We invest in Businesses of rural entrepreneurs and offer them customized financial literacy to help them grow in a profitable and sustainable way. Mobilizing community for action is biggest change that the project prides itself as the ability to raleigh and mobilize the community together through focused group discussions, capacity building local based community organization most being led by women to respond to a complex problem around water through trainings, peer to peer exchange programs and financing the water tank
for harvesting rainwater as a climate resilient initiative. Stakeholder mobilizing land use and access to water as the program built momentum thus need to scale to meet the demand
DISC GOAL
Towards discovering the potential within thus discouraging hopelessness in our community by using sports, education, Information technology, micro- finance and crisis aid as tools of community empowerment.
Program objectives:
1. EDUCATION: To promote access to bright and less privileged youths in our community by awarding scholarship for secondary,vocational and tertiary education. Access to community library to promote the culture of reading.
2. CRISIS AID: Response to families in abject poverty, children who are less fortunate who are in need of rapid help in medical care,access to education,nutrition,hygiene and home living standards.
3. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY: To provide access to digital media through the provision of IT equipment and IT-related training to schools and social institutions. We strongly believe that access to the digital world is a right to every human being, since it enables people to actively participate in the political and social development in the their region and country and hence stimulate poverty reduction.
4. LIVELIHOOD: Establishing a platform to access capital to DISC ladies , and community to boost small scale business for income generating.
our project has contributed to crosscutting objectives like health, economic empowerment access to services to community level adaptive capacity, reduced risk from climatic changes. Policy makers and
institutional frameworks to promote sustainable management. Constituted
water tank community self-help groupings with mechanism to access more tanks for many members. Data capture and constant research has assisted in documenting the process for futuristic improvements and sharing as case studies for various universities in Kenya and around. We are not aiming on making profit but we are also aligning our self to Sustainable development goals no 6 which is clean water and sanitation
The holistic demand and supply chain in harvesting involves the diversion, collecting, storage, usage, and management of runoff through various micro financing schemes and as sustainable as possible, for domestic, livestock, irrigation. Our project has aims to
better the lives of the poor who live in the most remote rural areas as well as alleviating the suffering of severely vulnerable families from water our project has helped in building climate resilience through the component of rain harvested water that would otherwise be lost and saved for future use in drought
period, prevent flooding. Busia as community has active 185 days of rainfall per annum with the Kenya Meteorological department always
flagging Busia to receive a moderate of and heavy rainfall of a scale of 20mm to 70mm.We have so far accessed to 426 households with water tanks with a collection capacity to harvest 1,580,000 liters of rainwater. An average home in the rural communities comprises of 7 members per family
impacting 2,982 persons directly.
