Quest School
A new decentralized university dedicated to pushing for human progress by enabling learners to explore their evolving purpose and meaningful existence while transferring useful knowledge to tackle big challenges.
Our purpose is to evolve into a new university.
Ushering a new era of education designed for learners to explore their evolving purpose and realize meaningful existence while transferring useful knowledge into the world population to tackle big challenges and push for human progress.
Our learning is multidimensional, consisting of byte-sized content in form of articles, books, pre-recorded lectures, and blogs that have been curated by leading tutors who update these over time to align with both societal and industrial demands. Each learner owns a personal dashboard enabling access to feedback from mentors and learning guides hence progress tracking and mastery. Supplemented by real-time seminars of 20 peers with a learning guide who acts more like a friend to help learners navigate their journeys and achieve success.
Using decentralized frameworks based on autonomous organizations, our courses will be made available to anyone with an internet connection, upon completion of modules, globally verifiable certificates based on blockchain technology will be offered to show proof of knowledge.
In the learning process, everyone involved in the useful transfer of knowledge is rewarded with tokens secured on the Etherum blockchain.
Demand for higher education is not being met by supply, driven by the rising costs, urgent need for solutions to societal challenges, loss of self and a widening skills gap. The existing institutions are inadequately addressing those challenges.
Student loan debt in the US alone was the second-largest component of household debt, at $1.55 trillion as of 2020 (Federal Reserve Bank of New York ) creating further headwinds for individuals navigating their careers and personal lives. Students spend thousands of dollars for degrees that do not guarantee a job, stable income, or standard of living.
Up to half of today’s jobs, around 2 billion, are at high risk of disappearing due to automation and other factors driving obsolescence by 2030 (International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity0
Higher education for long has been a centralized, corporatized, and profit over people-driven system, through this existing setup, knowledge has been held back from people it is supposed to help. Study portal estimates an increase of 120 million in tertiary enrollment around the world, and 2,3 million internationally mobile students by 2030.
Our target audience is students from lower-income backgrounds from across the globe. There are about 715 million people ages 18-23 globally which we understand to be anonymous with college age, the UN projects that the growth of this cohort will reach 800 million by 2040
Old archaic models of traditional schooling were designed for the recent generations and no longer serve the needs of the emerging student. Young adults as a result suffer from huge college debts and delayed returns on investments, forced to take up low-paying jobs with limited chances of advancements
Our project is disrupting higher education by changing incentives during the learning process in which students learn to earn tokens that can be traded. The intrinsic motivation of our ideal learners comes from the burning desire to change the world for good through project-based learning and access to lifelong mentors from across the globe.
Our unique model is called spaceship earth; students from across the globe come together to tackle global challenges while exploring their evolving purpose and meaningful existence.
I created multimedia groups to engage and understand the needs of our target students. We have a Discord server that is realizing new members join per month, an active telegram chat, and a WhatsApp group. All these are made up of 200 students in just three months from multiple countries interested in our future program offerings.
Online engagements have triggered members to volunteer for the project. For example, Noura Ejjamai is a 21-year-old student that joined the project via our partner youth organization in Morocco. She has skills in vocal mixing, script and decided to be part of our cast team so that can we produce podcasts and blog posts weekly in Arabic French, and English from time to time and we hope my presence will be beneficial for the team
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
Currently, we are designing our initial course offering and do not have high-level assets including a formal website. We are currently using no-code tools to collect immediate feedback from our potential users and have already created e-campuses using already existing technologies at a minimal cost.
Our first-course offering will serve as a demonstration of how the entire model of the project works but it has some time before actually launching since designing the learning journey takes in a lot.
- A new project or business that relies on technology to be successful
Using blockchain and other distributed technology tools, our project is set to evolve into a DAO University, a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation operating with no central control but rather micro-learning hubs and e-campuses that bring together students, industry experts, and learning guides.
In a DAO University, value and reputation associated with teaching and learning would be accounted for through a blockchain with no central control. Instead, the whole learning community would agree how the educational elements, for example, learning materials, teaching resources, and teaching delivery are shared and recompensed.
In addition, mobile technologies will help us facilitate a new learner experience and support more tailored, self-paced learning, identifying key strengths and areas of needed support for each student
Leveraging senior peers, alumni, and members of the community through tutoring (e.g. with the support of companies like Vygo), feedback sharing (e.g. Eduflow) and mentoring (e.g. Mentor Collective), real-time active learning seminars(e.g Zoom, Googlemeet, class)

Our massively transformative purpose is to build a vibrant and integrated learning ecosystem that changes a minimum of 2000 people’s lives each year and this could help narrow both the equity and skills gap and in return means creating at least $50 million of workforce impact every 12 months with 80% of that impact coming from the trajectory for individuals from less privileged communities.
Upon launch of our pilot course, we shall enroll 100 students to test the model and build a reputation among parents, partners, and founders. This shall enable us to collect quick data for iterating on the programs and building something that people like and are strongly attached to.
Our massively transformative purpose is building an interconnected learning ecosystem that changes a minimum of 2000 people’s lives each year could help narrow both the equity and skills gaps, this means creating at least $100M+ of workforce impact every 12 months with 80% of that impact coming from the trajectory for individuals from less privileged communities.
In the next year, we plan to broaden our program offerings to 5-degree programs designed to cater to the different learning interests of our diverse student body.
We shall host outreach conferences at 20 university campuses across the globe, each of these with an attendance of 200 people ranging from educators, parents, and industry experts.
Publish 50+ blog posts about our unique approach to education and host 100+ guests on our project's podcast.
Establish 5 learning hubs across different influential cities, each with a capacity of 200 remote learners, these are chapters that serve as lighthouses for our new paradigm shift in higher education.
The number of action projects and solutions to societal challenges.(capstone)
Knowledge uplift and location-based assignments to demonstrate application of course content to real-life situations
Passing rate for learners taking final capstone projects
learner satisfaction in terms of how likely enrolled learners are to recommend the course (micro learning) to friends
Qualitative data about the learning outcomes through focus groups, in-depth interviews, listener/viewer group discussions, individual media diaries, case studies
Higher education is a highly regulated space with little space for innovation, the location of our project matters a lot since it calls for a supportive environment that welcomes the perspectives of young people in shaping their own future. As the team lead, am still struggling to file forms of immigration to either Canada or the US since my current location (Uganda) is not ideal for realizing such a project. I still have a lot of limitations here and am afraid to get politicized criticism from old folks in this broken societal system.
The other challenge is getting technical personnel in joining the project. Being a knowledge enterprise, we need to onboard experts to offer their experience in designing a world-class educational experience.
Kyeyune Abraham is a learner part of the cognitive science lab at the University of California Davis and his research explores the use of computational models to learn how the mind works. He recently founded two successful Non-profit educational projects in Uganda where he created education programs for preschool students and youth.
He recently interned at the Global citizen year, a leading organization championing the gap year movement across the globe.
He is part of the biggest forums in higher education and technology, including the Singularity University community, futurextribe, K20 educators etc

Our project aligns with the purpose of the prize, to improve the quality of life for women and girls through access to transformative educational opportunities. Our team would use the prize to cater for curating more education and outreach programs targeting less privileged girls in the developing world.
Being awarded the prize gives us a jetpack to globally be recognized on multiple platforms and hence impact more of our target audience, it also means pooling talent and partners towards our cause of building the first decentralized university that nurtures learners to become critical thinkers and deeply human global citizens.
