EyeCare is a mobile application that provides assistance to visually impaired and blind individuals across the world.

The solution is  EyeCare is a mobile application offering fun, easy-to-use and patent-pending vision screening with unlimited eye exercises and various ways to improve to their. eyesight.Take care of your eyes by personalizing the app to receive reminders.User can enjoy the free healthy recipes that will help improve your eyesight and live a healthy lifestyle.Users can donate to various charity organizations for vision impairment and blindness.Users that need eye surgery and cannot afford to pay for it can also get donations from the app in order  to get their eye surgery.

Vision impairment

On a Global Scale,According to the WHO  at least 2.2 billion people have a near or distance vision impairment. In at least 1 billion – or almost half – of these cases, vision impairment could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed.The leading causes of vision impairment and blindness are uncorrected refractive errors and cataracts.The majority of people with vision impairment and blindness are over the age of 50 years; however, vision loss can affect people of all ages.Young children with early onset severe vision impairment can experience delayed motor,emotional, social and cognitive development, with lifelong consequences. School-age children with vision impairment can also experience lower levels of educational achievement.Adults with vision impairment often have lower rates of workforce participation and productivity and higher rates of depression and anxiety. In the case of older adults, vision impairment can contribute to social isolation, difficulty walking, a higher risk of falls and fractures, and a greater likelihood of early entry into nursing or care homes.

An estimated 45 million people around the world areblind.Most of them have lost their sight to diseases that are treatable or preventable.So our target market is every blind and visually impaired individuals across the world. EyeCare help blind user to navigate their way through the app by using the voice assistance feature and also provides eye exercises, vision screen test and Cooking recipes but the most important feature of our app which will have the greatest impact on its user is ability to access sponsorships and help from other eye health organizations users who need surgery for there eyes can put up a donation account in order to get the help that they need. Not only does EyeCare serve blind and visually impaired individuals but also people with visually impairment as well because in this world of technology people eyes are always fix on screens either a mobile phone,laptop or television which is causing a lot of damage and the fact remain that we cannot using them nor reducing the time we use them so EyeCare came with an alternative where you can use the screen and still safe your eyes from problem by putting a light stabilizer or blue screen  on the app which help to adjust or reduce the light system on the phone which by the way is different from the screen brightness on the phone.

 To understand the needs of our consumers we’ve made a survey.  We conducted surveys on Google forms, which were answered by about 3746 people globally.Based on the results that we told we had to make adjustments to our design and at some point we even had to change a whole feature on the design. These are some of the results from the survey:

EyeCare is a prototype because it is still on its development stage although a prototype application was created on MIT app inventor with all the basic or main features of the app and  the app was also tested and is still being improved and then we will move the building the actual app on more complex programming languages like kotin and android studios.

EyeCare is a digital software (an application) where user can gain access to the kind of help they are looking for but the target people are the visually impaired and blind the app process features like text to speech which help users that are blind to be able to use the app effectively just as the people that are not blind which is one of the most important features of the app.

The solution has not yet been launched. EyeCare is a mobile application so our target is everyone in the world with access to internet can download and use EyeCare. After launching the app we will still continue to be in contact with our potential user by reading the reviews constantly and improving the app and also adding new features to it.

• By next year we plant to have launched EyeCare on both apple store and play store so that all users may have access to it.Also making sure that all the features in the app are fully functional.
• We also plan on having a meeting with the ministry of health and also all the other organizations for vision impairment and blindness in The Gambia.
• Having partnerships with all the organizations that deal with vision impairment in order to have a larger impact in other life because when we come together to solve a problem we are stronger and even better
• Organizing programs and workshops by creating a bond and connection with communities and also motivating others to have the passion of helping others in society.
• Building a company for EyeCare and having other branches in other countries as well.

I first of all write down all the things that I need to achieve throughout that week on my check book and put it on my refrigerator that way when ever I wake up the first I see are the things that I have written and I would also take a picture of it and make it my wallpaper that way even when I’m not at home I would still remember the things that I need to get done for that day in order to achieve my goal for that week which is a really good method of making progress in what ever you’re doing.

Acquiring funding for the app is a major concern because we will need developers to handle different aspects of development (backend vs. frontend, web vs. Android vs. iOS, etc.). We will also hire a minimum number of employees to handle marketing, support and communications. Who must be payed in order for the app to work 

Getting access to internet is also a problem because getting WiFi is very expensive and without access to internet there will be no development of the app 

Getting the app legalized or officially registered is also going to require revenue which we do not have 

And also getting a decent place with computers or laptops to work with.

The app needs to be developed and launched before we can approach the government for support 

Programming: The programming team will create the app. They have already built a prototype in app inventor, which means that the app is only available to android users. One of the team’s goal is to make EyeCare IOS compatible so that more people can benefit from the services we provide.

Design: The design team designed the app based on the topic, our customers, the national and global market, our goals, mission and the features we wanted to include. They made sure that it was pleasing to the eye and easy to use at the same time. The team is currently working on the design of the features that will be added in the future.

Marketing and Sales: The marketing team has evaluated the market size and identified the needs of Gambian market. Since the beginning they have researched and conducted surveys in order to ensure that EyeCare provides every feature that is useful to the people who are affected by vision impairment and blindness.
