Long Yang e.V. - Preserving Ancient Wisdom
- Germany
- Nepal
I am Tabea and applying for The Elevate Prize on behalf of Long Yang e.V. - seeking your support to realize our vision on a global scale.
We seek to elevate humanity through female empowerment.
Current times need compassionate multipliers, inspiring role models and strong future leaders. For this purpose, we establish Akasha Academy as a space to develop one’s skills through physical training, holistic education, and community engagement – based on the universal wisdom of original Buddhism. Our work is rooted in Nepal, where the blessing of the ancient teachings is still present today.
I am from Germany but live in Nepal to support our cause. As an Elevate Prize winner, I would enhance our work by providing job opportunities especially to young locals to foster the establishment of the Academy Headquarters. With the help of the Elevate mentorship I intend to develop the Academy into a flagship project.
Our purpose is to amplify positive change with a global network of Akasha Academy branches. This network will only flourish if it is visible to those seeking for a change. Thus, connecting with the Elevate Prize network would open a new dimension for our work to thrive.
The connection to Long Yang e.V. and its founder Tulku Khyungdor Rinpoche has profoundly changed my life – it has changed the way to perceive, relate and interact with my surroundings. This has inspired me to use my skills for the benefit of others, leading a meaningful life.
Our engagement is rooted in Buddhist wisdom principles, which have been transmitted from generation to generation for more than 2000 years. We envision to keep these ancient teachings alive with the purpose of making them accessible for the current and future generations. On this foundation, Akasha Academy shall serve as a stronghold and a place to unfold one’s skills by means of physical training, holistic education, and community engagement – to connect body, mind, and speech. Wisdom and compassion are universal, basic human qualities that are inherent to all of us, yet often we seem to have lost the connection to our roots. When we realize, how things are interrelated and dare open our hearts, we can see that we are not separated from others - we develop courage to reach out and act. To create spaces for others to do exactly that is how we seek to amplify positive change.
In Nepal, there is little hope for the youth. Education is expensive and are little job opportunities. This causes many to leave their country. Girls and women face the deep-rooted patriarchal structure which leaves little space to make their own decisions in life.
However, working with the local communities we see a change in the young generation. Girls seek education and they want to make their own choices.
Thus, we offer a space to do so. At Akasha Academy young ladies benefit from comprehensive education, looking at global challenges in the local context and according to local needs. Issues related to health, environment and society are taught from an interdisciplinary perspective, relating the individual level to the community and society. Students then apply their knowledge in a creative way through community engagement acting for the benefit of others. Universal ethics are the foundation of our education. To invoke basic human qualities like compassion, honesty and mindfulness in our students will empower them to become responsible adults.
Our approach is thus universal, and we seek to amplify our impact. We are already in the process of setting up Akasha Academy branches in Germany and Nepal, and plan to expand them globally.
The foundation of Long Yang e.V. are universal wisdom principles which show to be of great benefit for the necessities of modern times. We aim at preserving and applying that ancient knowledge and the means it provides for a universal healing of the individual and the whole. On the basis of cause and effect, our work addresses the root of an issue instead of just managing symptoms. Being aware of the interdependence between people and how things are connected, we are creating a flagship project to inspire and show by example how things can be done differently. Within our holistic education approach, we show people how to connect body, mind and speech, in order to advance their capacity to analyze problems, to develop practical solutions and to apply them with a mindset beyond self for the benefit of all. We want to build a foundation for future global leaders to apply these tools in a variety of fields, in order to increase ethical behavior and foster necessary change. The long-term effects of our work will have a major positive effect worldwide. It’s a sustainable approach by training some to act as multipliers while creating ripple effects in their own environment.
Akasha Academy shall serve as a safe space and suitable surrounding for people to discover their capacities and develop skills. Our offers are tailored to the local necessities. In Nepal we follow the approach to educate, enable and empower girls and young women by means of physical training, holistic education and community engagement.
In Germany, we offer a space where women truly support each other. According to the local needs, we seek to empower young women fostering their (social) entrepreneurial skills, offering infrastructure to set up a business and networking opportunities in addition to our general education approach.
All our engagement is rooted in the universal wisdom of original Buddhism and we seek to create conditions where others can find the space and inspiration to invoke basic human qualities inherent in all of us – learning to base their decisions on such values. We seek to set up Academy branches worldwide working on that foundation. In that way it is our purpose amplify positive change on a global scale.
