Heart with mind
An app that uses a wristband to detect our emotions and send alerts in case they are negative.
Our heartbeat often gives away our emotions, as well as our reathing and gestures. A person with anxiety may have seizures and these lead to a higher heart rate. The application together with a wristband that takes our heart rate would take this data and compare it with a database where the heart rate tests of people in different moods, including anxiety, would be stored.
If the results are negative, it would send an alert and in case of fear or anxiety, it would try to locate a family member. If the person presents symptoms of a panic or anxiety attack, it would play relaxing music and a breathing guide until the heartbeat returns to normal, if after a while it still has not been controlled, it would contact a family member or someone from the emergency list.
health and technology would be mixed in the development of this app, programmers, designers, doctors and psychologists would be part of it, besides consulting data and real information that would help with this project.
this application would benefit people who suffer from anxiety, not to fall and help them to get up.
Mental health is a very important issue that still does not have all the attention it should, cases of depression and suicides are increasing day by day. In my country Mexico in 2020, the total number of deaths in the country (1 069 301), 7 818 were due to self-inflicted injuries, which represents 0.7% of deaths and a suicide rate of 6.2 per 100 000 inhabitants, higher than the rate recorded in 2019 of 5.65.
The problem with this is that it is not detected and many times it is because we do not know how we feel, in young people it is confused with hormonal changes due to age or because we are lazy we stop doing things we used to like to do.
the application will be intended for those people who have been previously diagnosed with any problem, whether anxiety, depression, among others.
It would help them to create a record of daily emotions and create a diary to know why and what things made them feel this way, each user would have personalized help depending on the emotions detected. Panic attacks could be prevented and in case they are alone help them with breathing guides and relaxing sounds, this with the purpose of helping and improving life, make it more calm and peaceful.
We have read the news and the mortality due to suicides during the pandemic has been alarming, the numbers are increasing every day, even if the development of this project does not diagnose a person with a disorder, it helps to cope with the problem.
This project is still an idea so we have not yet consulted with experts or interviewed the target audience.
- Other: Addressing an unmet social, environmental, or economic need not covered in the four dimensions above
Mental health in young people and how to help people who suffer from disorders to deal with it in the best way. because today it is an extremely important issue and as a result of this many physical health problems arise.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
This solution is still in the first phase, it is still a concept that wants to be developed. We have the ideas but we are still working on the structure to carry it out, for example to get information, create a group of people who support the idea and join in. We are still working and trying to solve a big problem in our community and the world.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
The software would be one of our main tools since it will create the brain of the application, databases with user information, with each new input of data received the application will become increasingly intelligent, on the other hand the pulsometers that detect changes in the heartbeat would be different from those found in the market since they would have new technology that would share data with the application and the application would interpret them depending on the information obtained.

It is expected that this application will be recommended by psychologists to their patients who believe that they meet the requirements to use them, the first year it is expected that psychologists recommend the application to 10000 patients and that at least 7000 users will be active during the first 6 months, these numbers are subject to change depending on how many psychologists and therapists want to participate in the project and the patients they have.
As mentioned before, the application can only be used by people who have been previously diagnosed by a professional, as self-diagnosis and use of the application could only worsen the situation of the person who is not yet in treatment.
The pulsometer will be distributed only by professionals who recommend the application to their patients.
The main objectives are to help people who suffer from any mental disorder, whether anxiety, depression, bipolar and any other that the application can help.
The data obtained weekly will be sent to the user's psychologist or therapist so that each session will be more personalized and better results will be obtained in less time, this does not mean that the person can stop going to therapy, just that the results will be noticed faster.
We would measure progress with the objective number 3 good health and well-being, since mental health is as important as physical health, many times because we do not pay enough attention to it, we do not do things we would like to do and we put a limit on ourselves. With a good mental health people can be more creative, more expressive, kind and the coexistence between all the population would improve.
Mainly because the issue of mental health is being recognized as a serious problem, the costs of appointments and therapies are excessively high and many people do not seek care for the same reason. In Mexico only 2 out of 10 Mexicans go to see a psychologist, which is alarming because schools do not teach what mental health problems are, how important and serious they are and the consequences of these.
Besides this, one of the barriers that are presented is the culture or rather machismo as it is seen that only women are allowed to express emotions such as sadness, this makes the disorders increase in men and that therapy is frowned upon.
I am currently in my last semester of high school, I am majoring in programming which helps the project, I have an idea of how to manage and create databases, how to create websites. I have the basics about different programming languages such as html, php and javascript. this last semester I will learn about creating web applications which will help me in the idea.
