AMR Gamification
Mine is a game that will be played to activately create awareness on the global threat, Antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Time and again AMR awareness creation has been done passively that the general public don't really understand the problem AMR would create in case we went back to preantibiotic era where"small" diseases used to kill. So when playing the game, general public will get to learn on the causes and effects of AMR or rather drug resistance. All this will be clearly outlined in the game while playing. WHO has declared that AMR is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity. One way to stopping AMR is creating awareness to the general public as most people contribute to AMR unknowingly. So the game will clearly show contributing factors of AMR eg taking over the counter medication without a prescription, taking over or under dose, poor hygiene, lack of immunization/vaccination, etc and effects such as increased hospital stays, increased medical bills, increased morbidity and mortality rates. All will be outlined in the game through playing it.
Solving antimicrobial resistance which is a global threat. As stated above, WHO has declared that AMR is one of the top 10 global public health threats facing humanity. According to world bank, each year, 700,000 people die of AMR. Without action, the death toll could rise even higher, to as many as 10 million deaths annually by 2050 and cause a 3.8 percent reduction in annual gross domestic product (GDP), as identified in a 2017 report entitled 'Drug-Resistant Infections: A Threat to Our Economic Future'. As listed above factors contributing to AMR are lack of awareness and doing the following activities, taking OTC drugs without prescription, taking over or under dose, poor hygiene, lack of immunization, taking expired drugs, saving meds for later, taking leftover meds, taking antibiotics for viral infections, taking animal products from animals that recently got injected with antimicrobials or vaccines etc effects of AMR include increased hospital stays, increased medical bills and medication cost, increased morbidity and mortality rates.
My solution target population globally more so the general public. The current generation is much involved in technology including games so I thought this would reach a good number world wide. Although it's not a direct solution, it's a long term solution to AMR. To stop AMR, awareness creation is key. Passive awareness has been used time and again but since people don't see the impact immediately, it always fall in deaf ears. This game will show the effects through playing and definitely create awareness actively.
Through this active awareness creation, most people will stop the activities contributing to AMR and through this, AMR will be delayed and the effects mentioned above will be reduced thus improving quality of life, making use of human power as hospital stays will be reduced and medical bills reduced as well as morbidity and mortality rates.
AMR awareness week is on the 18-24th November every year. I usually make sure I get involved in awareness creation. I have been involved in World Animal protection(WAP) Africa, ReACt Africa, Student Against Superbugs(SAS), MSAKE. During AMR awareness week last year, I was involved in AMR youth summit which was global on zoom meeting with this very innovation. I was also involved in "My Turn" a competition for AMR innovation, research and Art. In 2020 I was involved in a survey in conjunction with WAP. I also got an award as an AMR champion for using my Facebook account to create awareness.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
Mine is just a concept or may I say something in ideation phase that I have in mind. I have just outlined the frame work but I don't have the skills and financial support to actualize it.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
Mine is an existing technology to be used in a new way to solve a global threat. Games are played for fun but this 3D game will be both for fun and awareness creation in the name of protecting our antimicrobials and thus creating a whole new generation.

My project has not been launched yet. Incase it get launched it will serve millions of people and save the 700,000 people who die every year due to AMR. And spare the lives of the 10 million people annually by 2050 according to the estimates.
My goal is to create awareness globally and reach as many people as possible. By doing this, it is assured that the consequences listed earlier including increased hospital stays, increased medical bills, increased morbidity and mortality rates will be greatly reduced. Thus improving quality of life. Drug resistance won't be a big threat as it is now with active awareness.
Since the project hasn't been launched, what will be used is a survey to assess awareness after every game played.
SDGs that align with My solution:
Goal 3-Good health and we'll being- with AMR awareness creation, the consequences of increased hospital stays increased medical bills increased morbidity and mortality rates will be highly reduced.
Goal 8: decent work and economic growth- of course with a game tax will be paid promoting economic growth
Goal 9: industry, innovation and infrastructure- this 3D game itself is an innovation thus playing part in this goal
Goal 12-Responsible consumption and production- this game will be campaign ends for good use of medication to stop drug resistance
Goal 17- partnerships to achieve the goal- I can't do this alone I'll need other people to help me achieve AMR world free
Finance- am just a mere student with no source of income and no partnerships to sponsor my project.
Technical- I don't have the technological skill to actualize the concept I got for a 3D game.
Legal- I don't know how to go about copyright and other legal issues concerning creating a 3D game.
I'm a medical student and I've come across many cases of drug resistance or rather AMR and I understand perfectly it's is a global threat and may affect bother the participants (contributors of AMR) and nonparticipantants.
I have been involved in creating passive awareness and I can attest that, most ppl lack knowledge of causes of AMR and the consequences/effects.
To implement the solution, it will all be in the game as the causes and consequences will be clearly outlined in the game. In addition to educative information on every level.
I haven't partnered with anyone.

Gender equality- am a female, in my society, the female gender is seen as the lesser gender this would be a good chance to show otherwise.

I have been involved in creating awareness with my social media partform.
