Gamified Exercise
To solve the problem of obesity and laziness due to the current covid situation, we have developed a way to make people enjoy doing exercise by gamifying it.
Our solution is an app that will help you get motivated to exercise. It will have features like weekly leaderboards and leaderboards with friends to motivate you to exercise more. A more long-term feature would be prizes like gift cards which would motivate the person more to exercise. Another feasible idea is to have our app in smartwatches which would be something that we could be making ourselves eventually.
We are trying to solve the problem of laziness and not wanting to exercise. I think we can all agree covid has affected our lives somehow or another and being stuck at home does not help with laziness. A lot of people who were active prior to covid got addicted to video games and watching Netflix. Our idea will solve the problem b making exercising just as fun as playing video games or watching Netflix.
Our solution is designed to serve regular everyday people. It will help them get more active and connect people through the app. This app may help people get over body dysmorphia and other mental health problems. And I'm saying this from experience usually my mental health and mood is better when I am exercising. It will also give people realistic goals to reach rather than expecting them to set realistic goals because that's what usually causes body dysmorphia.
No steps taken so far.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
At this point in the stage, it's a solution that we came up with by researching and understanding the general population and its needs/wants. During Covid19 people stoped exercising and gaining weight which we all can agree is bad for our long term health and after speaking to a friend we came up with the idea for this solution. After about a month of research, we made a research paper for a possible solution.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
It's more or less gonna be an app that measures your heart rate, your steps, and everything like that. So pretty much everything we need is already on a phone. We would need a GPS tracker and a heart rate monitor. We would also need an app for that though.

Since it's still just an idea we don't serve anyone but we have backup from a company called The Tech Academy which has a lot of students. We were thinking of using the kids as our testers because as we all know kids are brutally honest so they have a lower chance of lying to us about pretty much anything. We would also have adults to test it on and we could get some help from The Tech Academy to make the app and help us and get the kids used to app building.
Well, our goal is to get people active and we would really need the app for that. But there is another idea we came up with which has already been made by TTA. I think we all know the game flappy bird, TTA made a game just like flappy bird but the bird will only go up if you jump. If we decide to do that we would need the app because we have the rest of the things we need because we bought it to make the mat for the flappy bird game but we ended up scrapping the idea.
We aren't really measuring progress since it's still an idea and we really haven't developed much of anything yet since it's just 2 13-year-olds making an idea and trying to do something because we see these problems and we want to fix them. Laziness is a real problem that we need to fix I mean it lives in all of us it's always there. Getting rid of it isn't easy and from experience, motivation is the only thing that helps me get out of bed and do something actually productive with my life and our app will help with that. For example, if I used that app I could wake up look at the leaderboard, and be like I need to be at the top of that thing it might just be because I'm competitive by nature though.
Our barriers are us at this point. We really have no clue idea how to properly make an app as we need. We would need a team around us to support us and make our app. But for the flappy bird thing we can figure out starting that on our own since we know people who have made it before and we can get their guidance and help on that one.
We have been in a gamified situation for a long time and were used to gamification. I think we understand gamification better than a lot of people. We are both students of TTA, TTA has a unique way of teaching. They use a model that they came up with and it really works. TTA teaches kids Animation, Game Development, and Robotics. Being in that program I thought why not help people with getting out of bed and making good habits. Maybe this could positively impact somebody and that is what I want from this idea.
TTA is on the verge of gamifying education in Bangladesh. We are using their platform of gamifying education to help with our solution of gamifying physical education.
