We want to prove how the simple act of picking up trash can lead to a powerful movement, that binds together groups, individuals, and organizations that would otherwise never work together, and catalyze needed transformation in societies.
The Prize means a lot for our tireless leaders and volunteers in 164 countries working for the clean, healthy, and waste-free World – eventually for every living being on Earth! These leaders have engaged more than 50 million people during the last 3 years and they lead the change in societies that many have seen impossible.
But this is just a beginning. To start a change in society we need to engage at least 5% of each country's population. We would use the Elevate Prize to engage up to 400 million people (yes, it's possible!) around the world for a sustainable future. I'd like to use the funding for the empowerment of our leaders. Also, to give wings to amazing regional programs that bring a lot of countries into cooperation for the first time. We have achieved a lot with minor fundings and how much we can achieve with more.
We have proven that impossible is possible, and we do it again!
Our vision is a clean and waste-free world and I fully believe that we can only achieve it through positive collaboration.
I have been serving the Let's Do It World network for the last 6 years. I found the leaders in 164 countries and empowered them to start organizing country-wide cleanups. We aiming to engage at least 5% of the population and to lead the change in society. These leaders are the heart and soul of Let's Do It World.
I have been honored to be part of this movement, it led me to huge personal growth, being humble, and being connected. It has sculpted me as a human to understand and serve the whole of humanity.
I strongly believe that participation in World Cleanup Day makes people aware of waste, cures trash blindness, and makes them feel how we all are connected. Our dream is to engage everyone on the planet in building up TOGETHER a sustainable and prosperous future for every living being. Let's forget about our egos and enter into an era of positive cooperation.
The world generates 2.01 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste annually, what is not managed in an environmentally safe manner. The global waste crisis affects every living being on the planet.
Let’s Do It World is a global movement that tackles the solid waste crisis by mobilising millions of positive-minded people into coordinated local and global actions. Our flagship project World Cleanup Day is not just a cleanup. By engaging 5% of the population, we will create a critical momentum for taking action and catalyzes solutions for sustainable development. It mobilizes people, businesses, and governments in tackling the biodiversity and climate crisis together. LDIW’s work so far has shown that such massive engagement starts transformation in societies and catalyzes collaboration between sectors to work for sustainable development.
Our organization works as a unique network with active leaders and teams in 164 countries.
LDIW has organized three World Cleanup Days (WCD) with outstanding results:
World Cleanup Day 2018 engaged 17,6 million people from 157 countries, in 2019 engaged 21,2 million from 180 countries, and in 2020, during Covid-19 time, amazing 11 million people from 166 countries.
And started many needed projects on a local level by engaging the existing stakeholders.
Our innovative idea is to gather all World into one united action - World Cleanup Day. The tipping point is 5% of each country's population to pick up mismanaged waste from nature in one day. Massive engagement is proven to start the transformation process in society, we help it along by catalyzing the collaboration between sectors to find solutions to the waste crisis after the World Cleanup Day itself. Many countries have reached more than 5% of the population and have taken a course to a circular economy, e.g Slovenia (engagement to the cleanups 14 %), Bulgaria (engagement to the cleanups 6 %), Kyrgyzstan (engagement to the cleanups 10 %), Cambodia, Indonesia (engagement to the cleanups 3 %) and many more, catalyzing the process - Slovenia is recycling today 70 % of their total waste!
The issue in the world today is trash blindness - we don't notice how much waste we generate daily. World Cleanup Day is a tool to cure societies of trash blindness. Participants stop littering, change their consumption habits, start to reduce waste and ask for zero waste solutions. World Cleanup Day proves, that by acting together, we catalyze social and sustainable change in societies.
Let’s Do It World harnesses the power of everyday people to achieve a common goal by joining in actions for a mutual goal. Its beauty lies in cooperation and collaboration: building bridges between disparate communities, and including all levels of society – from citizens to business, to government. Let’s Do It World also supports and connects a new generation of community leaders – ready to act together to find sustainable solutions for a cleaner future. Let’s Do It World believes that change can be achieved by taking action together in positive collaboration.
World Cleanup Day is one of the biggest actions in the World. The network is a unique backbone of the organisation - strength, ethics, skills, positivity is needed to lead the movement at the national and global level. Today, the biggest work is to hold this biggest global family together with its framework, strategies, and activities. It is a work for 24/7, as the world is never sleeping, and it is work to demonstrate the consistency of never giving up.
It is empowering people to realize, that each one of us is behind the global success and each of us can make the change happen.
