Ally Power Inc.

I am applying for the Elevate Prize to accelerate the growth and adoption of zero emission infrastructure in the U.S. and globally. We intend to utilize the funding and elevated marketing profile to showcase the benefits of our core technology: the Hydrogen and Electric Gas station.

I have two degrees from American University in Political Science and Economics, and a law degree from New York Law School. For the past 11 years, I have been working on the concept of the Hydrogen and Electric Gas Station, and have four years of experience in the automotive industry. My experience and education have led me to launch Ally Power Inc. to transition our transportation industry to zero emission solutions. We at Ally Power see the transportation sector bifurcating between both hydrogen and electric battery drivetrains. Therefore, we designed the stations to provide solutions for both hydrogen fuel cell vehicles as well as electric battery vehicles. 

Our team is made up of four co-founders: Joseph Alfred, Michael O'Brien, Vasken Vartanian, and Thomas Mierzwa. We also have a board of advisors with expertise in utilities, engine manufacturing, and the EV supply chain.

Our goals for the future are to build out networks of Hydrogen and Electric Gas stations along interstate highways to create zero emission options for trucking and passenger vehicles. We are working currently with the governments of Maryland and California to set up their initial networks. 

We are solving the problem of the availability of hydrogen refueling and electric battery charging options for consumers. Our stations produce hydrogen and electricity on-site which allows for greater flexibility. The stations can also generate electricity to distribute to the grid.  

Our typical station will generate 1200 kilograms of hydrogen per day. This amount can refill 40 trucks or 200 passenger cars. The station will also generate about 80 megawatts of zero emission electricity. The charging equipment will be able to charge electric trucks, buses, cars, motorcycles, and scooters.

A typical truck carries 80 gallons of gasoline. 1 gallon of gas equals about 20 pounds of CO2. So every day, our stations will take out 64,000 pounds of CO2 from our atmosphere.

Hydrogen is usually generated off-site and then transported through either compressed containers in trucks, or refrigerated and then distributed through pipelines. This process is called steam reformation. The process is efficient, but produces CO2 at the same time. Thus, it has been outlawed in states like where we are incorporated in Maryland. 

The other way to generate hydrogen is through electrolyzers. This process is green, but it currently requires 3x as much electricity to power a hydrogen fuel cell car than an electric battery vehicle. 

As our station produces electricity and hydrogen at the same time, we do not have that issue. 

We are currently in site selection for the first stations in California and the DMV area. Once we have selected the locations, the construction company and architect will begin preparations for the construction. This includes obtaining the appropriate permits, permission, and regulatory agencies. This process takes approximately 3 to 6 months in California where we are targeting our first entrance into the market. 

These steps will be effective because it will enable more hydrogen fuel cell vehicles to enter the market.
