classroom behavior and overall well-being of their students.
Collectively, IntelliED enables educators to efficiently cater learning needs of diverse cohorts in a hybrid learning environment by leveraging a Data-Driven approach, which involves converting raw data points into actionable insights in order to mitigate learning gaps and improve student outcomes.
The pandemic posed several challenges for the education industry. In-person teaching was limited, learning losses were widening, students felt less engaged as they were struggling with isolation and learning disruptions brought on by the global pandemic. Studies revealed that educators were also struggling as they were burdened with an unmanageable number of students with varying learning levels and capabilities in one single classroom. Unfortunately, teachers were severely limited in their options and were forced to push their students through a “one-size-fits-all” gauntlet of learning, not personalized to their abilities, needs, or learning context. All this eventually led to an increase in the digital divide, greater learning losses, and an increase in the number of dropouts.
Experts estimate that over 30 million students in India will suffer significant learning losses and will be on the brink of dropping out as a result of the pandemic. As the future belongs to the hybrid learning environments, keeping students engaged, closing the digital divide, and addressing learning losses in this new normal is going to be a challenge for educators and school admins.
IntelliED Analytics provides a streamlined solution that brings together data from disparate sources and integrates it into a single platform to convert raw data into actionable insights helping educators to leverage a Data-Driven approach to address learning losses, improve student outcomes and equitably accelerate growth for every learner.
With COVID-related school closures, hybrid programs, and various reopening stages, collecting high-quality data on student learning became a challenge. In India, the digital infrastructure required to gather and utilize data to improve learning outcomes remains limited to elite urban schools, and that too is perceived as slow, difficult to use, or incompatible with other applications. As a result, currently, schools have their data disintegrated, soiled under various sources due to which creating reports for a large number of students, analyzing them, and providing precise feedback with personalized learning plans becomes a complex and time-consuming task for educators.
Whether it is an under-resourced rural school or an elite urban school that is already using a data management system, IntelliED provides them a proficient and cost-effective way of gathering and integrating the entire student data from multiple sources into a single platform, allowing educators to discover insights from in-person learning data (attendance patterns, academics & co-curricular data, SEL progress data, etc.) and online learning data (time spent on online resources, most used resources, etc.) thereby providing a holistic view of students. Our services help educators automate their routine administrative tasks and quickly generate comprehensive reports from large datasets, that can be used to deliver precise feedback & design personalized learning plans that address the learning needs of a diverse cohort, eventually leading to better student retention & learning outcomes.
Rather than starting by defining what school management needs as a whole, we opted for a user-centric approach by looking for pain points of educators and how we can significantly impact the way they interact with technology and use student data. One of our founding members hails from a family with a teaching background and leveraging his connections we were able to get easy access to educators. As part of our pre-product development market research, we interviewed more than 50 educators from various schools & universities located in different urban and rural districts. Through interviews, we found out about the gaps and inefficient ways in which schools & other higher-ed institutions manage their student’s data and are unable to leverage it to improve learning outcomes.
Educators agree that with a large number of students having diverse learning needs, it becomes very difficult for them to track progress and provide personalized feedback to their students as they all juggle between online and in-person classroom learning. From the get-go, we envisioned our platform to provide educators with the tools they need to equitably accelerate the growth of a diverse cohort while also being easy to use without much tech literacy. To help us achieve that, we onboarded two senior faculties as advisors who represent the viewpoint of users & assist us with their feedback at every stage of product development.
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community
After developing our MVP (Minimum Viable Product) we have tested our solution in the community and successfully proved our use case to be an effective and affordable option for our partner organizations. Currently, we have deployed our solution at full scale for our initial partner organizations and now are in the cyclic process of talking to users, fixing our bugs & enhancing our product while also talking to potential clients about new agreements across multiple communities.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
IntelliED Analytics provides a Web-based and a Mobile-based application that can be accessed by educators, students and school admins via their existing devices, sparing them the expense of purchasing any new hardware and allowing the solution to be used in under-resourced educational institutions. Students and teachers generate an endless trail of data, which when examined manually in isolation seems to be just individual data points with no relation with each other and can sometimes be easily missed or overlooked. But when analyzed holistically, it can paint a completely different picture of the cohort, and our tech stack is simply designed to make use of large datasets to help educators make smarter decisions throughout the learning progression.
IntelliED uses Machine Learning models trained on prior student performance data to predict future outcomes like forecast their academic performance, predict attendance patterns, anticipate a learner's likelihood of completing a course, and estimate the chances of dropout among other things.
Educators provide data about attendance patterns, academic and co-curricular data, SEL progress, etc. directly into the application and our custom-built APIs acquire data about how students spend time on digital learning platforms, which resources they use the most, and how actively they participate in online lectures, among other things. By combining their data from both in-person learning and online learning activities, we provide schools a holistic view of their students.

We currently work with 7 educational institutions across multiple districts, helping 300+ educators and impacting more than 8000 learners. In the next year, we are planning to add 30 more institutions to our client list through which we’ll assist 1000+ educators and will be impacting more than 30000 learners from rural, urban, and suburban districts.
Following are our impact goals for the next year:
Direct Impact Goals
- Reduce the time educators spend on non-administrative tasks so that they focus on teaching or on other beneficial activities.
- Improve overall student outcomes.
- Increase student retention rate at our partner institutions.
Indirect Impact Goals
- Our impact is also based on the quality of recommendations we provide based on our Machine Learning models, Early Warning System (EWS) and Social-Emotional-Learning (SEL) toolkit, which educators use to devise intervention strategies for struggling students. Though recommendations are primarily qualitative, we will track the overall cohort performance as an indirect indicator of the quality of recommendations we make in order to measure it quantitatively.
We are tracking the following indicatorsto measure our progress towards our impact goals:
- % Decrease in time educators spend on non-teaching and other administrative tasks.
- % Increase in student retention rate.
- % Increase in overall student performance.
- Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR): Though revenue and number of institutions we partner with are not direct indicators of our impact, an increase in MRR suggests an increase in the number of educators and learners we serve, and the more lives we can touch, the greater is our potential to impact.
Financial Barriers: As our current cash burn is nearly equal to our current revenue, we will require additional funding to rapidly expand our solution across multiple communities.
Legal Barriers: At IntelliED Analytics, we deal with various types of student learning data that may or may not be classified as sensitive information. Our stand on privacy is very clear: we will engage with students’ data ethically, transparently and in partnership with their educational institution. Different countries/states/districts, however, have their own data processing and information gathering guidelines, and adhering to those rules will certainly be a challenge as we expand outside of our own country.
We are a team of Data Scientists, Software Developers, and UIX Designers that have prior experience in product development, working in startups, and managing projects in established MNCs.
