Scalable solutions to close the gender gaps in technology
- Pre-Seed
We provide scalable, tangible, tech-backed solutions to close gender gaps in tech. Current D&I offerings have been "shoved" into the non-profit/CSR world, resulting in low-tech, low-scale programs. We're rethinking this issue, and providing clear paths for people - companies, investors, women, founders - to walk the walk.
Problems:
- Diversity "solutions" are largely low-scale, low-tech and therefore low-impact (we have specific testimonies from multiple recruitment clients to this effect).
- Diversity efforts have largely been placed in the "nice to do" category, when they need to be in the "core business solutions" category, and seen as a benefit to the bottom line.
- The discussion around women in tech has reached a tipping point, but there are very few actual solutions available to start making true impact.
- I ran a large global non-profit in this space for years, and felt the lack of resources needed for true impact. The two main factors needed are 1) technology as the platform 2) for-profit, for-good model as a pathway to sustainability and growth.
- There is overwhelming evidence that increasing diversity at any level will make a company more successful, therefore, creating an efficient, scalable way to close gender gaps (and increase diversity) will improve company and industry success.
- Example: A hiring manager who wants more women usually goes to 5-10 non-profits/community groups to get candidates. An inefficient process with low candidate flow.
Impact: Gender gaps in tech start to close at a more rapid pace.
Who: Technologists will benefit from an opportunity standpoint. Companies will benefit from increased diversity gained through a more efficient process. For future solutions, female founders and their investors will benefit.
How: Each solution is deployed separately, but with the "system" in mind. We bucket solutions into three target systems: Workplace, Founder/investor relationship, Leadership. Each solution aligns with one of those systems, with the ultimate goal of connecting them inside each system (e.g. recruiting + retaining + advancing within the workplace).
Track application rates. - Increase the number of women applying to jobs in our recruitment platform.
Employer reporting. - Increase the number of women getting hired.
Requests from D&I expert network. - Increase the access to D&I expertise for companies who want to improve.

- Consumer-facing software (mobile applications, cloud services)

The solution is novel because we're providing tech-enabled access to a centralized pool of female tech talent.
This candidate pool has been largely decentralized or a it's been difficult or impossible to filter by gender on many recruitment platform. Additional sourcing options have been low-tech or no tech.
Our first phase solution is a turnkey jobboard solution that allows for "active" recruitment (matching, alerting, "pulling" the candidate to a job, etc).
Our second phase solution, in conjunction with a partner, will be using AI/machine learning and chat bots to facilitate deeper connections between candidates and employers, and provide data and insights on career progression and retainment of employees.
Free for candidates! Sign up. Employers pay to access our candidate pool. This is standard for the recruitment space.

We have what we think is a good idea, but have an intense room to grow, and would benefit tremendously from refinement of our process AND our technology (basic right now). We know high level how think about things like data collection, but don't know how to really put it into practice. So we have a lot of "stuff" we think can/should happen with the tech and product map, but not necessarily a clear path.
