ICT DEVELOPMENT CENTRE
ICT Development Centre would stand in the gap of training young school children and school leavers in Lueku community of Ogoni, Rivers State.
ICT Development Centre is a program that is intending to impact the lives of young school children and school leavers in Lueku community of Ogoni, Rivers State. By bequeathing on them necessary 21st century ICT skills.
ICT Development Centre shall enroll and train young school children and school leavers to be fully endowed with computer knowledge and other information communication and technology (ICT) skills, with the use of computer systems and relevant ICT gadgets.
ICT Development will solve the problem of computer illiteracy among school children and young school leavers in lueku community. This is because the community is remote and does not have any such facilities both in their local schools and within the environment, thereby denying school children access to computer knowledge. This said problem affects all young school children and young school leavers who reside in Lueku community. The consequence resulting from the problem is massive failure in computer-based tests ( CBT) during National Examination, such as Jamb, Waec, etc.
the solution served young school children and school leavers in Lueku community who could not have access to computer training by giving them equitable access to ICT skills like their counterpart who are leaving and schooling in the morderm Communities.
ICT Development centre shall put in place a computer study laboratory hub that shall be used to train young school children and school leaver to be computer literates, and as well, get them readily prepared for CBT examination and also to improve their social living condition.
The first step was trying to understand the needs of the target population through volunteer visits to schools in rural communities. The aim was to ascertain their core needs and while the massive failure in the national examinations, the above step proved that there is no computer training center both in their rural school and the Community where necessary computer training skills could be acquired. The second step was adopted in 2019 were a mini computer training hub was established with just a computer system though this could not be sustained due to large turn- out by young school children and school leaver in the community who are in desperate needs of the skills, and inadequate fund to procure more equipments.
- Improving learning opportunities and outcomes for learners across their lifetimes, from early childhood on (Learning)
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community
ICT Development centre, had been tested in 2019 and attracted so much focus and massive turnout by over 40 school children who were beneficiaries in Lueku Community of Ogoni. Though, the program paused based on financial constraints.
- A new project or business that relies on technology to be successful
ICT Development centre, works on the use of computer systems (laptops or desktops ) and their relevant applications. The use of technology like digital projector, printers etc, to function.
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
- Nigeria
The said solution is not running currently as outlined above due to inadequate equipments and lack of financial aid. However,ICT Development centre has plans of serving 90 young school children and school leaver in next year
To train 90 young school children and school leavers, on how to competently use a computer system and carry out software installation, data computation and analysis,apps/ website development etc, this shall be done in three(3) training quarters.
A quarter of the training shall last for three (3) months, Each quarter shall train 30 beneficiaries.
We shall measure our impact goal by our monthly and quarterly assessment to determine if the Target beneficiaries knowledge have improved, and the use of survey, questionaire to ascertain the level at which ICT Development centre has impacted the young school children and school leavers in Lueku community to ensure that they are all capable of using computer system with ease.
The barriers that currently exit for ICT Development centre to strive in next year still remains lack of fund to help acquire functional computer systems and other relevant equipments for operation.
