Small, unending, mighty power source
Using Nano-Generators to power the World, cleanly and constantly.
I build Power Plants, I know how much they pollute and how needed they are for Modern Times.
Nano Piezo Generators have been considered for sewing into clothing to create power for mobile devices due to motion creating friction which the units turn into a trickle charge. I propose using sheets of Nano-Generators in Oceanic currents to generate power by the wave actions upon them. Nano Piezo Generators have been shown to power an LED lamp with simple flexing of a 1 Inch square of fabric. Racks containing layered sheets, strips or packets of Nano Piezo Generators could be built and tethered to sea floor, rivers, lakes or any area with running water which will cause the layers to sway and create power without need for wind, sun or fossil fuels. Coastlines can be seeded and power distributed through Smart Grids, smaller water sources closer to cities inland could also assist.
Sheets could also be used in windy regions or even hand wrung as an emergency power generator, hand activation or a small turntable connected to a push rod could sway large banks of sheets and create power freely in areas far from flowing water. Units may speed up determination of source and magnitude of seismic events by studying sharpness of output increase from various banks caused by increased agitation. Ocean based power generation frees up land to be used for sustainability purposes by freeing the land from wind turbines, solar and power plants. ElectroMagnetic Field generated by units may deter sharks and other mammals from coming close to shore and would be easily discovered by fishermen so the nets would not snag and would also create a constant navigational location during inclement weather.
Ebb and Flow would activate units and upscaling will ensure constant output along the plain of power banks during lull periods between surges. Rack sections would be raised for maintenance and changing of units making for a safer work environment. Banks, strategically positioned, may also aid in slowing down land erosion by taking some of the wave front force away before striking land.
Scalability is near limitless, racks can be placed almost anywhere under water or in areas where wind does not blow strong enough to power turbines. Racks would tilt, re orientate or lower during aggressive wave or wind action to reduce cross section and risk of damage or being ripped from pilings.
With thanks.
- Building sustainable ocean economies
Upscaling a gimmick to be something beneficial to all. Instead of sewing Nano Generators into clothing to power smart phones I seek to seed the Oceans and windy plains with sheets of such to create power for all without causing further pollution or damage to the Environment.
Utilizing Nano Generators on a large scale and pushing tech knowledge to use the abundant Energy in the waves to power our lives. Bring Nano into the arena of powering Cities without new power plants being built.
Phase 1.
Feasibility study to determine possible output of varying sized sheets and various amount of layers.
Phase 2.
Small scale exploration of differing materials and patterns to determine optimal output configuration.
Phase 3.
In
Situ testing of sheets to evaluate stability, power transfer options, durability, maintenance and output in actual conditions.
Diversify product. Sew into heat pad equipped sleeping bags and tents to provide power and warmth in the field. Small sheets that can be wrung by hand to power cell phones, emergency beacons or strobes for backpackers, hikers and more. Integrate product into sidewalks, roads and building floors and walls. Investigate weight to output ratio for including in EV vehicles, small vibrations add power to battery pack reducing charge requirements.

If feasibility is deemed worthy the product could be serving small communities of up to 100 in 1 year as a test bed and over 1 Million in 3 years before full rollout serving the Planets population at large.

I was trained as a Mechanical Engineer in Dublin Ireland. I work in the USA currently but have many Engineering contacts worldwide as well as building more Environmental contacts each year who would spread the word and petition for this tech to be used in their countries if it is proven viable.
By making this idea more widely known and thought of it will allow others offer their opinions for improvements and faster creation and testing of product to get to market sooner. Contacts, that is how I feel SOLVE can assist this concept.
I work 70 or more hours a week, I have little time or knowledge for research, funding and Electrical Engineering expertise which has delayed progress for some time. Getting the idea out to the wider knowledge base will allow for accelerated growth and development which I will not be able to achieve alone.
