Double Double U (WW)
Extraction for water and fertilizer from waste vegetables and fruits.
Our concept intends to make the most benefit of vegetables and fruits wastes by designing a system that depends on evaporation and condensation to extract the water they contain then using the remainder as fertilizers. The aim of this project is to reduce wastes, helps in agriculture, waste utilization, and be a new source of water. The mechanism begins by incising the input and placing it in a high-temperature environment to evaporate the water it contains, then converting the produced vapor to a low-temperature environment to condense it, and finally collecting the condensed water to obtain the output.
The main issue that the project addresses is the water resource base, especially in Egypt; as Egypt focuses its efforts on finding an alternative source for the Nile and the usual sources. In the case of this project, there are other two benefits: The first one is waste utilization which is a solution to the waste problem especially crop wastes and organic wastes, the second one is making fertilizers which is the solution to the increasing agriculture and industrial bases. All of the mentioned problems pertain to all countries whose economy, food, and water security are based on agriculture, such as Egypt, or countries that face problems with water resources.
Governments and peasants of countries whose economy, and food and water security are based on agriculture, or which face problems with water resources; as one from our conclusions after a lot of trials that were found was applying the project on large scale would be considered as a new source of water and organic Fertilizers, besides to that it would avoid the community insignificant quantities of wastes.

Increasing water and fertilizers, decreasing wastes. The importance of these solutions is that they touche the reality of most societies and countries ز
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
This stage is doing the test-plan of the idea. In the test-plan, the relationships between a lot of variables will be studied through the variety of modifications in the prototype, these variables are; Quantity of water, Taken time, Area of prototype, efficiency, PH of the output. There was a pre-test that was to determine if the mechanism works or not, and this test did not need the prototype. We used a heater to simulate the hot medium, and the condensation part will happen naturally after cutting off the heat and putting a cold metal lid. The qualitative and the quantitative variables were measured by collecting the data of the final
results of the one-hour test for every modification. This was done to measure the direct relationship between the sample cross-section/time the vegetables were left and the amount of water produced.
The results showed that more cross-section area that faces the atmosphere make more flow rate and no effect on efficiency. Efficiency depends on the time that the sample had last in an inverse relationship, treatment of the water depends mainly on the sample, and The expected average efficiency in the case of the fertilizers would be 71.3%.
- A new technology
A rectangular shape was made out of junk iron sheets and contains a small box. the small box contains a heater to create a hot medium and the rectangle would be the cool medium. The vapor would transform from the inner box to the external rectangle through a hole in the upper side of the box. The water would condense on the walls of the rectangle and it would be collected through a pipe in the corner by making the tabular with a slope to the pipe. And there is a further development that is using Arduino to control the time, heat, and other details instead of controlling them manually and adding a sensor in the upper hole in the smaller box to open automatically when the steam is at a certain level.

In 2019, 20.62 percent of the employees in Egypt were active in the agricultural sector, and this percentage is which the solution serves as it provides them A place to rest; as it would give them compensation in the case of that part of their crops or the entire crop are spoiled.
During the next year, we will focus our attempts to study all the variables and relationships that affect the efficiency of the solution and determine what its design would be in a real, and other details related to its large-scale implementation in Egypt, then request the government’s consultation in an attempt to start implementing it and then circulating it.
we are measuring our progress by comparing the details that we concluded and studied by collecting the data from the test every Over the passage of time: for example: at first, our conclusion was that just the mechanism is working, after that -after new tests - some relationships related to the form of the sample and result was collected, now the relationships between the time that the sample last and the water quality is studied, besides that our hope to study what effects the fertilizers in future.
Lack of measuring tools like pH meter or TDS meter, Some of these have alternatives, such as the pH meter; we used the litmus paper, and others do not, such as the TDS meter, but even with the presence of the indicative, these alternatives are less accurate. There is also the obstacle of geographical location, where the team members are separated by about 950 km, but we solve this problem by limiting the work in the school, as it is a boarding school located in the capital
We are high school students studying in a school on the system of STEM schools, studying in that system is what made us qualified to set up this project; As the system requires that we do a project every semester, therefore, we have acquired the skills we need, such as research, constructing a prototype, testing it, analyzing results, determining recommendations, and other scientific and academic skills. In addition to our presence in the qualified community to help us in working on the project because of teachers and those with experience in project-work and finding solutions, and the existing laboratories are well-equipped that help us build and test the Prototype.
Indirectly, we can consider that it is our school (Maadi STEM School for Girls) because of the assistance it provides to us as we mentioned.

Winning this prize will help us to make an actual step and start implementing our well-organized plan. We have several developments that we want to apply to our project and in order to start testing it, we need a financial resource.
