4all, be the change.
4ALL is an app that allows you to go carbon neutral immediately and sustainably. 4ALL helps you to offset your emissions, reduce your carbon footprint and multiply your climate impact.
4all is an app which helps its users connect and look after the environment while encouraging healthy habits to include in their life. As soon as the user registers, the APP asks him to take a quick carbon footprint test to better understand his environmental impact. Subsequently, 4all will weekly recommend the user an ecological habit that fits their lifestyle and helps reduce his personal CO2 emissions.
Moreover, the app contains a map which indicates a large web of sustainable stores, committed to the cause. Those stores, with healthy and environmentally-safe products (in bulk, local products...),facilitates users ecological facilities in order to achieve a better eco-friendly lifestyle and reduce their carbon footprints.
To sum up, 4all sets the user achievable and realistic goals, specific to reduce each individual carbon footprint. Technology is very present in this initiative. The carbon footprint calculator relies on the internet of things to make a short but accurate test, and its results and suggestions to the users are carried out by IA, that helps automate some parts of the process. What's more, the software of the APP is crucial for its existence.
4.2 million deaths every year occur as a result of exposure to air pollution (WHO data). Air pollution should be a global priority, as it can lead to the devastation of the planet. Air pollution consists of chemicals particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. Most air pollution is created by people, taking the form of emissions from factories, cars, planes, or aerosol cans.
On top of that, people experience a wide range of health effects from being exposed to air pollution. To name a few, air pollution can cause illnesses such as pneumonia or bronchitis, headaches, and nausea; or more concerning effects that can even lead to a person's death, such as heart disease, lung cancer, and emphysema. Like humans, animals can also suffer health effects from exposure to air pollution.
Unfortunately, there is more. Global warming is an environmental phenomenon caused by air pollution. This temperature rise is caused by an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, including carbon dioxide, the gas that has had the biggest effect on global warming. Therefore, cutting emissions of carbon dioxide is critical to slow the rate of global warming and its negative consequences.
Luckly, anybody can take steps to reduce air pollution. Thus, it is vital to give people tools that not only help them reduce their carbon footprint and consequently possible health problems, but tools that allow them to also contribute to the preservation of the earth's atmosphere.
The target population are those who are aware of the problems that air pollution represents and want to change their lifestyle and turn it into a greener one. Nonetheless, this change is not subtle, and without the adequate tools it comes as no surprise that many citizens abandon this thrilling idea. For instance, the person’s lifestyle changes entirely, from where they shop to what they eat, and it’s not always easy to shift our current habits and decide to actively choose more sustainable options. Plus, the word sustainable doesn’t really determine in what areas the user needs to change and what are the best alternatives.
The target population is not limited by age or gender, but rather embraces all those persons that are feeling overwhelmed by the large range of ecological options and products available or are lost, and they don't know where to begin, ending up neglecting the idea of turning green. Our solution, 4all, will act as a proper guide and a key element to those users who are underserved, and will provide the target population with important tools and information with respect to sustainability, conservation and restoration, so they can properly make a positive ecological impact.
It goes without saying that in order to be a decisive and helpful platform for its users, we first did research with potential users. Firstly, once we had already established our idea, we wanted to validate our target user. We then sent our carbon footprint calculator to a wide range of persons; from professionals in the ecological product area to biology/chemistry teachers. Those “early adopters” gave us feedback about our calculator and the sustainable habits we proposed.
Meanwhile, we participated actively in sustainable related organizations, to gain a better perspective as to what were the key obstacles of the cause and expand our knowledge. For instance, we participated in zero waste forums, we worked with Global Alliance of Leading Edge Schools for Sustainability (GALESS), and we also took part in a six-month program called garbage monsters, among others, that seek to raise ecological awareness. Terms such as greenwashing or green technologies were unknown to us, but thanks to our desire to learn, we acquired expertise in this field and when we launch 4all we believe that this fact will help us differentiate ourselves from the competition.
