I'm 34 year old father of two beautiful kids Social Activist and labour right movement activist grow up in the dusty streets of Vosloorus ekurhuleni east of Johennesburg Gauteng in South Africa I was raised by my grandmother a domestic worker, all I know is to speak for the voiceless, segregated and the marginalized I joined a civic movement organization at the age of 19 an organization call Sanco is a the oldest civic movement in South Africa focusing on bread and butter issues from fighting for the homeless to Gender-based violence and those are living in the informal settlements to get access to service delivery. In 2009 I joined politics and in 2011 I was elected PR Councillor (Proportional Representative) I was the youngest Councillor in the Municipality to elected in 2017 I then resigned to focus on my NPC all my life I work to better the lives of my people I know nothing except being social activist.
Township Business association is focusing on empowering black entrepreneurs in our townships in this past few years local businesses have faced challenges shopping malls are being build in our townships and big chain stores coming forcing our small business to close down because of unfair competition and lack of educating our black entrepreneurs on how to run their business to profitable, TBA saw a gap in empowering all our township business by teaching them on how to run their business, formalizing their business and we now working hand in hand with big chain stores in forming partnership with our local business by having worship and training our entrepreneurs eg we invite banks to help those who will need business funding and property development companies to assist those who want to rent buildings to expand their business. We now added a free mentorship and training to those who lost their jobs during Covid19want to start a business but don't know where to go about starting a business we assist with a free business plan, business registration and business proposal if they have a business idea. Our goal is see black businesses in our townships being independent and conglomeration in owning their own markets and shopping centers without the assistance of the government bring about real development in our townships.
In south Africa we been talking black economic empowerment but we failing to teach our people on how they can empower themselves without relying upon government or private sector Township Business association will introduce conglomeration the comming together of local businesses in our townships this means an entrepreneur in Soweto can be able to assist an entrepreneur in Tokoza without even meeting but connected by TBA via conglomeration because we want township Businesses to be able to find itself and see a real growth and the so call Black Economic empowerment.
Gauteng is overloaded with opportunities and we just need to teach our people on how to identify those opportunities in south Africa we have high rate of unemployment and such can lead to crime and drug abuse specially our youth now as social activist I believe entrepreneurs can solve unemployment in our country if they can get support from the government and private sector but first we need to formalize ourselves in the township so we can be ready when those opportunities come that's where TBA comes in.
