Trans-Heal

Trans-Heal, the first-ever online application that allows transgenders to discuss their mental and physical health problems with health experts at a single platform for quality treatment without any hesitation.  

Trans-Heal allows transgenders to get answers to all queries related to personal health. Trans-Heal is based on computer programming algorithms to develop various health departments within the application. These departments are handled by health specialists worldwide for the treatment of transgenders because transgenders feel difficulty going to the hospital to discuss their health-related issues with doctors as they are known in many South Asian circles as Khawaja Sara and Hijra. Even they couldn't understand to whom should they consult for their health problems either to a male or a female doctor? But trans-Heal provides health services to transgenders globally and allows them to book an appointment with a health specialist near their area and assists them to interact with each other to develop a network that will be helpful for their personal and professional development. Trans-Heal provides 24-hour emergency services for quality treatment. Trans-Heal also includes a department of psychology for the counseling of transgenders who are suffering from anxiety and depression. Everyone in the world talks about gender equality but no one focus on transgender equality.

In May 2018, the Pakistani Parliament passed the Transgender Persons Act. This Act gave transgender persons a right to get themselves registered according to their self-perceived gender identity with all government departments but no one focused on the health department. According to previous studies conducted in Pakistan, the major health problems of transgender are hormonal disorders, complications resulting from castration, diabetes, hypertension, hepatitis C, genital tract ulcers, anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues. About 70% of transgenders receive poor quality health care services in Pakistan. They are facing non-acceptance and feeling ashamed due to major barriers in getting desired health care at hospitals.  Therefore, Trans-Heal provides them a single platform where they can get desired health care services and discuss their health issues with health experts worldwide for better treatment without feeling ashamed. Trans-Heal, the first-ever online application carried out in Pakistan regarding the healthcare needs of the transgender community because of the major widespread ignorance, lack of awareness, discrimination, and insensitivity attitude of the healthcare providers towards the trans-community while making them deprived of their basic right to access to healthcare facilities. Trans-Heal allows the transgender community to solve their health-related problems on their own with the guidance of health experts worldwide. Trans-Heal also made them feel free to discuss their health issues without any social barriers. It also provides them awareness regarding personal health care with the help of virtual counseling sessions that will help them to live a normal life. 

According to the survey report, transgender people lack legal security that often pushes them to the edge of society. Due to the routinely denied rights, transgender people often face discrimination, stigma, and abuse leading to marginalization. The report depicts that lack of gender recognition further damages their mental and physical health. As a result of this social and legal context, over 60 percent of transgender people have high rates of depression and anxiety globally. Therefore to address this problem, Trans-Heal is the need of the current world to save the lives of transgender people because they are also an important part of society as men and women. Trans-Heal is an online application that allows transgender people to discuss their health-related problems including mental and physical with experts globally. They will also be able to develop awareness regarding personal health care. Trans-Heal provides them the confidence to live a normal life and get the best treatment as other humans. No one focuses on their health problems as they are mistreated in several government hospitals and also face a lack of health facilities that lead them towards depression. Due to the misbehavior of paramedics, most transgender people commit suicide in Asian countries including Pakistan.  So, it is the most important social issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible for the sake of humanity.

I have conducted an online survey globally. More than 80 countries have participated in this survey. According to the survey report, the majority of individuals are unsatisfied with the health policies of their government related to transgenders.  

Figure 1. According to the survey report, about 72% of people depicted that primary health care facilities are not provided to the transgenders in their state and 28% of individuals are satisfied with the health care facilities for transgender people.

About 25% of individuals considered that might health care providers feel uncomfortable with such types of patients. And 8.3 % of individuals blamed their office policies related to transgender's health. Moreover, 12.5 % of people do not consider a good environment of their hospitals or offices related to transgender health care.

The prototype is an experimental process where ideas are implemented into tangible forms from paper to digital. 

