Floods are our most expensive natural disaster. Whether associated with storm surge or heavy rainfall, flooding can cause widespread damage to public and private property. Sea level rise is making this problem worse by exposing more areas to tidal flooding, bringing storm surges farther inland, and elevating groundwater levels.
Coastal Risk is a geospatial data and analytics startup which operates at the intersection of real estate, insurance, finance, and climate providing advanced analytics and services to assess flood risks. We have developed a cloud-based technology which gives people around the world easy access to flood reports for their specific property, decades into the future.
As our climate changes, awareness of the need for climate risk assessment and adaptation continues to gain momentum. With each storm and each summer of record temperatures, our nation and the world become more aware of the cost of flooding and impacts of extreme heat and other climate risks. Coastal Risk offers accurate and affordable reports which help homeowners, businesses, and communities know their risks, so they can prepare for the worst.
Coastal Risk has provided many homeowners and businesses across the nation with quick, affordable and easy to read reports containing the most accurate flood and climate risk data, giving them the tools to protect their assets and investments. We have leveraged our innovative technology to perform vulnerability studies for local governments, such as: the City of Miami Beach, Miami Shores Village and the Village of Key Biscayne, at a fraction of the cost normally charged by large Architectural/Engineering firms. Using our advanced cloud-based modeling techniques, we analyzed each of these communities block-by-block and street-by-street, and developed plans and recommendations to ensure the safety and longer term resiliency of the community’s infrastructure and way of life.
Coastal Risk provides comprehensive information about flood risk in a user-friendly format, quickly and affordably. This accessibility of information will transform how governments, private companies and individuals make decisions about how to invest in real estate and infrastructure, and how to protect those investments.
