Modern Leadership
Modern Leadership, an inclusive education support system to create 21st cen human capital of digital leaders in Myanmar.
Majority of youths from Myanmar are very poor in Digital Literacy skills (using only Facebook as the internet) as well as professional soft skills as CV, interview, and communication. With the lack of support system in their communities, this undermines the employability of the youths. It is particularly worse in rural areas and ethnic regions which deters the country overall development. Myanmar also lacks behind with youths without employability skills as the rest of the developed world progress into the digital economy.
Their employability is also being challenged by lack of professional soft skills such as CV, interview, public speaking and leadership skills. This creates a tremendous challenge for the higher education to have a well rounded graduates from the universities, undermining the curriculum learning and innovation mindset in the universities as well.
The MNCs and SMEs in Myanmar are lacking digitally skilled professional workers for their growth, undermining the economic development. In the face of diversities in Myanmar, the local skilled workforce is needed in expanding consumer based than a one-size fit all approach. More efficient digital workers are needed as SMEs grow in a lean approach, MNCs grow with distributed teams across the country and the country opening up to the international economy.
A comprehensive online training program with local network on the ground chapter for the youths across Myanmar is the scalable solution from MYEO. This online program is to create a support a system for Myanmar's universities in terms of providing digital skills and leadership skills that are necessary to survive and thrive in the modern digital world.
Modern Leadership course is created to provide soft skills in terms of communication, leadership, problem solving, critical thinking skills in fundamental skill levels and train them to have digital skills as a tools to reach those skills.
This course is based on the Workplace Digital Skills online training program is which empowers youths who just use Facebook into digital remote workers in 4 weeks. Launched in Dec 2017, we have impacted over 300+ youths (university students, facilitators, managers, entrepreneurs) across Myanmar including conflicted areas.
In addition to the online support network, we create on the ground local campus chapter network to create local learning hub where continious discussions and workshops can happen. Our local chapter network are run by the students themselves. Campus Chapter Director program is an online professional leadership training program that equips universities leaders with 4 weeks professional soft skills. The directors serves as a local network and hold soft skill training events in their respective communities. We have impacted 43 directors across 32 campuses in all part of Myanmar and over 400+ youths in June 2018 alone.
The digitally literate professional workforce can be a great human resource for MNCs and SMEs as employees pipeline and as valuable consumer base. In order to validate the human capital value, we have already created Tech Internship Program and INGOs internship in Myanmar for the outstanding students from Workplace Digital Skills online training program.
- Educators fostering 21st century skills
A new application of existing technology with new process, using digital tools and social network.
Digital tools:Online courses are very new for Myanmar. We create online courses on Google Classroom and use Facebook Messenger as registration =chatbot and facilitating channel. In aim of reaching out to youths across Myanmar with limited digital skills, we use familiar and simple tools such as FB and Google Classroom.
Social Network:In empowering rural youths, we use social networks of our handpicked campus chapter leaders at universities, skipping the severe redtape of holding events in University and increasing inclusiveness.
Teaching digital skills to youths with very limited knowledge on digital tools except FB requires us to use simple technology as google. The only way to reach widespread youths across Myanmar is via online training course as well as we believe that we are not teaching youths to learn digital tools but rather creating an environment on digital places to be able to overcome their fears of using new tools as well as being able to have a sense of lifelong learning with self initiative.
1) Updating curriculum - Media Literacy (in conversation with FB, Thompson Foundation, Media Diversity Institute); Internet Search; Cyber Safety, Cyber Security(reaching out to Google), and Ethics; Online Hate Speech; Online Entrepreneurship
2) Adjusting the technology to increase more accessibility and user-friendliness with fewer data usages for users with cheap smartphones with limited storage.
3) Providing need-blind full/partial scholarships for students from ethnic regions, women and impoverished background
4) Automating the internal process and technologies to scale across the country.
5) Scaling the campus chapter director program to reach 100+ universities.
6) Providing 100% employment opportunities for students via MNCs, SMEs, Startups
