Awesome Wetland Park Construction to Solve Salinization

Take Jinzhou China as an Example

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

According to Chinese Ocean News, the increase of the sea level caused by global warming has done great harm to the coastal city in China. The rising sea level corrode and salinize the coastal land. In China, Liaoning Province is one of the most seriously corroded cities. The sea level rises at a speed of 3.2 millimeter per year. From 2004 to 2006, the sea level of Liaoning Province was always above the average of previous years. The rising sea level deeply harmed the seawater intrusion disaster, and the Jinzhou region in Liaoning province is a typical victim of salinization.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

For our team’s solution, we plan to utilize the salinization area to build a wetland park. We want to reduce the negative effect of the salinization and make people a more livable city. This solution is practical because we already have Hong Kong Wetland Park and Guangzhou Wanqing wetland park under similar circumstances and conditions. We believe that the utilization of the waste land will increase and the environment conditions will improve.

Inside the wetland park, we need commercialization to benefit the government, the society, and the citizens as well. Therefore, we urge some environmentally friendly and commercially beneficial programs. For instance, we project a certain area in the wetland park and sell the seed and seedling of a certain kind of tree which we call it "shui pu tao" in Chinese(Syzygium jambos（L.）Alston). We encourage every visitor who come to the wetland park to buy one and plant it themselves. This tree can grow really fast and it has been proved by other wetland park all across China that how beautiful and appealing it is in the park. Most importantly, it can grow on saline-alkali soil and turn that soil into normal soil. In China's farming markets, this tree is totally affordable for any normal citizens. After several months or a year, this tree would cover some part the park and gradually change the salinization situation. At the same time, citizens get involved and builder of the park get benefit. 

WHY IT MATTERS?

Almost all coastal countries have cities affected by salinization worldwide. In those cities, wetland park construction can effectively solve or eliminate the problem. The city we mentioned, Jinzhou, is just an example. Here goes the ways it works:

• prevention of salt water intrusion---coastal vegetation helps prevent the tide from flowing into the river. 
• water supply---For residents, agriculture and industry.
• recharge groundwater---Water from wetlands to aquifers can become part of the groundwater system and provide water for industrial and agricultural production in surrounding areas.
• remove and transform the poisons and impurities---wetlands help to slow down the speed of water flow, which is advantageous to the precipitation and eliminate toxins and impurities.  

If we make it to build wetland parks in cities affected, we help to solve the salinization problem in coastal cities. In this way, we make the world a better place. 

For salinization problem near coastal region, Our plan——building a wet land park, can not only solve most of the problems in a natural way according to the functions of a wetland park, but also get some economic profits to support the running. We also evoke people’s awareness to let them bodily some innovative projects which all the visitors can bodily improve the environment. For example, visitors are encouraged to plant trees named after them. In this way, visitors would like to carry the responsibility and pay more attention. 

Our plan is to build a wetland park, and in this wetland park, water cycle technology, tree planting technology, and park construction technology.

Obviously, building a wetland park is not an easy job. We need a very experienced team to make this work. Inside the construction team, advanced building technology should be taken. Also, since our plan involves commercial tree planting program, we need transplanting technology as well. Those biological technology need to ensure the newly-growing trees would not interrupt local environment and can actually bring environmental benefit.

Rome wasn't built in a day. And so does a wetland park.

In the following 12 mouths, we are ganna do things as follow in order:

• Get Jinzhou government approved
• Find construction campany to start building the wetland park
• Invite biologist and botanist to investigate the park
• Start the tree transplant program
• Begin operation and invite visitors to come

The conditions of land and environment will gradually improve. Then, the residents’ living conditions will improve as the water will become purer, the plant coverage will become larger and both the quality and quantity of crops become greater. Because of the commercialization of the wetland park, more visitors will be attracted and the economic level of this second-tier city will increase. After 3 to 5 years, the soil conditions may recover to the previous status which is suitable to grow corps again and can raise more people in the world. (Northeastern China produces more than 20% national corps). 

Our plan is to build a wetland park and the access to the park is totally free. So we are targeting at citizens at all ages from infants led by young mothers to senior citizens who want to promenade in the morning and afternoon. Since the park is free of charge and it provides a great place to relax, citizens without doubt would like to enjoy their spare time in the wetland park we build. Meanwhile, our tree planting program also encourage citizens to come.

In 12 months, our wetland park will be under construction, and therefore, our plan would firstly benefit workers who are hired by companies to build the wetland park. At the same time, the economy of the whole city would grow in some amount.

After that, the wetland park is well-constructed and it would benefit all the citizens in that city: the wetland park provides them an extremely good and relaxing place to entertain themselves. We are targeting at citizens at all ages from infants led by young mothers to senior citizens who want to promenade in the morning and afternoon. 

We are scrupulous, strict, and keeping improving. We are trying to improve our solution again and again in order to make it special and comprehensive. And we are creative and innovative. We can come up with some crazy ideas that are completely different from others’. So, these ideas can make our solution unique and attract people to support us. For example, we are going to post our solution on the advertisement to attract people’s eyes. And we are outgoing and sociable. We can let investor know our solution’s uniqueness and advantages and convince them to invest us .

We don’t make this solution for profit initially. In order to build this wetland park, we will cooperate with government. And we encourage every visitor who come to the wetland park to buy a seed of “shui pu tao” and pant it themselves. Later, we have to make it for profit in order to make it sustainable. We can set up some pay-per-use projects such as boating and riding. And we can cooperate with some companies or associations about environment protection to post advertisements or hold some activities to attract more people to come. When we have enough money, we can expand more areas for animal and plant protection, buy diversified plants, and set up more activities to attract more people.