We have yet begun to design an APP, as we wanted to validate our carbon footprint calculator and immerse ourselves in the cause first. Furthermore, the construction of the APP is somewhat difficult for us, as we lack software knowledge. Hence, we are currently engaging with informatics and biotechnologists to learn how to properly build an APP and develop the solution.
- Taking action to combat climate change and its impacts (Sustainability)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
As we mentioned before, our idea is not on the market, and therefore it is not completed. This does not mean, however, that we haven’t taken any more steps. We have evaluated and tested parts of our idea with target users (like, for example, the carbon footprint calculator) and all the feedback we received has helped us improve our prototype. This is our current stage, as we have yet to deploy our APP in a community.
- A new project or business that relies on technology to be successful
For the carbon footprint calculator to give precise and accurate results and not be a long and tedious test, it relies on the Internet of Things. When measuring the user's carbon footprint, there are some questions regarding smart devices (fridge, dishwasher…) that thanks to the IoT, and the network of Internet-connected physical devices that comprises IoT, it is easier to determine the energy consumption and how sustainable efficient is the user’s home and his devices. In order to offset the user’s carbon footprint, many of the ecological tips/habits 4all propose are linked with the IoT, as many experts have reported that the reduction of carbon emissions is linked with an increase in the energy efficiencies with the use of IoT. For instance, 4all could recommend to the user the use of IoT-enabled smart lighting sensors that will make lighting smarter.
Software is another key technology for our solution, and it is always present. Software development can improve our users' experiences through data analysis, and also store digital information online, saving space and protecting the data from outsiders. In the near future, when the solution develops, the pool of data will gain volume, and storing this data efficiently will become a point of focus for us. Moreover, as a green initiative, 4all seeks to make software an integral part of our sustainability mindset, reducing its energy efficiency. From green software to a green cloud, we want 4all to be an eco-friendly carbon-neutral solution as a consequence of green technology.

We have not yet launched our solution, but we are building a social media presence so that when it launches it will have proper support. Even though we don’t have a large following base (300 people in total) most of them are from our city, Barcelona, and we will start testing and deploying the product in this urban city to see how the target population reacts. As we are very active in sustainable forums and ecological events in Barcelona, and thanks to our social media presence and contacts, in a year we expect to satisfy from 3.000 to 5.000 users. Those users, many of whom are green entrepreneurs, zero waste activists or green micro-influencers, if they are pleased with the solution we hope that they will recommend it and from here we may grow our user base. Furthermore, our solution will not launch in the following months, as we are not near to finishing up building the APP. This means that when the solution jumps into the market, we may have grown our following base and the number of users we expect may be bigger.
4all is about more than just personal carbon offsets. Our mission is to turn climate neutrality into a mass movement and unleash the power of individual action at scale. Climate change is the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced, and we are the last generation able to fix it. We have always been extremely motivated by this cause, but we felt powerless, without a voice. This is why we want to launch 4all, to make an impact and empower millions to act as one united force for the planet, and to give voice to those young adolescents that feel speechless, just like we did.
All our work is orientated into helping people become carbon neutral, and help them spread our mission and raise awareness. We want to change their lives, and together, we can transform individual action into collective impact and make a measurable difference against the climate crisis.
Alas, our impact goals, summarized, are the following:
Minimize releases of air contaminants to the environment
- Create a green APP that plays a decisive role in the ecological transformation of the population
Educate users and provide them with tools that help them start a movement
Safeguarding the environment for future generations
As we are not yet measuring progress, the indicators we want to use when the initiative launches are the monthly reduction of the user's carbon footprint and how many ecological habits have they achieved. Drawing from the UN SDG, there are three goals that align with our solution:
Climate Action
To limit warming to 1.5C, CO2 emissions must drop by 45% and reach net zero around 2050. We need many tools to reach that goal, and while governments do the best they can, 4ALL wants to contribute to this transition and act as a support tool to people around the globe, promoting healthy and sustainable habits.
