Greatest MINDS
- United States
I have recently been selected to be a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation for the next academic year. This opportunity will poise me with support of the winning the Elevate Prize to bring my Greatest MINDS projects and programs ( education, voting, entrepreneurship, college to career) to communities of color in the South and to urban cities across the nation.
We want to support and unite our Black communities. The U.S. Black population is also growing. In 2019, 46.8 million people in the U.S. identified their race as Black, either alone or as part of a multiracial or ethnic background. That is up from 36.2 million in 2000.1 The Black share of the U.S. population is higher today than in 2000 as well. About 14% of the national population said they were Black in 2019, up from 13% who did so in 2000. ( Pew pewresearch.org/social-trends/2021/03/25/the-growing-diversity-of-black-america/ )
I also want to help young people realize that Racism, My recent blog addresses the issues of my families legacy or racism going back three generations in the United States. Here is the blog: georgegreenidge.com/post/black-dreams-matter-my-family-s-legacy-with-racism
Greatest MINDS has a vision for the 21st century where skilled, educated Black professionals will take leadership in their communities and careers by supporting high school students on their road to college and beyond. Greatest MINDS is a networking organization of educators, activists, entrepreneurs, young professionals, artists and community members. Our mission and purpose is to provide mentorship and guidance to citizens and first-generation college students seeking to become active and successful contributors to civil society by giving them access to college, career and community networks. We achieve this by promoting intergenerational dialogue through developing programs, forums, initiatives, campaigns and conferences which highlight the issues of race, socio-economic class, and gender identity in urban cities and on college campuses. Through our collaborative process, we work towards solving these social justice issues by developing a more inclusive economy. My goal is to utilize diversity, equity and inclusion, and belonging as a concept to change societal problems with new solutions utilizing technology and community networks. Greatest MINDS has a vision for the 21st century where skilled, educated Black professionals will take leadership in their communities and careers by supporting high school students on their road to college and beyond. Our vision is based on the rich African American traditions of giving, creating community, and striving for education. Our goal is the very health of our urban communities. We want to provide role models as mentors for Black youth: educated, energetic African-Americans who are working to make their communities better places to live. We must create and build an image of a hopeful future for our youth by instilling a strong sense of community and self, encouraging enrollment in college, supporting students to graduate from college, offering ways for college alumni to engage in their communities, and building bridges between Black communities and community institutions. American democracy needs our vision: where every Black youth can be all he or she wants to be; where our growing group of Black professionals will reach back to their urban communities and support a new generation; where self-help and entrepreneurial initiatives created and run by the very people who live in urban communities become the rule not the exception.
Greatest MINDS is a social justice non-profit organization that works with college students and young professionals to become the next generation of civic leaders through mentoring, volunteering and participating.
The Greatest MINDS believes that we all are responsible for building our community. We get involved in their local neighborhoods become active mentors and to be this country's next generation of civic leaders and community activists for social justice. Our program in Atlanta works with a large amount of Black college students ( ie: Georgia State University, Morehouse College, Spelman College and Clark Atlanta), community organizers, and young professionals to prepare people to be leaders especially in the areas of voting rights and education. ) Our program in Boston brings together neighborhood activists with educators to develop new networks for the next generation to participate in educational and job opportunities. What makes our program unique, innovative and disruptive as we utilize our networks of social media and college networks to build an alliance of social justice advocates ready to take action in voting rights, education, and community building in urban cities in the United States.

Our organization Greatest MINDS has tremendous impact by highlighting and showing the next generation they can take on community projects and to get involved and to take risks.
The Greatest MINDS is uniquely qualified to tackle this issue for the organization has the relationships and the networks to get results. I am a Morehouse College graduate and my classmates were Senator Rev. Warnock and Stacey Abrams. I have been taught by the best social justice activists in the country. They taught me to fight for truth and justice and always have time for the next generation to help build their skills. I am their living there legacy with Greatest MINDS bringing the next generation together and working on social justice action campaigns in democracy, voter education and voter rights, and also use all of skills to help eradicate racism and provide resources to create an inclusive economy. I have the network of alumni and college students behind me to elevate communities. www.gminds.org
