Knowledgehook Mexico
Global educational organizations like the OECD have released reports to guide education leaders when responding to the disruption of learning caused by COVID-19. But, how can we improve equity of outcomes in math for all learners as they return to a blend of classroom and online learning?
Knowledgehook has empowered over 900 thousand teachers and parents to collaboratively support the mathematics learning journey of millions of students in english-speaking countries. This platform analyzes student understanding through engaging assessments, providing real-time personalized solutions to close learning gaps between classroom teaching and at-home learning. Designed by leading numeracy and research experts, Knowledgehook’s Instructional Guidance System is reinventing how online technology supports education and educators while inspiring the problem solvers of tomorrow.
Knowledgehook is now entering the Mexican market thanks to the partnership between Radix Education and Knowledgehook. Our goal for 2022 is to extend this learning opportunity to more educators in LATAM.
The Latin American and the Caribbean region suffers many painful problems producing social, financial and cultural drawbacks. 570 million people live in the LAC region in poverty conditions; the accumulated poor governmental policies are illustrated by the low investment in education, development, science, technology and innovation.
According to the US National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Council of Mathematics Supervisors, during the pandemic, the urgency to change the way mathematics is taught has become apparent. According to both agencies, math instruction needs to be more equitable.
One of the biggest challenges facing educators is to find better ways to meet the learning needs of the many students who fall behind in schools, failing to meet year-level expectations (often year after year) and, as a consequence, become increasingly disengaged.
A critical area for improving mathematics education is teaching practices. These refe to educators using educational strategies that focus on formative assessment to know how well they are learning. Knowledgehook is built around the TEACHER, using data from engaging student assessments to unlock expert professional development for teachers and guidance for parents and tutors, while giving boards real-time insights into school performance.
Knowledgehook’s innovative approach is grounded in research showing that improving the quality of math instruction and student experiences leads to more equitable outcomes. Included in improved instruction is a focus on language and manipulatives to support all learners. Knowledgehook also developed PaperMode, a low cost, internet and device free method to formatively assess students and offer real-time next-step personalized instructional guidance.
Knowledgehook, Inc., winner of Google’s Game Changer Award and named Top Disruptor by BNN Bloomberg, is an AI platform designed by leading numeracy and research experts that provides instant analytics, closing learning gaps through classroom teaching and at-home learning.
The Knowledgehook platform facilitates the creation and maintenance of inclusive mathematics communities–in person or virtual–between students and adults to build relationships. These supports build: critical consciousness among educators, an understanding about sharing power with students in co-constructing the mathematics learning community; a more expansive view of mathematics among adults and students; and promote meaningful collaboration, deep mathematical thinking, and exploration among students and adults.
Also, empowers and Strengthens Teacher Practices: Offers new materials, tools, and strategies that empower, support, and expand teachers' knowledge and use of instructional practices that meet individual student needs, and develop mathematical proficiency.
here is overwhelming evidence that supporting teacher development leads to more equitable math outcomes for students. In this partnership, the Knowledgehook platform will increase access to standards-based learning opportunities that build mathematical discourse and are based on real-time data that guides personalized intervention through: (a) accessible materials that deliver rigorous mathematics activities in both traditional classrooms and remote learning environments; (b) just-in-time professional development that builds teacher capacity and is based on students’ immediate learning needs; (c) offline features that make it possible for teacher-student interactions when no internet-enabled devices are available in the classroom or at home by integrating Knowledgehook’s existing Paper-Mode QR technology; (d) removing language barriers in learning math by developing language-free visual math manipulatives aligned with key concepts in Algebra 1, and (e) leveraging unique interactive visualizations to provide low-floor entry points so all students have immediate access to grade level content.
In helping Latinamerican learners, the Knowledgehook platform will help all students. The partnership will feature inquiry- based learning with highly visual prompts to benefit any student who is beginning to form mathematical language skills regardless of their background or native language. This approach pushes students to use their own language to construct mathematical thinking before formalizing these structures into Spanish. Visual manipulatives for Algebra I will provide language-free ways of communicating about math. In addition, the Knowledgehook platform gives teachers direct access to content aligned to their jurisdiction’s curriculum and is available in English, French and Spanish.
This solution will investigate supporting Latinamerican learners to use their developing understanding of math concepts, to create math symbols, build an enriched math vocabulary, and to develop their language of mathematics. Consistent with targeted universalism, what is good for these students will benefit all students.
- Support teachers and educational institutions with teaching and learning methodologies, tools, and resources that help develop future skills for students
The COVID-19 pandemic has heightened a need for digital solutions that focus on building teacher capacity to deliver high-quality math instruction both in and out of classrooms. Math leaders will leverage their reach to give a voice to Latin-American learners, teachers, leaders, and others who are impacted by COVID. The low cost, internet-based solution will allow for differentiated collaboration among students, teachers, and families. Interactive learning activities will assist families who may be teaching their children at home to become successful teachers in their new roles. As designed, the Knowledgehook platform will moderate the impact of COVID-19 on priority populations.
- Scale: A sustainable enterprise working in several communities or countries that is looking to scale significantly, focusing on increased efficiency.
Knowledgehook is currently in use in English speaking countries and is entering the Mexican market thanks to the partnership with Radix Education. We have successfully translated the platform, aligned the curriculum and contextualized the materials to the spanish speaking learners and educations and we are ready to scale the Knowledgehook platform into other Latin American countries by 2022.
