CAKAP Upskill
We aim to solve 3 problems:
- Less time for workers, especially blue collars or low-level employees, to upskill due to work, family and more pressing matters
- Low engagement of one-way, video based online learning only
- A wide range of MOOC provider not in local language and relevant cultural context
The solution will attempt to solve the problems through:
- Learning contents that are relevant to upskill for the future of work; in local language and culturally-relatable; and recognized nationally and internationally
- Combination of MOOC (self-paced) and two-ways learning interaction to maximize personalization and engagement
- Learning dashboard (LMS) for students or employers to track growth and performance.
- Equip existing workers in India and Indonesia with country-appropriate and culturally-relevant digital literacy skills and vocational training opportunities
- My solution is being deployed or has plans to deploy in Indonesia
According a report by McKinsey on automation and future of work, it is estimated that 27 million jobs could be displaced by automation. However at the same period, 27 - 46 million new jobs will be created in which 10 million of those will be a new type of occupations.
Therefore it is increasingly important for workers in Indonesia to be prepared and equipped themselves with 21st century skills including digital literacy.
For employers, current low digital literacy skills in Indonesia and 21st century skills increasingly hampered their ability to grow and expand their workforce.
The available solution in Indonesia however are either onsite training provider, which is hard to scaled and not adapted towards online, or MOOC (massive open online course) platform, which is often not in local language and one-way delivery through videos.
Our solution attempts to combine the good points from both MOOC and two-way learning in order to create a personalized, flexible and engaging learning
Our main target will be the employees of all size of businesses from micro to large enterprises especially those who has low digital literacy skills or whose jobs involves menial and repetitive tasks that can be easily replaced by software and automation.
We mainly approach through B2B angle whereby we approach and partner with enterprises to upskill or reskill their employees.
From employers perspective, our solution is shown to be quite impactful in a way that we help their employees to increase productivity through personalized and targeted training.
From employees perspective, our solution helps them to gain more credibility and promotion via increase productivity as well as more opportunity to move to a more well-paying division or role such as marketing and IT.
Our goal via this solution is to equip workers with 21st century skills including digital literacy in an engaging and personalized learning so they can face the upcoming challenge of automation and requirements of works in the future.
Cakap Upskill attempts to combine the self-paced nature of MOOC with an engaging and personalized one-on-one nature of two-way learning. The solution also provides learning contents in local language and relevant culturally for easy internalization.

In the next year, we aim that we to have 10,000 new users. Most of them will come from 5 big cities in Indonesia.
We intend to scale this product through our own organization's efforts such as sales, partnership and advertising.
The indicators that we measure are revenue, users, growth and impact.
We measure impact by giving survey to our students after the course is completed and 3 months after the course is completed to track whether the course and content has good impact to their work
1. Technology
Internet penetration rate although has becoming widespread to all areas in Indonesia and cheaper is still of low quality thus even though students have access to internet, it stills very slow.
2. Cultural
Indonesia is historically reluctant to spend on education as most still focus on natural resources development rather than improving digital and 21st century skills.
1. Technology
To solve this, we are committed to partnering with telco and institutions to help spread fast data plan along with this initiative. We are also focused on development of product and features such as short video courses and able to download video offline
2. Cultural
To solve this, we work with enterprises and governments to provide trainings. We also work with companies' L&D team to develop contents that is relevant to the work and needed to complete as additional variable for bonus and promotion
