Cloud Pads
Cloud aims to Redesign the Menstruator's Period Experience by producing a Period Pad that is healthy, yet 100% biodegradable and compostable using innovative plant-based materials.
At Cloud, we pride ourselves in being the first Period Pad that is a Healthier, Fully Biodegradable and Accessible alternative to disposable, plastic-based sanitary pads in the MENA region. We also fall in the sweet spot of being only
10% more expensive that these conventional pads, whilst being more affordable than our Organic Competitors in Western Markets, thanks to our Banana Waste recycling methods and proximity to Banana Plantations in the region.
Menstruators have normalized the use of disposable, plastic based sanitary pads that harm their bodies by causing allergies, rashes and infections, but
also harm the environment by producing over 113,000 tons of non-recyclable waste per year.
By targeting Menstruators aged 12-40, Cloud aims to be part of the Millennial and Gen Z movement towards a Healthier Lifestyle on a Healthier Planet as well as their active lifestyles through the convenience of customizable subscriptions that are delivered to their doorstep.
Cloud has already hosted a series of physical events gathering around 100 to 150 menstruators to talk about the necessity of understanding Menstrual Health with experts in the field, Medical Professionals. Through these events, we have gathered a wide focus group of Middle Eastern Menstruators that are committed to act as our early adopters once the product is clinically certified. We have also partnered with NGOs such as Dawrati to offer our pads at a subsidized cost for their First Period Kits.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
Cloud has achieved numerous milestones to date, such as gathering an equity free pre-seed funding of $ 35,000 through various startup competitions and incubators. This amount has helped us produce our first four prototypes, the latest of which is now submitted to ISO certified testing clinics for verification.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
At Cloud, we rely on integrating Plant Based Materials for a 100% biodegradable product from pad to packaging. This technology is combined with machine learning to offer our customers a tailormade subscription service that delivers the pads to their doorstep, at a frequency that suits their cycle best.

The main goal of Cloud is to redesign the period experience for menstruators, considering that this topic is heavily neglected in the MENA region although it constitutes a major pain in our daily lives. Helping Menstruators in making their cycle easier on their bodies, on their schedules and on the environment increases their chances in reaching optimal functioning in their daily lives, making a step further in reducing gender inequalities.
