Offline Study Platform
A syllabus platform that aims to help children who do not have access to the Internet to continue their studies.
My solution is a platform that generates study plans, contains educational books, explanatory videos and recorded classes. The important about this is that it wouldn't need internet to work, all the information, books, videos, classes and other materials would be available for free.
This platform aims to help children and adolescents without Internet access to follow a study plan free of charge and from home. In this way, through any type of device, such as cell phones, tablets, computers and even televisions, students can obtain annual study plans generated by the platform based on the knowledge and age of each student.
Each student would initially have to perform an evaluation in which their level of knowledge would be obtained, and from the data obtained, a study plan would be developed.
All plans would contain daily assignments, readings and lessons, plus, like all schools, there would be mid-term and semester evaluations. In order to perform the assignments and evaluations correctly, students would have a guide about what they should study each day or week, and they would have at their disposal videos of classes from other schools explaining the required topics, books with the necessary information and explanatory videos.
The situation in Ecuador is extremely complicated due to the problems caused by the covid-19 pandemic. About one million students do not have the resources to continue with their academic activities, because only 37% of homes in the country have internet access, so 6 out of 10 students cannot follow virtual classes.
After almost two years since the schools closed, there are still hundreds of thousands of students who do not have the possibility to continue their studies, practically losing two years of their lives that they do not know how they will be able to recover.
In Ecuador, several possible solutions have been planned and thought of so that these students, especially in the rural sector, can continue their studies. However, no ideas have been implemented that would really improve the situation.
Today, the future of academic activities in the country is uncertain, as it seemed that they would return this year, but due to the massive contagions that are currently being recorded caused by the new variant of covid-19, all plans for the return to face-to-face attendance were postponed.
The solution I propose could be implemented, since in Ecuador 9 out of 10 homes have at least one device such as cell phones, computers or televisions, this could significantly improve access to study for millions of students.
In Ecuador there are about one million students who are currently unable to continue their academic studies, this is due to the fact that in the homes of these students there is no internet access. And as we know, the pandemic of covid-19 has caused that for almost 2 years, students can not attend classes in person, instead of this, the classes are developed virtually, thus protecting the health of students, teachers and staff of any school. But, what happens to the students who do not have the possibility to have internet connection? Well, there are hundreds of thousands of students in this situation, what happens is that they simply cannot continue with their studies. Even if schools were to open and face-to-face classes were to return, there are still thousands of children and teenagers who cannot get an education, either because they live in a very remote place where it is impossible to get to a school every day or because of extreme poverty.
With the platform that I present as a solution, I seek to reduce this problem as much as possible, as this can be of great help for all young people to have the opportunity to continue their studies, regardless of any social or economic level. This platform is a tool that could expand education widely and change the lives of millions of people, not only in Ecuador, but around the world.
Throughout the last few months I have done different investigations about the existing problems in the education system of Ecuador, and the problems that have been caused due to the pandemic of covid-19, in these investigations I could notice that a solution is urgently needed for all those students who for the last two years have not been able to study or for those who have never had the possibility of receiving academic education. From this I have thought about different solutions and I have managed to find a good idea that is realized through technology and I have been developing this idea to obtain a concrete concept of how this idea could work and be applied to improve the problematic situation.
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea
When I heard about the Solv[ED]’s 2021 Youth Innovation Challenge, I knew it was a great opportunity to develop an idea that could make a change in society and that could help a lot of people. The solution I am proposing for now is a concept that I have been developing to get a clear idea of how this could help and be a real solution. I have been developing my idea for a few months, through long research and various ideas I have managed to get a concrete concept of the solution I am proposing.
- A new project or business that relies on technology to be successful
Technology is the basis of the project that I propose, due to the entire project is based on a platform planned to be developed on devices such as televisions, computers, cell phones and tablets. Without being a traditional study platform, I want it to help solve a big problem such as access to study, abolishing the main problem, which is the lack of internet, presenting a study platform that only needs the internet at the time of being installed on a device. From there, this platform will be able to update itself and generate new functions without the need to be connected to the internet, this generating a source of information and study totally free for students.
- Software and Mobile Applications
- Ecuador
The main idea of the platform is to help all those students who have not had the opportunity to continue their studies due to the covid-19 pandemic and those who have never had the opportunity to have academic studies, therefore, the initial objective It is reaching out to help the millions of students in Ecuador, in rural areas or living in poverty, around one million young people. But the mission that this project could give is that it serves to change the lives of millions of students without internet access around the world.
