We have three program areas that need further development and require funding.
1) Restructure the 365give website to implement a new online educational learning platform for teachers, students, and our global members in multiple languages.
2) Enhance our outreach to more educational institutions with the addition of Program Managers responsible for developing and nurturing relationships with more schools and school districts.
3) Create and execute marketing strategies for all 365give programs to reach more global communities and increase the adoption of our mission to all membership categories.
On a personal note, I am eager to be involved in the Leadership Course offered to successful applicants. I know that education and collaboration are invaluable assets to further my dedication and commitment to the growth of our organization. Our continued success depends on exploring opportunities where I can share and learn from other people’s experiences, both failures and successes. I seek out those who share innovative ideas and are committed to excellence in what they do.
For over 20 years I have been engaged in philanthropic activities in my community in event management, fundraising, and consulting. When I became a mother, I focused on teaching my children to be compassionate, empathic, and engaged citizens.
365give began as a parenting project that documented daily giving with my son online and expanded to a classroom program in 13 schools. As online interest grew, I began fielding international inquiries about our giving commitment. In 2015 I was asked to give a TEDx talk about giving, happiness, and well-being, which to date has over 5.6 million views.
In 2016 I adapted The 365give Challenge for families, individuals, workplaces, and community/leadership groups expanded our online presence and continued researching the social impact of giving. We created an annual event in 2018, #Do1Give Day, to educate and inspire new members.
Today the educational program is offered in 400 schools, 5000 members, and #Do1Give Day has logged 150,000 gives.
My goal is to expand our general membership and enhance the online functionality of the education program. We will continue to highlight giving as the most effective and equitable means to improve well-being in our communities, in order to tackle shared global challenges.
The World Happiness Report states over 10% of our global population suffer from anxiety and depression because of alienation and disconnection. In the past year, the pandemic has highlighted the declining state of our mental health. On a global scale, depressed, stressed, and anxious individuals are unable to face the global threats we face worldwide, best described as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Research shows that pro-social actions make happier, empathetic, and compassionate people. Giving, by its neurobiological nature, improves the happiness and social and emotional well-being of the giver, receiver, and observer.
365give generates a global giving culture to increase the well-being and happiness in individuals, schools, and communities so they can act on solutions to local and global issues.
Small acts of giving can be completed across cultures and adapted to economic circumstances. It creates a happiness equality that enhances our ability to take part in and positively affect our communities both locally and globally.
Global policies will affect the 2030 SDG agenda, but individuals are the greatest untapped resource to create positive large-scale social change in our world. Everyone deserves a basic happiness foundation so we can focus on global issues that affect us all.
A sustained continuity of giving is our innovation. 365give is designed for all age groups and includes the participation of families, individuals, schools, workplaces, and community/leadership groups. This continuum of our message through all stages of life and activities generates a foundational practice of giving as we age, change and develop.
The development and maintenance of our individual wellbeing does not simply begin at kindergarten and end in grade 12, which is what most kindness and social-emotional learning programs support. It is an ongoing continuous process that required daily observance and nurturing. Our ability to adapt and find solutions to daily stresses and challenges as we age depends upon a well-maintained and strong sense of well-being.
The simple act of giving is essential to keep us happy, and resilient throughout our life. Our programs reflect this with our various memberships, and program supports that adapt to the life stages we experience. Few non-profit programs have been developed to include all life cycles and impact global issues. 365give impacts individuals and communities both local and global, developing a more resilient population that can be engaged in our world's larger global issues.
We measure the impact of our programs through membership statistics and feedback.
To date, we have 35,000 students engaged in the school program in over 400 schools globally. Our membership base has reached over 5000 members with 40,000 visitors from 186 countries searching for information on the website annually. #Do1Give Day has tallied 150,000 gives after 4 events. 5.6 million views on the Tedx talk demonstrate people are searching for ways to increase their happiness and wellbeing so they can become more engaged citizens.
Feedback from our members highlights that giving is changing classroom cultures, creating happier, more compassionate students. Stories from individuals, parents, employers, and community leaders indicate a positive shift in wellbeing and happiness after daily giving.
Our membership stories are powerful and prove that giving works. Members chart their impact on our global giving map.
A marketing strategy is our next step to grow our global membership. We have relied on search engine optimization, online referrals from the Tedx talk, podcasts, interviews and keynote talks to promote 365give. Program managers are essential to recruit and support educators to expand student participation. As a volunteer-run organization, we are reaching our limit to further the adoption of our programs.
