Braille Reader
Use AI-based software to translate text and speech into Braille in healthcare facilities.
Create an application that will be used by health workers to communicate with the visually or speech impaired individuals.
Miscommunication between health professionals and the individuals who are visually impaired,it is difficult for people with this kind of disability to comprehend when health workers give them medication which is not written in Braille and most of the time they end up taking the wrong dosages or medication due to miscommunication between a health worker and a visually disabled patient.About 50000 Basotho suffer this health inequality almost daily.
This solution will serve visually or speech impaired patients who are currently not getting the same effective communication from health workers because the health workers do not understand or know sign language.
This solution will help by translating the health workers prescriptions and instructions into Braille so that the patients can understand.
I have done research with visually impaired individuals who are directly affected by this health inequality.
