Ndoto Zetu - Lifeskills Coaching Selfdevelopment
- Tanzania
Our vision is big, as well the need to support the change the Tanzanian Government required since 2019 (Children´s reintegration with families http://jamii.go.tz/uploads/pub...). Our fundraising right now covers day to day expenses but limits us in spreading our course wider.
A property to build a house to accommodate more families and children as well as more coaching sessions,
a garden to grow more own fruits and vegetables and support constant, healthy nutrition,
a area to develop craft, sport and other talents, allow self development, self expression and future life tuning,
to employ more stuff, including our Project Manager Simone (on volunteer base right now), which allows us to reach more families as well as direct influence the families from our employees and
more flexible day to day funding (example printer, transport...)
are our next steps to provide a sustainable growth for Ndoto Zetu.
The two years guidance and coaching are a enticing and important part of why we decided to apply. Coaching and empowering are the main tools our program is hosting, the counterparts coaching or supervision for management and leading team are yet pending.

Seven years ago my life journey leaded me to Tanzania, a long story short I got introduced to a young Tanzanian lady, she had opened a orphanage. I supported her course for five years on volunteer base.
In several topics we did not found one sense. The two biggest been transparency of funds and, if children have families, to encourage contact or even reintegrate. Together with two employees, (Fatuma, Managing Director and Social Worker and Jennifer, Caretaker now at Ndoto Zetu) we stepped out and opened Ndoto Zetu in December 2020.
Our vision is to empower families to live their full potential and provide a safe, joyful and inspiring environment for their children.
Life is not always in favor of `easy´, but no reason to lose hope. We believe in the resilience every family member has and with some tools on hand, it is possible to empower living in full potential. We set up a three step system to help being aware, accepting, reflecting and potentially overcoming trauma.
Regular food as a safety base (nutrition);
Routines as the anchor to come back to, implemented in a positive environment (love and care) and
Tools to challenge yourself and step in your self-determined future (progress).
With this three main blocks, a basic is assured which enables to face your daily life and focus on your positive future.

Ndoto Zetu https://ndotozetu.or.tz/wp-con...means in Swahili `Our Vision/Our Dream`. Poverty and its resulting traumas are, out of our experience, the main reason for the ongoing circle of poverty as well as the circle of abuse. Empowering self awareness, self love grants self control and basic dignity. The cornerstone for every vision to brace and grow.
The National Bureau of Statistics (Tanzania`s Statistic for Development Department) published, together with the World Bank Group a report focusing on poverty at the Mainland Tanzania https://www.nbs.go.tz/nbs/takw..., where Arusha (3rd biggest city in Tanzania) is located. The report is sadly from last year, so the pandemic related effects are not evaluated yet, but...
Tanzania recorded remarkable economic growth over the last years. We see it as our duty to assure that our families get a chance to find their position in this growth. Arusha (population 1,694 million rising *data catalog world bank 2017) is mainly economic stable through the tourism industry (approximately 38%). Last years impact in this sector are well know. Our program is focusing on stabilizing the personality side of our families, specifically the children. Open up their views for new opportunities and build up their knowledge to be ready to start through as soon as possibilities horizons, are our target.

In Tanzania, we even can be provocative and say in Africa, a portray got enhanced, which leaves the focus on the poor, uneducated orphan relaying on help from overseas to come out of their miserable situation. Even a whole voluntarism matured out of this interpretation. Don´t understand us wrong, yes support is needed, but mainly to reshaping this obsolete picture and coach self-growth and sustainability, so development on eye level is possible.
The government and other local authorities, as well as the families themself are ready to be taken in responsibility and be forge of their own activities.
Ndoto Zetu estimates at this point. Life Skill Coaching, One to One Sessions, In Home Coaching, tools like SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity, Target) and other Sense Of Self or Reflecting Tools and Community Meet ups (girls talk, father circles, mum meet up, family activities) got implemented in close cooperation with local authorities. First outreach programs towards schools, churches and mosques, as well as other community based organizations, started and have potential to be reconstructed.
Our set up is mainly build out of recycle materials. Our goal is to prove, there is no need to invest lots of money, better focus on creativity, invention and networking.

"Unfortunately, it is not said with certainty where these stones are today, but maybe they are (...) close by even right now?" https://ndotozetu.or.tz/about/
After seven month intense work, evaluation, witnessing the small but crucial changes in our families, we are certain that some how this stones linked in our area. We started with a bunch of children, rough in their use of words, not focused on their hygiene and not aware of the power of togetherness and care. Mothers and fathers not motivated to start their days, to face the daily, repeating challenges. We are now a community of five families and 20 plus children. Our concept based on combining a bunch of national, as well as international experiences, allows family talks with both parents, smiles instead of negative approaching, growth in creativity and communication culture and so much more, which we are ready to spread wider and witness the long term effects, visible already by now.
Our inclusive approach enables and encourages everybody to find their position in themself and in our community.
Ndoto Zetu, `Your Vision/Your Dream´ is waiting to be experienced and accessed by many more families.
