HOSGHANA

One-line solution summary.

HOSGHANA is a central hospital management system that is going to hold the medical records of all people in Ghana .And it is going to be accessible in all hospitals.

What is your solution?

Is a hospital management system.Is a web application that stores the medical records of patients it also provides doctors with ample amount of information about patients to help in diagnosing. It is a basically a website made with javascript.

What specific problem are you trying to solve?

All hospitals in Ghana store the medical records of patients on papers, which is not made accessible to other hospitals. And whenever the person moves to another hospital the medical records are left in the previous hospital so he or she starts afresh with a new folder in the new hospital there loosing his or her medical history. And when the need arises the person has to go back to the previous hospital for his or her records sometimes the person cant even get them. Sometimes due proper care not being given to medical records some are lost and others are even being eaten by rodents. Storing these numerous folders makes its handling and retrieval a hectic task ,people have to go through plenty folders to retrieve a single folder which could be a click away .In medical care even the slightest second could save a life since so much time is wasted when a new patient is brought in to get him or her a folder in the new hospital getting the blood type, allergies and what have you .Sometimes diseases that could have been cured easily if the had a huge database of records or the medical history of the patients may even send the patient to the grave.

Who does your solution serve? In what ways will the solution impact their lives?

All people in Ghana will benefit from HOSGHANA. Its just sad sometimes when we hear stories of people dying because Doctors didn't have their medical history or they were sent to get their medical records from their previous hospital and such valuable time is wasted in this process. Also so much time is wasted when patients visit their hospitals and their folders are being looked for their situations normally get worse.

What steps have you taken to understand the needs of the population you want to serve?

Our team had a survey and visited a couple of hospitals to verify this problem.We have suggested our idea tosome hospitals and they say it would really help the people to make processes at the hospital efficient and faster.

We have been able to build our web application and have run it so far so good and it is working fine.
