PONS, Remote Medical Imaging
Medical imaging must be accessible, affordable, and decentralized so that everyone can have access to decent health care.
PONS™ is the AI-based platform for ultrasound, which offers a powerful and intuitive solution to perform medical monitoring outside of the hospital environment.PONS™ is able to autodetect all the structures and tissues in the image, making diagnostics automatically. It enhances the skills of non-medically trained staff through image recognition and offers a tool for efficient, effective management of patients - outside of the hospital or clinic.
PONS will provide the patients access to decent health care anytime and anywhere at an affordable price, this will help millions of people to get proper treatment for critical health conditions.
70% of the population dont have access to decent health care or they can visit the hospital only a few times a year.
Over 40% of the re-admission cases happen because of failure to Follow Hospital Discharge Orders.
Today, we need to democratize and decentralize the medical imaging and monitoring ecosystem in health care. Pre-hospital monitoring should be done anytime, anywhere, instantly, and should be accessible by everyone in order to prevent overcrowding hospitals and save time.
Creating a decentralized medical imaging hub will help the patients to access decent health care anywhere, but also provide an opportunity for the doctor to stay connected with the patients that have critical health conditions like women's health conditions and lung-kidney problems.
The PONS software solution is integrated with mobile ultrasound probes and makes them an intelligent AI system to be used outside the hospital. PONSs AI tool that analyzes the images and helps non-medically trained staff to make the reading and diagnostics of the medical images that are scanned through probes. It is able to auto-detect all the structures and tissues in the image and make reading and diagnostics of this automatically so that system can read any medical images from an ultrasound probe.

The PONS approach will allow smaller clinics, pharmacies, and even homes to have proper imaging technology accessible at lower cost and more flexibility.
By developing partnerships with pharmacies, retail health center, everyone will have a medical diagnostics spot that they can go and connect with their doctor, and by partnering with insurance companies we will be able to create medical imaging pods on every corner, car park, or anywhere in rural areas and connect the field with the healthcare system.
Instead of investing a lot of money in hospitals and expensive systems, PONS will provide a per scan fee that will create a health care system accessible to everyone. Our forecast is to perform 40 million scans per year by the end of 2026.
We are developing an affordable mobile diagnostics technology by utilizing ultrasound technology. The system is meant to be used by doctors who serve in difficult circumstances and geographies like 3rd World countries, villages, immigration centers. Doctors without borders, Red Cross, UN, are some of the target groups that we want to reach and provide a smart and affordable diagnostics tool that can be used to track and monitor internal medicine and pregnancy progress in young women, where expensive and big systems can not be used.
We want to reach out to 1000 doctors that are working in the field. According to the studies of the UN and Accenture 5 Billion people don't have access to smart surgery and diagnostics systems in health care. we will spend over USD 12.3 Trillion by 2030 because of a lack of early diagnostics and surgery systems. We want to reduce that amount by 25%
- Unlock collaboration among patients, scientists, and health care providers to improve patient outcomes
The majority of patients with serious health problems have to be monitored after they become outpatients. This means that they have to travel back to the hospital from home. The inconvenience and costs for the patient are considerable. Today, we are living in an era where every month thousands of patients are traveling abroad for medical treatment, and what about those who cannot afford to travel even in their own countries? What about those who might need immediate diagnosis at home?
Our mission is to bring "affordable, high-quality medical imaging to all corners of the globe."
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model.
As of today, we have been focusing on the research and development phase of PONS. We have over 200 scans and trials. We are now starting to convert the product into a wearable ultrasound version for creating an at-home point of care technology.
We are now developing our strategic partnerships with health care platforms, life insurance carriers, and other MedTech companies so that PONS will become their partner in the pre-hospital diagnostics vertical.
Out forecast is to have the FDA approval by the end of 2022 and to be on the market by 2023.

Ultrasound is the least invasive technology that can be used for medical imaging. The most important fact in health care is to provide a secure connection and protect the data of the patient. In order to optimize that process, we are partnering with AWS and integrating our solution by using their cloud structure. PONS system is also HIPPA compliant.

We are still pre-market, our target is to get FDA approval by 2022 and be on the market by Q4 2022.
Our goal is Instead of investing a lot of money in hospitals and expensive systems, PONS will provide a per scan fee that will create a health care system accessible to everyone. Our forecast is to perform 40 million scans per year by the end of 2026 and reach to 10million people living in a difficult circumstances without access to decent health care.

In order to reach our goals, our strategy is to develop strategic partnerships with Pharmaceutical, Insurance, and large medical technologies companies and leverage their network to access those regions and also to reach key decision-makers and regulators in the health care system.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Ilker Hacihaliloglu is the director of the Computer-Assisted Surgery and Therapy Laboratory (CompAST) at Rutgers University’s multidisciplinary research laboratory focusing on developing image-guided surgical systems. He has over 15 years of experience in computer-aided surgery and early diagnostics systems in the brain, cancer treatment fields.
Soner Hacıhaliloğlu,multi-time startup CEO founded deep-tech companies in different industries and has been working in Siemens Building Technologies for the last 12 years and was responsible for business development and strategy in emerging markets and the EU/MENA/US region.
Our co-founder Asst.Prof.Dr. Ilker Haci has been developing Medtech for over 10 years at Rutgers. His research and development have been focused on integrating deep learning and AI algorithms into mobile ultrasound probes and make them intelligent and to be used outside the hospital as a point of diagnostics and monitoring systems.
Our focus is to build a team that will have a diverse team of leaders and engineers. Right now we are onboarding women scientists to lead our engineering teams.
We are also supporting young generations in low-income communities by training them to become PONS care providers. They will be trained to use the PONS system and will bring health care to elderly people that are living alone and in rural areas. They will have the opportunity to serve their community and also earn their income and support their families.

The main objective of PONS is validation, and deployment of new computational tools, based on deep learning, for processing multi-feature ultrasound data to derive models that yield individual-level accurate risk assessment and critical injuries and disease diagnosis and monitoring.
We want to build The Future Where Intelligent Medical Imaging and Health Meet.
PONS is changing healthcare from noun to verb.
In order to create a bigger effect, we want to be a part of a community that understands the importance of what we do and want to do. That is the reason why we are applying
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development, etc.)
- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Legal or Regulatory Matters
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
We are operating and developing a technology that is in a very highly regulated field.
We would like to have support so that we can build our Advisory/Medical board and help us to go through all the regulatory procedures easily.
Another important fact is to develop a sustainable business model, integrating reimbursement structure, developing strategic partnerships will help us to scale faster and also to reach out to more people.
We would like to partner with MIT faculty in order to develop our system further and get support on growing our mentor's team that is supporting us.
