Meditel
A device which reminds individuals to take their medication at the appropriate time. The six alarm timings can be customized to an individuals requirement.

Meditel is simply a reminder to take your medications. Set an alarm on Meditel for a particular time and it will remind you when it’s time to take your pills. It is an alarm system attached to a bottle of water with a pill holder at the side. Meditel has a provision for a maximum of six alarms to be set throughout the whole day
Meditel is currently a prototype. It uses an Arduino Nano as it’s brain. Meditel has been through many stages from a basic idea to a bulky prototype.
People suffer from multiple health issues nowadays such as diabetes, cholesterol, thyroid, etc and may have to take many pills every single day. Sometimes we may forget to take our pills which is harmful and in many cases even deadly. Most of the world takes atleast 1 pill everyday. Studies have shown that over 50% of people miss taking their pills atleast once every month and that 75% of people do not take their medicines properly. Meditel is a huge help in such scenarios.
Meditel targets everyone who takes MULTIPLE pills a day. It’s not only useful for senior citizens that live along or middle aged people but also for frequent travelers, forgetful individuals and also people with busy schedules.
Most people nowadays take tablets, pills and medications. Sometimes due to being preoccupied or simply being forgetful we may forget to take our medication. Repeating this a few times can be extremely harmful and sometimes even deadly.
Meditel is the solution to this problem. It consists of an alarm, a pill holder and a bottle. It is basically a reminder to take medications.
When it’s time to take your medication, the buzzer on Meditel rings and alerts you to take your pills. It’s easy, simple to use and takes 3 minutes to set up.
My grandparents suffer from multiple health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, etc and take many tablets per day. I observed that due to forgetfulness they often do not take their medicines. Many senior citizens and even people in their 30’s and 40’s even often do not take their pills due to being busy and occupied. Many such people have given me ideas to improve Meditel and take it to the next level.
- Improving healthcare access and health outcomes; and reducing and ultimately eliminating health disparities (Health)
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model
Till date I have built 3 prototypes of meditel. They range from all the components on a flat board to a proper enclosed case attached to the bottle.
- A new use of an existing technology (e.g. application to a new problem or in a new location)
Meditel relies on the Arduino circuit board that is present in it. Meditel was programmed using Arduino IDE. Meditel uses very simple components such as a regular buzzer, leds, a 9v battery, etc.

Meditel doesn’t serve any people currently. By next year I want to have made a completely working model that is waterproof (so you can wash the bottle) and durable. I also want to rid it of a few bugs I’m facing while programming it.
Goals for 2022:
1. Make a fully working model that is cost effective, water proof and durable
2. Let some senior citizens use it in their lives and observe the outcome.
3. Exhibit Meditel in front of a crowd and receive feedback.
At the moment I am being affected by technical barriers as I can’t figure out how a certain part of Meditel should work.
I am well versed with Arduino IDE and technology in general
I am not working with any organizations.
