AFTT INITIATIVE
Our initiative provides teenagers with the opportunity to acquire a skill such as manufacturing of bio gas, Web design and App building.
AFFT INITIATIVE as an organisation is solely focused on helping teenagers in acquiring valuable skill that would help them grow as individuals. We understand that the reason young people engage in social vices is illetracy and idleness. So as an organisation, our goal is to ensure that all the young people we come across as we organise our projects will be imparted with valueble skill set ranging from manufacturing of bio gas, website developement and App building. In our ever evolving world, we believe these skill set can help these young people build a career for themselves and eventually become better citizens. We organise bootcamps and special trainings for both rural and urban communities in the state.
As an organisation, we are focused on solving the problem of teenage violence and their engagement in cultism and other social vices. A survey carried out in 2019 showed that 67% of teenagers living in the slump or water front area of our communities engaged in one anti social behaviour or belonged to one street cult group or the other. This highlights rate at which these young people engage in these anti social behaviour and the insecurity it poses in these communities and the state at large on the long term. People have argued that bad governance is the major culprit to this problem but we beleive that there are other root causes to the problem such as bad parenting and extreme negligence, illiteracy, and most importantly the lack of vital skill set for young people. Lastly street cultism, political thuggery and millitancy that have ravaged our communities are all offspring of unharnessed teen energy. Most notably the millitancy insurgency which broke out and distabilized the niger delta region of the country all started from the water front and creeks.
Our project serves young people between the ages of 13-22.(both girls and boys). These are young people who we feel are vulnerable to the said problem and for one reason or the other have not had the opportunity to go to school or maybe dropped out of school. Some others are in school but still influenced by these negative forces in our communities. Since the government has not been helpful in creating the right bodies or institutions to cater for these young people, we decided its our co-operate responsibility to effect changes and properly harness the energies and talents of these young people so it could benefit them and their families on the long run and subsequently have a ripple effect on the society as well. Our solution is set to empower these young people with the following skill set. 1. Manufacturing of bio gas, 2.web design, and 3. APP developement. This we believe will profit them in our ever evolving world.
we are in partnership with an organisation known as READ FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE. And have voluntarilly worked with them in organising several seminars and bootcamps for students in my community and the state at large. Sensitizing these students on the importance and value of developing a good reading culture. So our organisation has decided to take it a step further by impacting these teenagers with valuable skill set. We have also been able to contact our community chairman who is super excited about our project and is in full support. We also intend partnering with three (3) secondary schools in the communities who would also help us with additional support in organising our project and also our pre planned "TECH HUB" which will commence immediately after our project is carried out.
- Improving financial and economic opportunities for all (Economic Prosperity)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
our services will be tested in these water front comunities.
1. Enugu water front.
2. Okujiagu water front.
3. Ibadan water front.
4. Post office water front.
5. Abuja water front.
6. Cemetary water front.
7. Borokiri water fronts.
Each of these water fronts have over a thousand teenagers and youths that can benefit from our project.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
Through Our new technology, we are able to train these young people on how to recycle unmanaged waste and turn them to bio gas thereby combating climate change. And through our trainings, our beneficiaries can leverage their skills to opportunity.
- Biotechnology / Bioengineering
- Software and Mobile Applications
- Nigeria
our solution intends to serve about five thousand teenagers and their families.
Our impact goals for the year ahead is to raise a nitche of about three thousand (3,000) teenage entreprenures that would raise the standard of living in their homes and subsequently join forces with us to raise others.
We plan to measure our progress based on the effectiveness of our proposed TECH HUB which would help in Promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and developement of our beneficiaries.
Our major current barrier is finnancing our project. We currently need finances to purchase training equipement and resource materials for our project.
Our team is a group of young talented people who are hungry for growth and development of others. We have all in various forms worked voluntarily for different non profit organisations to help improve our societies. And since we are all young people chasing the improvement of other young people, we are better placed as representatives of those we serve.
We are currently partnering with THE READ FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE, and OCM CUSTOMER SERVICE LTD. And these organisations are helping us with additional training resources.