Trans-Heal is a need of the digital world, especially for transgenders. Trans-Heal provides them with good mental and physical health care facilities through a single platform.  Trans-Heal is an online application that will be easily accessible to transgenders around the world. This digital application is based on computer programming algorithms. These algorithms will be divided further into specific mental and physical health departments that will be handled by health experts. Therefore, this prototype is easy to implement worldwide with the help of computer experts.

Trans-Heal is a novel digital application that will be based on computer programming algorithms or Softwares that made the application easily accessible to transgenders worldwide. This application will be implemented as a mobile application and online web application. Trans-Heal provides 24-hour emergency services that will notify the health experts near their area through notification received to the experts through the mobile application. It also provides them virtual counseling sessions on the online web application without any charges and traveling. Trans-Heal in fact provides a single interaction platform to all transgenders worldwide. The main purpose of the Trans-Heal is to provide health care facilities to transgenders and made them feel like other human beings in the world. As' "No religion is greater than humanity". Therefore, it is the responsibility of all individuals to stand for transgenders right on one page.

Trans-Heal is a novel technology therefore, it is not implemented yet in the world due to the lack of financial resources. But it is a prototype that will be implemented soon for the betterment of the transgender's health with given resources and time. About 70% of transgenders are unable to get personal health care facilities in their states. Therefore, my main target is to serve at least 70% of transgender individuals globally in 2023 with the Trans-Heal.

The trans-Heal platform provides personal health care facilities to transgenders. According to the survey, transgenders are facing multiple problems for their mental and physical health in hospitals. According to previous research studies, the suicide attempt rate among transgender persons ranges from 32% to 50% across the countries due to depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore, Trans-Heal provides them a platform where they can discuss their mental and physical health-related issues with confidence to the health experts globally. Trans-Heal also provides them multiple virtual counseling sessions related to mental health and helps them to get rid of depression and anxiety.

• Trans-Heal allows transgenders to take quality treatment for their mental and physical health at home.
• Trans-heal will provide a single platform to transgenders worldwide where they can interact with each other for their professional growth.
• Trans-heal will encourage transgenders towards the digital platform of health care 
• Trans-Heal provides them virtual counseling sessions for their mental growth in order to make them a part of society without discrimination.

The trans-Heal application will be easily accessible and easy to use for all transgenders globally. This plan can be achieved through funding and the support of health experts globally by developing digital online applications.

I have measured my solution progress through a literature search, transgender rights organizations, and a survey report that has been conducted over 82 countries. With the help of literature, I am able to identify that no global organization and local government is currently working on transgender's mental and physical health in most of the countries. Here is the proposed methodology that will include in my digital application. This methodology well highlights the progress of my solution. 

My initial hurdles are financial barriers, as I am living in a developing country. Here I have a lack of resources and financial constraints to implement this technology worldwide. Trans-Heal is the need of real-world to save the lives of transgenders all over the world. Therefore, it is important to implement this digital application in the entire world.

As a Bioinformatician, I have excellent technical and in-silico health research skills. I have worked on multiple novel tools for the development of Computer-Aided Drug Design and vaccines. Currently, I am the only person who worked on this solution because I have all the technical skills that are required for this solution but in the future, I have to work with the technical team. I would like to work with data scientists and software engineers in order to develop mobile and web-based applications with new designs and features that will be easily operated by transgender individuals. when it comes to the design and implementation then, I and my future team will hire health experts as a volunteer for mental and physical health care departments for Trans-Heal. We will also incorporate with the transgender's global organizations in order to implement our idea as soon as possible. We will also provide them awareness and training regarding the use of Trans-Heal through social media drive as a volunteer.

The HP Girls Save the World Prize is calling teen girls from around the world to share how they would solve a local environmental problem in their community. This will also be helpful for my solution to provide awareness to the world regarding the importance of the mental and physical health of the transgender community through online seminars, workshops, and social media drives.

As I am a girl and bioinformatician as well, therefore, I know the importance of the quality of health, education, and lifestyle of girls and women around the world. It will also be helpful for my solution because my main aim is to provide a quality of life to transgenders globally.
