LXUC: Eco solutions

My solution is to reduce pollution by developing ecofriendly products for everyday use and providing access to environmental education for people with limited resources or living in rural communities. 

It's a 3-phase plan, The first one consists in reducing plastic pollution, for this I´ve created a bioplastic with fruit peel which is focused on reducing the deficiencies of current bioplastics.The second seeks to combat misinformation about environmental issues and bring people closer to a more sustainable lifestyle, for this I have created social media accounts where I post information, tips and so on, related to ecology and sustainability (I also plan to provide enviromental education for anyone and anywhere this way everyone will be able to take action. But for now everything is online because of the pandemic) and I also give lectures about ecology in my community (rural community) and other cities.The third and last one consists in collecting garbage and I use the inorganic garbage that people bring me or I collect to create eco-bricks to build low-cost houses and furniture for poor people and the ones who have a low income and limited resources.

The problem I´m trying to solve is pollution and the lack of environmental education, I can say that this is a global issue since we all are exposed to pollution of air, water and / or soil the consequences this problem generates are: heart disease, lung cancer, and respiratory diseases (air pollution). Diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery, thyphoid and poliomyelitis (water pollution) headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin rash, eye irritation.  (All of them also affect the crops). The fact that people don't know enough or didn't receive a good environmental education stops them of taking action towards solving this problem. 

The United Nations estimates that around 7 million deaths in the world are due to pollution.

I live in a rural community so I obviuosly know about the situation in this kind of communities but i also live in the city so I understand environmetal issues from 2 different personal perspectives, I've also partcipated in volunteering related to ecology and attended to some national and international conferences,  and workshops to learn about how I can help people and the planet towards environmental issues, I also won some international and national competitions related to ecology, so I had the opportunity to investigate more deeply and develop further my project ensuring that my solution is focused on everyone, trying to close the gap of social backwardness

I selected pilot because I already created a bioplastic and an action plan, now I'm testing it in my community (San Matías, Ensenada, BC) which is rural and there are approximately 200 inhabitants and testing it 50, but im also testing my project online to see what works or not and what I have to improve (what I do is basically providing free enviromentall education online, because of the pandemic ) so everyone, at anytime and anywhere can access to it. and i'm gonna start building things with ecobricks (sofas, dog houses, etc.) so people can test them and see if they like them or not.

I'ts a  new application of an existing technology since this uses any fruit peel but it´s not only a bioplastic its also a complete organization that aims to raise awareness towards to a sustinable future, from a different perspective, we've seen that current campaings aren´t working everything is bassically the same, most of people don´t care about the environment so my organization will do it from a fifferent perspective. If we want people to change we have to cange our methods, giving the example to generate a ripple effect

It serves approximately 85 people with the service of raising awareness and to test the bioplastic, i plan to serve next year around 1000 people and I want to involve people from rural communities since they don´t have accesss to resources like this, in social media I plan to serve even more since it´s easier to reach more prople.
