First and foremost, our problem discusses beauty standards around 13-18 years old and how they impact their body, their health, and their life. They grow up in a world where beauty standards can decide their beauty rank of level, a higher level means you have more opportunities in beauty competitions or even in work. Increasing attention to beauty standards often results in bullying. A total of 170,000 people aged 13 to 24 were polled in 30 countries. This included 1,788 in Vietnam, where 21% said they had been victimized by online bullying. In addition, according to one study, 94% of teenage girls and 64% of teenage boys have experienced body shaming. Furthermore, to a study by the Girl Scouts of America in 2010, out of over 1000 teenage girls surveyed, 88% of the ls believe media puts have a lot of pressure on them to be thin and 60% said they compare their body to what they see in magazines
We aim for both in local and international not so far in the future so our target population is about 8000 people will use our app in over the world. One study reports that at age thirteen, 53% of American girls are "unhappy with their bodies". This grows to 78% by the time girls reach seventeen so users of our app will almost be students. In addition, this app was created to solve their problems. This app can consider as an emotional healer for them. A lot or little of our solution will also have an impact and the positive influence from the app is the way we want to send to our users and their lives.
We will identify the people we will help by the way that we are going to promote our app. Additionally, we are going to shoot promotional videos also send messages to those who need help from virtual robots we have in the Self-love app. Also, we will design posters to advertise and people who need help will see them and they will use the app.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
We are in the process of developing the features of the app.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
Nowadays, technology is developing more and more powerfully. People are very fond of using modern devices like smartphones, laptops,... So we decided to create the app to make things easier. Instead of looking for someone to consult or talk with, now you already have Self-love where you can get inspired by a positive community and be consulted by virtual professional consultants. With just an app your problem can be solved by nearly 99%. Everyone can access Self-love every time and everywhere so it is really useful for people who do not have much time and want a simple app that can solve their problems. Additionally, it's also free for both Android and IOS.

- Vietnam
Currently, we are living and studying in Vietnam, so we want to choose Vietnam first. We expect that in 2020 about 3000 people will know and use our app. That is the number of people within Vietnam that we expect to have. In our opinion, the users practically will be high school students and people who study in university. In the next year, we are going estimate our users up to 7800 people and also expand the range of users in both local and international.
Our solution will work because the application we make will let everyone realize that each person has their beauty, your beauty not just judged by society's beauty standards. Moreover, our app was created to help people who lack confidence regain their confidence. It will help them to solve the problem of beauty standards. They can talk together, create common goals, inspire, and get inspired through a positive community in Self-love, with this amazing community they also can make friends and communicate with real people that have the same problem as them. In addition, the app also reminds people every day when they choose their goal on the Goal page, a place where Self-love is going to give goals to help you become a person that beautiful from inside to outside. They can have the opportunity to step out of their comfort zone. Those are some wonderful features you can experience when you use self-love.
Once we complete our app, we will advertise this app as much as possible. We can introduce it in school, in public places, or on the website that we are going to establish for this app. If we have a chance to be in the top 10 and be sponsored by MIT, we will develop more and more features that can help solve the problems of people who be bullied and body shamed. We hope when our app is finished and be used by many people, it can support them in the duration of healing from beauty standard problems. In addition, we know our app will not help them with all of the problems but at least it can have a big impact and become a friend when they don't have anyone to share about their difficulties. Furthermore, we also expect feedback from people when they use it will be positive and let us know which features need more improvements and which features we should add more to make our users be able to use this app easily without searching on the internet and also help their problem faster and safety.
As a student in high school, the first and also the most difficult barrier for us is financial. Our solution needs more money than we expect. Moreover, we need technical support and it does not cost a small amount of money. We are still high school students and none of us have any big savings so it is an important problem with us.
Beauty standards are not a problem for a few people, but even teenagers often face them. Including us who are implementing this project. What is this problem? is a distorted view of beauty standards that has affected the psychology and health of some young people. Since we are also teenagers and have experienced psychological problems due to beauty standards, we can say we know and understand very well. We understand their psychology with empathy, so it's easier to soothe them. That's why we choose this topic and offer solutions to help young people improve their mental health.
We are currently working with IGC Global Tay Ninh. They will support us in the process of creating this application by training and guiding us in making our project possible. They also will provide financially for us too, if our project is one of 10 projects be selected.

Ngoc, from the south-central province of Ninh Thuan, Vietnam, is of Chinese origin. For as long as she can remember she’s been attacked with nicknames such as “braced fatty” or “mammoth girl”. You can see here, body shaming does not just happen to teenagers, it affects all of the different age groups. Cosmetics blogger Van Miu is also a victim who chose to share her story. Van Miu first founded her blog to deliver make-up advice but quickly found that bullies thrive behind the safety of their keyboards. It wasn’t long after she began posting the videos that she began being criticized for an “unbalanced” and “unnatural” appearance. From some examples here, we become more and more aware of the severity of toxic beauty standards. Nowadays, there are lots of organizations that aim at curbing body-shaming and helping Vietnamese youth develop a positive self-image. However, we still want to contribute a bit to the battle against body shaming because it's also good for us who are now teenage girls and need to face society's beauty standards. Beauty standards always fear people who have been bullied by toxic communities. We hope that our contribution can have a great impact on everyone. Since we are all females, we have several things in common so it is easier to discuss. There are issues that only women can know about, so that's also an advantage for us. Speaking of beauty standards, we have experienced some of the problems that many people are facing. Because we have been through it, we can share our opinions and feelings with everyone. In addition, we can motivate people who are having similar problems. I met many girls and especially my cousin. She has a rather chubby body, with giant thighs so people often make fun of her at school. I found her sad, so I showed her some self-improvement exercises and also definitely will introduce to her our app when it completes. Now she is much more confident than she used to be. We are the main character of our story, not everyone's story, so we don't need to change any natural things in our bodies to fit with the beauty standards.