2. Good Health and Well-Being
Every 2 seconds someone aged 30 to 70 years dies prematurely from diseases linked to air pollution - cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer. Plus, more than 1.6 billion people live in fragile polluted settings where protracted crises present a significant challenge to global health. 4ALL seeks to strengthen global health, with its habits focused in improving the user's well-being and reducing air pollution.
3. Sustainable cities and communities
In 2018, 4.2 billion peopleb lived in cities. By 2050, the urban population is expected to reach 6.5 billion. Cities occupy just 3 percent of the Earth’s land but account for 60 to 80 percent of energy consumption and 70 percent of carbon emissions. With 4ALL and his network of sustainable establishments, the solution targets urban users to reduce metropolitan carbon emissions and create sustainable communities.
Our solution, 4ALL, is not easy to develop. In order to build the APP, we lack technical expertise and knowledge. We tried using APP-building programs, but escaped from our green mission and didn't allow us to create a simple but direct platform.
As problematic as the aforementioned barrier, cultural and geographical significance is also something that can paralyze or slow down our development. Many countries don't have enough tools, so their citizens can make carbon neutral transformations. For instance, some lack internet connection and our solution is purely technological, and others have strict Internet censorship and surveillance that acts as another obstacle.
Finally, for the APP to be successful and make an impact, financial funding is necessary. Our solution is quite ambitious and needs money to develop the software and implement AI and IoT to our carbon footprint calculator. Also, financial support is fundamental to arrive to high-polluted countries and to promote our initiative.
We are a team of mission-driven changemakers, united by one goal: contribute in the fight against global warming. We share a passion for building useful tools that enable action. It all started when, with a burning desire to make an impact, we participated in AudiCreativityChalenge, a program that encourages entrepreneurship. With each week attending two seminars that pursued digital skills and the understatement of the SDG, we then designed a solution for a social problem. This experience served as the seed that helped us flourish our entrepreneurial mindset, and from now on our team has never been more united.
Thanks to this program, not only did our sustainable attitude trigger, but we also participated in many diverse projects that rewarded us with expertise in many fields. Maybe most importantly, our involvement in sustainable related organizations (Fridays For Future, GALESS, garbage monsters…) allow us to expand our ecological knowledge and help us understand the experiences of those our solution serves and how we can please the community.
Moreover, our team is very polyvalent, as we are allured by many different related topics. Going no further, our Team Leader, Guillem, is very keen into biotechnology. Every aspect of what a biotechnologist does draws his attention, and the thought of improving people's lives enthusiast him. Oriol, on the other hand, is very active in many charities and plans fundraising events, having a key management role.
To sum up, our team is perfectly suited for this challenge, as we feel that our experience both on the ecological field and other avant-garde fields such as biotechnology, computational physics and business, not only provided us with lots of skills that are key to launch a powerful and impactful solution, but also gave us the confidence we needed, showing our commitment to something we love.
To reach the goals mentioned above, and to help enrich our solution, we have always seeks partnerships to:
Share technology to accelerate exponentially and sustainably our solution.
Mentors that provide an objective view of the state of the initiative and help to identify key actions and opportunities to improve the company's results.
Be involved in the development of the APP.
Build connections to investors to progress with the idea.
At the moment, excluding individuals like teachers or experts in some particular field, we have partnered with “Turning Tables” and ESADE, separately, to help us navigate and enlighten us about the next steps. Unfortunately, these arrangements ended in the summer of 2021.

A global threat that society is currently facing is air pollution, with an estimated 1 in 5 deaths (18 to 21.5%) every year attributed to air pollution, (source: UCL). In order to stop it, we need to educate everybody with healthy and sustainable content; from how to neutralize someone’s carbon footprint to the sources that contribute most to air impurity. Therefore, we will not only improve the population quality of life, but we will boost women and girls quality of life. Why? Because air pollution is the fourth leading risk factor for deaths among females, and women who are chronically exposed to particulate air pollution are more likely to have babies born too small or too early.
That’s why we’ve not only created the most educational and empowering solution for carbon-neutral living, but also one that has a direct impact on women from every country no matter their background, giving them a voice to speak up as the most discriminated group in the fight against global warming.
